To be fair, Bleacher Report was right- we have no identity on offense. That's a big reason why we're 3-0....teams keep saying, "What the heck just happened?"
I'm curious...at what point would he be 10-0 in his last 10 starts? I've wondered that all week but I've been too lazy to look it up. Edit- it was the Raven's game, which was his 2nd to last game before getting hurt. So we'd have to win the next six for him to be 10 for 10. But then folks would just say he's 16-1 in his last 17 starts, so I guess my little fantasy stat is meaningless after all. =)
I absolutely LOVE watching the game, enjoying the win, and then coming on here and reading through all the unbelievable hate being thrown on Gase and Tannehill. It's so incredibly satisfying reading how horrible this team is, how Gase should be fired at half time, how Tannehill is the worst QB in the league...while knowing full well that we're 3-0 and pulled out another amazing win thanks to Gase, Tannehill and our incredible receivers.
Three games into the season, it appears that our team identity is: speed. Can't hit what you can't catch!
I hate to be the one to do this because I like Tannehill. I think he does a great job. However he was the lucky recipient of two touch downs that were considered pass plays that were in actuality just like run plays that went for a heck of a lot of yards... Grant's 18 yard TD and Wilson's 74 yard TD. Did he execute them well? Yes. But at the end of the day, you know "some" others are going to come in here and use that against him. I don't hold it against him as he was just executing what was called, but I am sure some will discount those two plays. EDIT: I have a feeling I am going to regret mentioning this.
Rules are the same for everyone so that stuff counts. Over time it should average out with cases where the WR should have made a play but didn't (e.g., that infamous drop by Stills in 2016 that should have been a TD). Anyway, even IF you took away those two TD's, Tannehill would still have had a pretty darn good rating of 116.6. Guy played well today.
That's fair....his QB rating was inflated some by those two plays. But it also benefits every QB and I don't feel like it's our fault that other teams don't have Grant and Wilson making ridiculous plays like that. For now, he'll likely fall into the top-3 range on the year. And sure, maybe he edges out Rodgers or someone who's more of a pure passer. I'm okay with that though....put an asterisk beside his name if it makes someone else feel better. Because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that "W". A passer rating just gives a better idea of how we're earning those W's. And if teams want to come into our house assuming RT will suck because of his "inflated stats", then I guarantee you that they're going to be surprised.
I agree 100%. It just concerns me that other might use what I mentioned as fuel for the fire, so to speak. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it. LOL
What does that have to do with me pointing out a pass being thrown, once again, well behind the marker on 3rd and long? Where in any of my posts today did I say Tannehill sucked? Or the dolphins or Gase sucked?Carry on lil fella
I’m on the fence about that Gruden he owned us for 3 quarters. I’ll give Gase credit for the trickery and the win and hope he learned something today about taking what they give you
I agree. Every team is talented, coaches and players that fight to the end are successful more often than not.
He will be conservative consistently with his bubble screens and short slants and running on 2nd and long and throwing short of the sticks. He only opens it up when we need to win and that's dangerous and spineless way to run an offense. The players have been coming through more than Gase crappy scheme itself. Sorry. Gase only calls good plays when we are behind.
Sad you can’t enjoy things when things are going good! You must be miserable to be around when things are not going so good
He is conservative because turnover margin and good defense wins games. When your offensive line isn't great you use short passes and screen as an extension of your running game. Gase didn't only call bad plays when we were behind the Jets because we were up 20-0 at half. Your "spineless way to run an offense" is what Tom Brady and the patriots have done for years. Its the smart way to play the game. We don't have Dan Marino at QB do we?
I think we could be scoring 10 more points per game minimum. I'm trying to give Gase the benefit of the doubt but he always plays super vanilla scheme until we're losing. The better way to approach winning is to go for the jugular out of the gate. Most people think that I believe. I'm trying not to be down on Gase trust me. We're 3-0. The Pats look awful tonight and we have a chance to be 4-0. I just don't want to see the potential we have squandered on a game plan I disagree with, and sorry to those of yall who disagree but thats just imo.
That's not a nice thing to say. You're a veteran I remember you from FH Jt. I used to be "KuD," I went through the 1-15 season with people like you.. I'm a diehard fan and have been for 21 years. I love this 3-0 hopefully 4-0 start. You completely mistook what I was saying. I am very happy with OUR players 3-0 start! I promise!
oh ****! my bad! How does it go KuD? How have you been? My apologies! man its been a min! Hope all is good!
lol... I mentioned it too. His stats were definitely padded by 2 great calls that were executed perfectly. However, even if you take those 2 TD's away from him he is still playing great. Wil he keep up a 128 passer rating? No. Will he be a 100+ passer rating QB? It sure looks like it. Few mistakes, runs when he needs to, and extremely accurate.
I don't recall how many or for how long but he had some passes recalled too due to penalties (that weren't). But then, if you get into that sort of thing it all ends up very complicated.
