"Miami Dolphins starting left guard Josh Sitton is out for the remainder of the season. Sitton tore a rotator cuff in the second half of Sunday’s 27-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans and will require surgery to fix the tear, according to a league source. The Dolphins will replace Sitton in the starting lineup with Ted Larsen, who took almost all the practice work at left guard throughout training camp on days Sitton was held out to rest. Larsen will start on Sunday against the New York Jets. Sitton, 32, previously had issues with his right shoulder. A source said this injury was on the opposite side. Neither the Dolphins nor Sitton are absolutely certain when the injury happened. It seems the player felt a strain on one play, continued playing and later took a hit, which may have completed the tearing of the rotator cuff. A key frustration for the Dolphins is that Sitton was actually on special teams when he initially hurt himself."
Are there any teams with decent guards they might trade for a WR or something else? I think we need to shore up this position. Larsen was injured last season and if he goes we're well and truly up the creek without a paddle. Word is the Cowboys are in need or receivers and they've had a decent OL in recent years - no idea if that's still the case... Anyone any ideas?
Damn... that's about as bad of news as we can get. I guess this won't be the year we see competent line play throughout the season...
This is one of the worst possible players to get hurt. Finally we had what appeared ti be a competent line coming together. Larsen has to come through for us or we'll be back in the same boat we've been in for years. I can't tell you how upsetting this is.
Yikes. I'm now very worried about Laremy Tunsil. Galant, I'm not sure of any trade scenarios, but there are some okay free agent linemen... - Luke Joeckel, massive bust, though there may still be some upside being only 26. - Jahri Evans, if the team is keen on landing another GB vet. Serviceable last season. - Zane Beadles, phenomenal in Denver, fell off in SF--Gase familiarity? - Richie Incognito, just kidding. Best route is probably laying low with Ted Larsen. He's been in the system two years now. But you're right, his health is a concern and we'll be in big trouble if he goes down.
Incognito is available.. just kidding Eh, id trade just about any receiver we have if it means Tannehill will be protected. Problem is teams arent going to be doing trades until maybe week 6 if they feel the season is lost.
Well I hope they are learning their lesson in Miami and invest in a quality guard in the draft next year. I loved the pickup of Sitton this year but face it, the guy is only going to be here short term. Same with Kilgore.
Tunsil, Larsen, Kilgore, Davis, James. We should be okay with those 5. We need those two first round young guys to prove their value, Davis earned his spot and hopefully keeps it up, Kilgore should be at least reliable and not a turnstile, and Larsen should hopefully stand up to the test. But any injuries.....
Bad, but not a disaster like losing Tanny would be. Larsen should be competent at LG, but depth is now a serious issue. I'd like to see a vet Guard brought in to help with that.
The OL looked good in the game. He and Tunsil were solid together. This totally sucks total arse and right before a game with the NJ J--koffs no less.
I would assume Sitton will still be with the team. Can still communicate and lead from the side. The experience in-game is a loss, but Tunsil can still keep learning.
Yep. They had about 1.5 great years but it's coming back to earth now, and while they still have a few good (and expensive) starters, their depth is not good.
Don't they run more of a power scheme? If I understand correctly we need a dancing bear for our zone scheme.
I thought the Cowgirls o line has some injuries that has hit them. Only thing I did know is Prescott was never as good as he was hyped up to be. That was a great line and with that kind of protection any qb would look great.
We may lose Tanny if we can't block anyone. Very bad news for a QB coming off of a knee surgery and a long layoff. With that said, I think we'll be alright. At least until we're not alright. We're going to bury Darnold's head in the turf!! Woo!!
I agree with you. Not defending them, but since they can't seem to evaluate offensive linemen properly in the draft, they need to go with someone who is proven in the NFL.
I read that we might be trading one of our defensive ends for a lineman- Andre Branch's name has been teased out there a lot. That doesn't mean anything will happen there but you never know- it would make sense to grab another starter to keep some depth in place.
