Melo to the Hawks for Schroeder and Muscala. Melo definitely getting waived, Atlanta definitely signaling rebuild.
Melo and a potected 1st to the hawks, oks gets mike muscalas expiring and Dennis Schroeder. Anthony will be waived...my guess is PWR will be happy to see him in houston.
So it's... Okc - Shroeder & Luwawa-Cabarrot Philly - Mike Muscala Atl - Melo & Justin Anderson Woj said Melo will get his full $27 mil in buyout from Atlanta. That's great. He can come to Houston for vet minimum, and Houston can use the $5.3 mil mid-level for more depth. I like it.
Sounds like Melo to the Rockets is almost a sure thing at this point. I’m still not sure I love that for them, but it could be interesting.
It will be a meh signing at best. He isnt even an average off the ball player. He needs the ball and offense to center him to get in rhythm and thats not going to happen with Harden.
He will run well with the second unit. His offense will be just fine I think, but the defense?? Meh...
For what my two cents are worth, I've never really rated Melo. Admittedly I didn't pay attention to him when he was younger so maybe didn't see him at his best, but after the injuries all I've ever seen or heard is hype. I'm honestly amazed how much attention he gets, not just from the media but seemingly from other players. There must have been something there once but I've never seen it.
He has lost a lot of athleticism over the years. At one point he was the best scorer in the NBA mostly because he was a beast down low. Once he tried to become strictly a jump shooter, he became more of a volume/streak scorer.
Wade is receiving a monster contract with a Chinese team, that can further expand his shoe brand in that country... if it makes sense i think he is about to retire from the NBA.
Melo will be fine. I have zero worries about defense or chemistry. Last year, your team's backups had to play against 1 HOFer (Paul)...that was THE biggest reason for 65 wins. Now, they will have to deal with 2 (Paul & Melo). Last year, Harden and Paul only played about 18 minutes per game together...same will happen with Melo in the upcoming season. That means Melo will have 12-13 minutes per game where he is the primary scorer. Also, it's funny seeing all these networks (ESPN & CBS sports) say the Rockets will get worse because we lost Ariza/Moute and gained Melo. Rockets went 14-1 without Ariza last year.
I like watching Melo shoot as much as anyone but if you’re getting him for his defense you haven’t watched his career lol. Plus Look who their coach is... everyone knows, there ain’t D in Mike Antonia coaching scheme. When Pat Riley and players around the league call you the best scorer in the league it tends to draw attention. At his peak, it was take the smaller players down low and bully them and take the big guys outside and iso them....basically watch what Durant does. I’m not sure Melo was ever quite that good but damn if it wasn’t close. Too much praise for the Knicks. I’m really worried. Something stupid will happen soon. It’s the Knicks.
Nah. This team with the new HC and new young core has the arrow pointing directly in the up position. Barring Porz-god leaving us, we will have a great young core and another max spot available soon. This team will be back in the finals in the next 5 years. Book it.
With Legoat gone, and Kyrie bound to leave....Knicks are in a prime spot. Irving Hardaway Knox Porzgod Mitchell That’s a finals team in the east
I want the knicks to be good for the rivalry and I like Knox, but I’m gonna wait until I see him play a meaningful game first.
Thats not including the top 3 pick we will probably be getting this year when we win like 15 games this year
Stop it. Would be the best thing however. But with Fiz, this team should start improving immediately.
He could be a Phil Jackson/Pat Riley/Red Auerbach combo kit of coaching but the talent on this team without KP is bad. We were 12-38 without KP last year. Then again in the east 33 wins may get a playoff spot so we have to be careful about overachieving.
The east being so bad could strengthen the West even more. If an eastern team wins 33 games but makes the playoffs, they’ll be picking lower in the draft than a western team that won 50 games but didn’t make the playoffs. That’s crazy.
Absolutely. Conference system as it currently works needs to be replaced. No reason to keep it beyond tradition and the travel argument - which is honestly the least of all the issues. Not sure it'll happen, but the league will be better off when it makes the change.
http://www.nba.com/article/2018/07/...big-offer-chinese-basketball-association-team 3 year $25 mill offer from the Zhejiang Golden Bulls for Wade. Think he takes it?
No i dont think he will, its not that impressive of a deal to move to china though one thing i will note is that the chinese regular season is about 55% less games played than the nba. So who knows.
Yeah but how long is a season of Chinese basketball? If it’s like 3 or 4 months, that’s pretty nice work. Plus the endorsements he could make would be mind-blowing.
True plus all the hot Asian strange out there but I’m pretty sure he wants to stay here for his sons HS career.
Congrats, Clint. Well earned... Exactly the amount I figured. Average of $18 mil a year. Had to be done.
