Atlanta has way too many guards. Bazemore for Ryan Anderson + pick is starting to look better and better.
If draymond is all nba this season he’s eligible for the max (or super max?) and golden state can’t pay him and klay. Plus cousins will be gone. They’ll still be elite, but not as good. So, we gotta be rooting for draymond to make all nba.
Faried is a sad case. He's about 10-20 years too young. In previous iterations of the NBA game, he'd be a beast. Too bad he never developed a jumper. Definitely still a useful bench/energy guy though.
I'm not an expert on this, so I could be wrong, but I believe they'll have Bird rights on everyone but Boogie. So while it will be incredibly expensive, I believe they can keep all those guys.
This is correct. They can, if they want to, re-sign everyone. Klay alone at the supermax pushes them into OKC tax territory though.

There's honestly no other player in the league that fits Heat culture more than Butler, and we talked about the D Wade tie. How badly does he want to go out and play with Kyrie next year, though? Because it's going to be incredibly difficult for Miami to create space for both. I'd still offer the farm for him with the hope that Wade and Riley can get him to stay. Worst case scenario it forces you into a hard reset, which they might need anyway if they can't land a star.
They're in tax territory, but OKC is approx. $20 million above GSW in salary so OKC has a huge repeater tax bill. By territory I was more meaning that either of them signing a supermax extension gets GSW into the $130 million+ tax bill zone. Right now they're projected at about half of that.

Hes been liked everywhere hes been except OKC where he simply doesnt mesh with Westbrook imo. He needs a pass first guard which is why hes a great fit with CP3. Its not surprising his best years were with Billups, Kidd, Prigioni/Felton.
Jimmy Butler would probably make them a 4 seed, and competitive in the East. They still probably don't get by Boston or Philly, but they'd be a tough out for either team. But more importantly than this year is what having a star does long term. You don't have a chance in this league without one, and you rarely recruit one in FA without another one already on your roster. If you don't have a star, you should be doing everything in your power to get one.
I agree with the latter portion of what you are saying. I don’t think jimmy butler is a true alpha super star nor do I think that adding him gives Miami a legit shot vs a Boston for instance. Philly? ehh maybe. Depends on what Ben Simmons shows up. I’m just not all that impressed with philly.
I think Jimmy Butler is arguably a top 10 player, and based on history, it’s not unreasonable to think he could get even better under Spo. Depending on what they’d have to give up for him, and any other moves they make, they could be a damn good team in the East.
Top 20 for butler. And hes not ascending at 28. Guards usially flame out around 30-32. To be honest the locker room stuff worries me with him. Chicago and now Minny....
He looked gassed vs Boston in the playoffs while in chicago a couple years ago. Like his tank was empty. And I believe that was a round 1 matchup. Top 20 and trending down sounds more right to me.
There’s a difference between an ascending player, and a player that gets better because he’s put in a better position. The Heat under Spo have a history of making players better, at all ages. For me, I don’t worry about the locker room stuff in the least. In both cases the issue has stemmed from a belief that his teammates aren’t taking their jobs seriously enough or aren’t working hard enough. That wouldn’t be an issue in Miami.
There’s some speculation from Ethan Skolnick that not only might Miami still be in discussions about Kawhi, but that they also might be looking to add Aldridge as well, if San Antonio is looking to reset. It’s probably a long shot, but that would make things really interesting in the East if it happened.
If I’m Riley, I make a push cause the East is wide open. Both Philly and Boston are relying on two extremely injury prone players in Embiid and Irving.
There aren’t but 11 or 12 guys I’d take over him right now. He’d be a top 2 or 3 player in the east. Having him would make Miami a more enticing destination for FAs. His game is fun to watch, he has no off court issues, he wants to win. I’m also down with tanking a year or 2 but I have to see these prospects during the college season before I fully jump on the tank.
