An offer to sign and trade from NO counts as an offer to sign a free agent contract? There's literally no reason for him to sign just to be traded. Okay...

Either you’re playing semantics or you don’t understand sign/trades.

Let’s say Portland wants to offer Boogie 2 years at $20 million per. But they can’t sign him as a FA because of the cap. Well, what they CAN do is a sign and trade with New Orleans and have New Orleans sign him for the 2 years and then trade Nurkic and some other pieces to match salaries.

You say there’s “literally no reason for him to sign just to be traded”. The literal reason is if the team that wants to throw money at him is up against the cap. There’s your reason.

And Boogie is still a liar. He knows he pulled a ***** move. His false claim that he had no offers is an attempt to save face. At the expense of the Pelicans. That is why I’m upset. FIN.

You realize that the sign-and-trade offer never actually materialized right?

You’re deflecting. You asked WHY WOULD HE SIGN AND TRADE? I answered. And then there’s this:

I don’t know why you care so much to engage with me on this. You’re moving the goalposts and playing silly semantically games.

You need official statements from the team. You show a basic ignorance of how free agency works and when i explain it to you, you deflect into a deal that fell through but actually answers your own stupid question.

I like you. But now you’re just getting annoying and disingenuous. Happy 4th. Buh bye.

What's disingenuous about what I've said? You rightly pointed out that a sign-and-trade can be the equivalent of a free agent deal. I looked into it and found out that it never even materialized. So far you've said that he was offered a $12 million deal and a sign-and-trade, both of which don't appear to have happened. Dude, the team never offered him anything. He's not lying.

I'm not trying to be an *******, but there were literally no contract or sign and trade offers from NO, no significant offers (per Spears' original tweet), and them's the facts. Those were the very first topics we were discussing.

EDIT: Wait, that was New York Knicks Tim Hardaway Jr.? Yikes.

I'm not sure there is a player in the league that fits Heat culture better than Jimmy Butler. That and his tie to Wade could make him a real possibility in Miami.

Apparently he wants to play with Kyrie. Both are free agents next year as is Klay Thompson. That’s a solid 1-2-3 right there.

I can't see how any team gets all 3, and Miami would have to do some serious gymnastics to move enough money to even get two. But I trust Riley. I think the plan will be to try and trade for Butler, sell him on staying, and see what they can do from there.

Damian Liliard is telling people he wants to go to the Lakers.

I swear we (the Heat) broke the NBA, no one wants to compete anymore ever wince we started this. The top guys want to play for Golden State or wherever Lebron is. Sheesh.

If true then he was FOS saying he’d rather win 1 in Portland than chase the ring.

We did what Boston did, only more potent. 3 all stars scheming to play together. It was unprecedented. But Golden State is becoming a joke with their level of super teaming. I don’t see this problem going away either. It only takes 3-4 guys out of the hundreds in the nba to decide to **** it up for the rest of us. It’s fair to blame the heat somewhat. Mainly blame Lebron, he’s a sneaky snake.

For the first time in a long time, I’d take our next 5 years over many other teams next 5 years....

Been a while since I felt that way

Gotta conserve cap space for that to happen. Thats not something the Knicks have historically been good at. This year has to be about trading Lee and TH JR for as much as possible and opening that 2nd max slot while tanking for a top 3 pick imo. RJ Barrett or Zion Williamson would look good as Knicks

Zion is interesting. He's basically a 6'6" center. We'll see how his game translates.

I feel like there's no way they go into, or at least finish the season with that bill. I would imagine Melo is either going to get traded, or waived and stretched. The Heat actually make some sense for them as a trade partner, because they may be fine taking back longterm deals if they can shed tax money.

Zion reminds me a lot of pre injury LJ. Hes athletic, tough and physical, yet has some range.

As for OKC, ya i coukd see that with Melo. I think it may make sense for them to try and send Melo to miami, indy, toronto or philly if they can get a young player or pick and relief cap wise.

Melo still has his no-trade clause. He isn't getting traded. Either buyout or waive&stretch. Saves them $91 mil in luxury tax. I would expect Melo in Houston (or LA) soon afterwards for vet minimum. Rockets still have $5.4 mil in cap room waiting on him. Melo finally gets his wish.

Looks like we are going to get Clint Capela for cheap as well...the only teams with over $10 mil in cap room left are the Bulls, Hawks, Kings. None of them need a center, lol. Poor Clint.

Well, we've only lost Ariza. Luc Mbah a Moute is still hanging around waiting to see how much more than the vet minimum will the Rockets give him after a potential Melo signing.

The Rockets did bring in 2 of the best defensive 6'8" wings during the draft. Two names to keep an eye on during summer league (Morey just tweeted about them 30 minutes ago, lol)...

    Gary Clark
    Vincent Edwards
Both shot over 40% from three and are excellent defenders.

Local beat guys and podcasters have danced around this for a while now: that the team had better chemistry on and off the court without Boogie.

I'm done with being frightened that AD will leave in free-agency in 2 seasons. He's eligible for the super-duper max. Pels can offer him $84 million more than any other team. No one's ever turned that kind of money down.

Besides Jimmy Butler (who I mentioned weeks ago), a new name that i am hearing from Rockets' sources is Otto Porter Jr.

Something to keep an eye on.

Derrick Jones Jr is showing a lot of promise in summer league.. Spo is going to have to step in soon and put the finishing touches on him. As of right now he looks like the starting shooting guard for us next season.

The issue is will he get the touches he requires to take his game to the next level. Or will he be viewed as a 20 MPG player off the bench. Chances are, they wont even use him and theyll rely on Dion and richardson which is a mistake.

Bam is also showing a lot and so is Duncan Robinson. There is a youth movement swinging in soon for the Heat that is going to force their hand .

He looks great and I’m excited for him. He’s everywhere on the court. Hitting 3s(except today he went 0-3 but still shot 50% overall) playing legit defense, blocking shots, getting boards. The athleticism on the dunks is insane.

I keep watching Bam highlights from last year and can’t help but get excited about his potential on offense. He looks smoother with the ball than Hassan. Hassan can’t handle the ball for ****.

So Knicks 2nd round pick Mitchell Robinson has been working out with AD for months. Fizdale called him an athletic freak. 7 feet with 3 point range and can jump out of the building...yes please

ESPN is reporting that Houston, Miami, and LAL are the main three teams in the Carmelo conversation. Others are involved but he's likely to end up in one of these places.

I question if we'll be able to send them two guys. TJ is the obvious choice, but if we match salaries then is OKC actually gaining anything?
