I like Minkah Fitzpatrick very much. I think in our defense, Fitz fits. SWIDT? Oh, I crack me up... Now it gets pretty interesting. The "people" in Miami are (and have been for a time) about how TJM can be that hybrid LB in the nickel and dime (or whenever required). The thinking by some is that makes SLB not that huge of a liability now because we play in the nickel probably 60% of snaps. I still think we need to address it (so probably means we wont--though I did nail the first pick). A few other options: Tight End--Gase's offense is (to some extent) predicated on the TE being flexed and causing the defense to choose coverage option. If they put a bigger guy on him, throw it to him. If they put a smaller guy on him, run behind him. But make the TE at least appear to be an option that can hurt the defense. Right now, that does not exist. Neither did it last year. So its a huge need, IMOs . Defensive Tackle--there are going to be some very good options here...BJ Hill, Tim Settle, maybe a few others. Need to replace a WHOLE BUNCH of snaps played by Suh. It would be good to get a quality player that can make a difference. Swing Tackle--We need to think about next year with the OT. What if we don't extend James? What if Tunsil can't transition, and we need to move him to OG or move on? One guy I really like is Brandon Parker...I watched some film on him and he was impressive. Running back--I know we have Gore (but he's old for a RB). We need a guy that can run the ball on short yardage downs to save Kenyon Drake. I would like Bo Scarbrough, but there are a bunch of good running backs. Quarterback--Need to start looking, obviously. My preference or Lauletta or White...but what do I know? Anyway, should be an interesting day. As always, we'll have a better idea of what this team is going to look like after Day Two.
We need another third rounder this year, given all the needs. I'd rather trade a future pick though, than give up our position in the second round. Grab the best TE left at 42, then a DT in the third and a future second rounder for a later third to take Falk/Lauletta. In the fourth you grab a RB and how about Daniel Carlson the kicker with the Eagles fourth rounder (if he is still there)?
Strong side backer was never such a huge liability as long as it was a 2 down role. Heck chase Allen can play a starting caliber base strong side backer and we have Anthony to compete. However regardless of Anthony and tj McDonald as nickel and dime options Miami has to hedge their bets here with an additional nickel add at lb. And there’s no better fit for that and value than Darius Leonard. Range at lb still a primary need and lots of meat on the bone upside wise as an off the los lb in Leonard. 6 foot 2 weight dropped to 226 post combine I think he can carry 235 on that frame by the time he’s done and not scrape the athlete arm length is excellent too. But I’d watch for Malik Jefferson as long as he’s on the board. He’s got poa thump for strong and is a nickel athlete. North south missile.
Think that Dallas may not have their rd.2 , pick #50... Working on a trade with Seahawks for Earl Thomas.. Seattle wants their sec. rd pick
