Parcells has seen enough to know what he needs to do to get the Dolphins competitive again and he will soon execute that plan with no regard for giving this coaching staff a second chance because they had an Injury plagued season. The mere fact Cam brought a rookie strength an condition coach that never ran a professional team speaks volumes,("That could put the Dolphins’ strength and conditioning coaches in a precarious spot. Brian Schiotz followed Cameron from the Chargers and never had directed an NFL strength and conditioning program before, while assistant Brad Ohrt is completing his first NFL season in any capacity".Palm Beach Post). the foundation of an athlete is his strength an conditioning, without that you can never elevate your game and improve because your not on the field. Cam's decision's have been head scratchers all year but this initial one was severely overlooked. Now with an experienced Football man in town these minor things that play major roles in the regular season will be addressed more professionally. Because at the end of the day isn't that how a "Professional Football Team" should be run?
I think that was definitely one of the mistakes that Cameron should take heat for. That's what haapens though when you're a rookie
Thats troubling but I am also bewildered how Cam approaced training camp and the preseason. Him not game planning for the prseason games and the way the players were used. It seems like he had no concern for their conditioning and preparation for the start of the regular season. Maybe its just me but it seemed like the team went into the first game flat and stayed that way all season. I was embarrased for Cam in the way he announced and tried to justify the Ginn pick by saying we had drafted the whole Ginn family and he was a good kick returner, however I do like Ginn but haven't seen any of his family play yet?
If this is true could you please explain how a better conditioning coach would have prevented: 1) Trent Green's concussion. 2) Ronnie Brown's torn ACL. Keep in mind that a ligament is not a muscle and that you cannot strengthen a tendon through exercise. You can strengthen the supporting muscles, although that can lead to injuries from the muscles being too strong for the tendon (see Boston, David). The best analogy for a tendon is that it's a rope with a breaking strain. 3) Zach Thomas' concussion and non football related whiplash.
good points, and I'll add S&C has been a problem for awhile. The last 3 years, it was not being ready to start the season, during the JJ/Wanny years, we faltered as the season went on. Our team generally is not in shape for a full season. As for Cam's mistakes. He did not treat preseason and TC the right way. Giving JT,Traylor, and Zach the summers off fine, but he made some questionable calls. 1)Having Ronnie return kicks in preseason 2)Not playing Hadnot or Shelton with the first team most of camp and preseason even though he knew they'd be starters. 3)Not gameplanning in preseason so players can learn the system. And as I've said before, Cam has made some very very very questionable playcalls this year, and has done horrible with clock management. Though Armstrong and Capers should take a lot of blame since Capers has been horrible with his defensive calls, and Armstrong's special teams have been special in a different way.
