He had poor grades when you look at his pff scores before Jimmy Garropolo took over. When Jimmy took over, his grades shot up. A solid pick up for us.

Kilgore is a smart signing. Smart guy, didn't allow a pressure or a hit or a sack when Jimmy G came in. Good run blocker. Very friendly deal. It's really a one year deal. He earns $4.825 fully guaranteed for year one.

Our offensive line has transformed in a single day. Its looking very solid, and takes away a need at the draft.

Miami does have to pay his bonus tomorrow though. SF off the hook there. But still, I like the move.

Well the Niners signed the Giants center to a big deal and no longer needed Kilgore.

That was fast as heck though! I don't think I've ever seen a player at a position cut and another one brought in so quickly to fill it.

Pump the breaks because we still need to draft lineman. These dudes are not in their 20s and i rather not wait until we need more lineman to go get them.

    Nice signing.

The best part is it looks like a team friendly contract at a cheap price. Win-win.

He’s nothing special serviceable though and cheaper and we upgraded at left guard provided he can stay healthy.

I think we are done on the o line look to have what we need

Tunsil Sitton Kilgore Jesse davis James

With 4 guys competing for 2 active depth spots brendel Larsen (if we don’t cut him) the Eric smith Sam young

My moneys on brendel and Sam young as the active depth although Larsen’s interior versatility could win out

Asiata as the 2 deep potential right guard only looks to be inactive roster bubble guy

Things are changing quickly on the OL. Plus Pouncey was probably part of the culture change they wanted to make. Frankly, I think the OL looks solid at this point, with a bit of depth too.

I wonder what the cap savings will be spent on?

    $3.6M in 2020.

We keep talking about the culture change in Miami. I'm not going to say that Landry, Suh, and Pouncey were a problem, but we speak of culture change, and suddenly the three of the four (Wake) alpha personalities we had on this team are all gone. Pouncey to a lesser degree, but he was still one of our more intimidating players. I think parting ways with these guys has been a good thing. I didn't know how I would react and I have spent the last 8 months hoping like heck that we would keep Landry, but once the trade happened my feelings changed. I was against cutting Suh, but again...It felt right when it happened, the same goes for Pouncey.

I like the additions we've added to the offensive line. These are football player first type of guys. Both Kilgore and Sitton are brawlers in the trenches, I feel really good about this. I definitely like that we brought James back, that would have been stupid to get rid of him. Lets hope he comes back rejuvenated and smashes it next season. Can't forget about Tunsil either...Third year...Who knows? Maybe he busts the eff out this year and becomes an all pro.
Hopefully we wont have any depth issues with the O line either. Injuries are going to happen of course, that's why i'm all for keeping Larsen (experience), Sam Young (as awful as he can be at times), and hoping that Asiata (after his medication and meditation) takes a step further in his development.

This all looks cool to me so far, the draft will obviously provide some more foreshadowing as well, so we need to knock that out of the park. It's time to have a decent draft. No more of this Leonte Carroo BS.

Two things Tannehill absolutely is without question: Smart and accurate.

He's also more mobile than most any QB that qualifies as a pocket passer. Given protection (which all QBs need) you'll see his "pocket presence" (in quotes b/c he's rarely had a pocket to manipulate) improve simply due to better pass pro and scheme driven production.

false, Thill has shown mobility on CALLED mobile plays. On plays where he's about to eat ****, he eats **** without moving an inch. If he's so smart, he'd make better line coverage calls as well which would help make up for the line deficiencies.

Speaking of "smart", how about you figure out who makes the line protection calls on offense and then get back to me.

The QB calls it, the center calls the shifting. so both. But if the QB isn't smart enough only so much the center can do... for example before Kil had a smart QB in SF and the last 6 weeks in SF with Jimmy G.

Wrong. QB's simply ID the center of the defense for the lineman as they can't see over the first level. After that, because the QB has about a dozen other responsibilities in the presnap phase, it's the centers responsibility to make the correct line calls and shifts. And in the run game it's exclusively the center.

Occasionally a QB make shift calls (which Tannehill does as well) mostly relating to the RB to make trade motion in pass pro if/when the defense makes a strength adjustment across the LOS.

  32. I suspect as time goes Garoppolo is going to make a lot of folks that play with him look awfully good. #17 seems like a fairly bright lad, I am uncertain what his mobility will be like post knee-shred. Lots of questions for sure, but if I am #17 I would be pleased with today's additions. He is being given every chance to succeed...as I said before, time for #17 to **** or get off the pot. I hope he makes prodigious dumpage this year as his play will decide much of our fortune or misery once again.

I wouldn’t be surprised if brendel is the starting pivot by the bye week

Provided he has developed more core strength in the offseason program

Wrong. The QB orders the pizza. The lineman eat it. The rookies pay for it.

Personally, don't really think we'll be seeing the same mobility. Now his lack of "lateral/peripheral" agility is going to come into play.
