Its no secret I don't like this front office! My question to you is if you are the owner what record do the dolphins need to have to keep this current regime? To clarify I am talking tannebaum and grier. For me its 10-6.Anything less bye!The only exception is a 9-7 wildcard.
This team needs to rebuild. Coach is there Need Wade Phillips type to divide and help Gase get long term plans and systems in place. A coach that knows his place and will allow Gase to save face and still be "The Man". Fire Tannenbaum or severly restrict his input on player personal and.contracts - been there done that - NO MORE Greer needs to be allowed to do his job unimpeeded. I would look to move Tannehill in next 2 yrs. Conditions would need to be right. I wouldnt move him for the sake of moving him. However, at almost 20m a yr - maybe Record - doesnt matter - no chance at superbowl in near future
To keep the front office, I think it takes 7-9 WITH a healthy Tannehill. Or it could be as high as 8-8 if we really screw up in the first few rounds of the draft. Luckily for our front office though, we're going 13-3 and winning the Super Bowl next season.
Its tough to scrutinize yourself. There is so many little things that is so obvious, some not. One does not have to look far. The roster a mess. Not sure what people were thinking with the Suh deal. Tannenbaum mortgaged the last 2 yrs plus this yr on a DT - huh??? The base was loud - the signing - to shut them up. The roster has been built *** end backwards. More money must.flow to every position equally. Example : look at NE. Their avergae OL makes 2.7, miami 1.7 last I looked. It seems simple but that little bit gibes you better overall talent. In this league its the littlest edge that makes a difference. Now take that with a 100 other very small edges and........
I won't be happy with anything less than 9-7. Philbin had no trouble taking us to 8-8, and so far Gase is averaging 8-8 over two (regular) seasons. If in year 3 he doesn't produce at least 9-7 I'm going to turn on Gase. And I say that understanding that there have been coaches that needed 4+ years before succeeding. Thing is, they usually took over bottom dwellers while Gase was given an "average" team to work with. So 8-8 or worse for me will be a failure.
Grier has doen a decent job actually. I could give or take Tbaum at this point. I think we're seeing Gase seize more control of things. If that's the case, I'm fine with Tbaum sticking around being the dealmaker for what Gase & Grier want. Say what you will about Landry was actually worth, but considering we were in a no leverage situation, getting a 4th & 7th (which may go up possibly) is actually pretty good. Before the flames start, I'm not saying he got all the Landry may have been worth, I'm saying we had ZERO leverage. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Everyone knew we couldn't afford Landry at $16 mil for one year and do anything else to improve the team. Because everyone knew that, we had no bargaining power. I just don't want Tbaum making personnel decisions.
This why I wanted to trade him last year so we would have gotten value. The dolphins own fault they had no leverage.
Again, no argument on that part and also no idea who kept that from happening. All i'm saying is that under the circumstances as they were yesterday, the "haul" wasn't that bad.
I think this FO is going to be around a while. Either we let them ride out the Tannehill years or if they're going after a new QB this year then we've got to let them work with that talent for 2-3 years minimum.
Your right they were hard pressed to get a better deal at that point.I didn't care that they traded him but I was thinking wes Welker value at least.A 4th and a 7th is very dissapointing.Especially a couple hours later somehow the bills got the first pick in 3rd for taylor who everybody knew was Deadman walking up there.
For me it isn't a matter of record, but one of all around steady growth. So, I guess the bar for me would be set a little lower than some of you. I want to see steady player development, wise personnel moves, intelligent play calling, a team playing together with great chemistry, etc. It might be slow and steady, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. I think Tannenbaum and Grier believe they can buy a team. That might be true in the NBA, but in the NFL the salary cap can really wreck havoc if you screw up. We could write a book on that, right? Bucky Brooks was saying on his Move the Sticks podcast that in the draft you are looking to hit doubles and not always go for the homerun. He believes doubles (guys that are productive members on your team) will go much further than always just swinging for the fence. Better to hit on a slightly lessor player than strike out on a potentially great player. I like that philosophy. Too bad, Tannenbaum seems like a swing for the fence type of guy. Every dog has his day, so hopefully he will get lucky this year!
Would be epic to see Tanny win a super bowl this year, what would all the haters say at that point? We could’ve won with Matt Moore?
I don't have the answers, but I think Gase is going to really pull out all the stops on offense this year. I think he is embarrassed from our dismal production last year. Our defense is set up to play with a lead. They need our offense to be highly productive so they stay rested and when they do come in it's to really get after the QB. Everybody is talking about big changes coming. The can add a player or two and it might help, but I think they are more concerned with team chemistry. They seem to be getting rid of the me first kind of guys.
Ummm.. just for info, the number of teams with 30+ ppg: 2017: 0 2016: 1 2015: 2 2014: 2 2013: 1 2012: 2 2011: 3 2010: 1 etc... Maybe you're setting the bar a little too high? haha.
A Playoff win, got rid of Landry, and Ajayi for peanuts. Two of our better players and whom helped lead us to a playoff birth in 2016. So at least a playoff win.
