Daniel Greenberg @ChiSportUpdates @ChiSportUpdates: The Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins have had conversations about Jarvis Landry and a third-round pick to the Bears in exchange for Jordan Howard and a swap of the Dolphins pick at No. 11 overall for the Bears at No. 8. (Via @moonmullinNBCS) Another potential exciting offseason..... going nowhere with out quality OL upgrade... But if ....He's definitely a keeper.....
I have no idea if this trade will take place. If the Dolphins are trying to trade up in the first round, it would appear they are likely interested in drafting a QB in the first round. Because they don’t need to trade up to get a quality position player in this years draft at 11. They do need to move up if they hope to draft one of the higher rated QB’s in this years draft and this trade with the Bears, if it does happen, would make drafting one of those QB’s more plausible IMO.
I would be SO happy if we took a chance on QB this year. The fortunes of a modern day NFL team can drastically change if they hit on the right QB (only the coach/GM is more important) and you can't succeed if you don't try! And if you fail.. well keep building around Tannehill then. But I'd respect Gase a ton if he decided to go after a potentially great QB when he already has a starting QB that is a bit above average but unlikely to ever be great.
Starting to hear Bears not interested in doing that deal...and the plot thickens Move up to 8 opens more than the QB option which IMO is more what would happen. Nelson Edmunds A. Smith Fitzpatrick might all be there....
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/03/03/source-jarvis-landry-jordan-howard-trade-is-a-no-go/ Fake news!
The only player I would be happy with trading anything to move up for would be Barkley, and he doesn't make it past the Browns at IMO. So no trade up. Trade down, sure.
Perhaps the plan is to trade up to trade back down. 11 is not a great position to make others trading up bite on, 8 on the other hand could be quite tempting as the QB market starts to play out. You'd have to imagine most in the organisation realise we're more than a couple of players away from having super bowl aspirations and therefore perhaps the plan is to stock up on talent in the draft this year and then make some other moves in FA in order to try and sort out our cap issues.
