I'm not use to SI giving us praise. On Page 2 under Frankly Speaking. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...rdi/08/22/frankly.football/index.html?eref=T1 Quote: • From the South Florida Sun Sentinel: "Two, one, I'm not sure where they are right now," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said of the QB depth chart. "It's hard to tell. Chad [Pennington] hasn't had a lot of work right now. But I feel really comfortable with Chad Henne and my evaluation of where he is. I think he's developed a bunch since the start of rookie camp." Henne has been very impressive for the Dolphins and could not be in a better situation for his growth as he becomes an NFL quarterback. Henne, right now, appears to be the best rookie quarterback in the 2008 draft, and even though the Dolphins have signed Pennington to be the starter, look for Henne to receive regular season work.
Glad that they finally have something to praise. Seems like it's been a long time since we as fans have had anything to look forward to. I'm psyched right now about the future.
Agreed, it is really good to see that a few of the guys from this years draft are already showing such promise. It just reassures me that this team is going in the right direction.
More important than Henne's development, at least to me, has been the obvious improvement in our ability to control the line of scrimmage. Not just on one side of the ball, but on both the offensive and defensive lines. Henne looks good. I think he'll help us down the road. However, right now, what's going to help us, and where we've improved the most, is at the point of attack. I'm still concerned about the special teams, but I like the way we're pushing other teams off the ball in the preseason. We're finally going to start winning some games again. Bank on it.
I think he hit it on the head with our QB situation. Pennington likely won't finish the season (one 16 game season in his career) which leaves Henne with the remaining games. Referring to Larry Little's post, I agree. It all starts and ends in the trenches.
I think the biggest reason we look rough in the Special Teams department is the experimenting and tweeking. They are rotating a bunch of bubble guys in to see if they can cut it or not. By tonight's game and next weeks game I look to see much better play as opposed to the last 2 games as these should be our dress rehersals.
It is nice to see some pro-Fins propaganda...but are the few that have praise for us just doing it so that they can say "I told you so" if we surprise anyone this coming season ?? As to Larry Little...I think we all agree that OL and DL play make or break any team and it's great to see this team improve in both those areas, but having the right QB is just as important...if you don't believe me, see the Fins since Danny left...
Compared to other national sports mags/sites, I find SI to be a bit more favorable towards the Dolphins.
I am glad Tony is comfortable with Henne cuz he chewed his *** out twice at least against Jacksonville. I think Henne realizes(as he should) that Tony yells at him cuz he knows that Chad has what it takes.
OK guys.........tell me why I am wrong on this. I dont have as much optimism as I did on our D line. We dont seem to put much pressure at all on the QB. The Jax QBs had way to long to find an open WR all game long. what u say?
I was too busy watching the Wolverines, but I did notice that Roth absolutely pole-axed the Jags LT. Can't wait to see what he does to TE's and RB's
Well, we did get pressure on KC QBs tonite, but that comes with knowing how terrible they are. Still, 5 sacks is good.
I'd love to see Henne get about 50-100 snaps this season as long as they are because Miami has a 35-13 lead in a half dozen games or so.
i don't so much care that he praised us as much as we have something/have done something TO praise....love it!
