Two former dolphins general managers have had great years. Rick Spielman has the Vikings one game from the Super Bowl and the Saints just had the best draft of the century!
Spielman was handcuffed to Wannstadt, that would cripple any GM, and he was sacked to make way for Saban. As for Ireland, the drafting side of things wasn’t where he really screwed the pooch. It was getting into power struggles with coaches, making low ball offers to players and generally being an arrogant prig that hurt the phins. Also with the saints they aint letting him anywhere near a negotiating table.
Spielman took a looooooong time to develop, probably because he was hampered by the worst thing that ever happened to this franchise...Wannidiot. Ireland could find talent, he couldn't build a team.
Sad part the phins last playoff win was under wanny. He was more successful than any coach we had since johnson..That's sad.
Ireland is not the GM of the Saints. Mickey Loomis is the Saints GM and Ireland is basically a glorified scout for the Saints. As a scout, Ireland is quite satisfactory but as a GM, he sucked.
