LB, LB, G, and FS. We can't cover a TE for ish. Gotta fix that now.

That said if Barkley (RB) is available at 11 I wouldn't even think about it. And he may very well be.

We also need a TE who can take the top off the middle of the field.

But if we don't go for BPA rounds 1-3 it should be LB's and G's, just like the last five years.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Alonso was moved from mike to will because he did not play well last year aside from a few highlight plays. The team decided that he is a more natural will, but he still sucked there as well. McMillan is a natural Mike, you would be playing him out of position at will. His skill set does not match up at all with the will linebacker position. Please get a clue.

With Hayden Hurst's stock dropping, I've got my eye on Roquan Smith--I think he's going to be a future all-pro.

Plus, the Raekwon and Roquan duo just sounds legendary.

Roquan is highly overrated. He is terrible at getting off blocks and working through traffic. He is an easy block whenever somebody gets their hands on him. He is good at running sideline to sideline and making plays when he can run free, but whenever he runs into a blocker he has a lot of trouble. He is also not very good in coverage.

He might be good will, but don't see him playing Mike or Sam at a high level in the NFL.

I would select Tremaine Edmunds over Smith hands down. Edmunds is a much better and more dynamic athlete and a better linebacker.

Smith is excellent in the run and fantastic against the pass. He is undersized and I'd like to see him playing around 230lbs.

If Smith is utilized correctly he will be an All Pro in no time. But you're right, he isn't great at shedding blocks and if he's not used right he will disappear.

However, he has 1st round talent and just like 99% of all NFL players, he needs the right coach, system, and support in order to succeed.

If the Dolphins were able to get him at 11 I'd be excited, but not overly optimistic because Burke has shown that he hasn't yet figured out how to best utilize a player's strength. (See Kiko) Hopefully he learned from last year.

No, at pick #11 in the first round we should not be picking a guy with obvious flaws like roquan. That was our mistake last year as well in picking harris, a player with too many flaws and an obvious hole in his game. In the first round I want a player who is great all around with no obvious flaws.

If we go linebacker I repeat I would select Tremaine Edmunds over Roquan without a doubt. Edmunds is 6'5 250 and is faster than roquan. He has the size and athleticism to cover tightends which we have desperately needed here for ages. He is also a lot better than Roquan at shedding blocks and working through traffic.

If you watch film on both I don't see how you can conclude that Roquan would be the better pick.

I cannot see Barkley getting to 11. He's better than Gurley, Zeke and Fournette, all of whom went well before 11. Hell, I would not be shocked at all to see the Browns take him at #1 (with QB either in free agency or at #4).

They could call our defense "The Quandry!" As for Hurst, I have seen several mocks with him available to us in round 2. I would be happy with him there.

Every single player coming out of the draft and every player currently in the NFL has flaws.

    Every. Single. Player.

And I didn't say anything about Edmunds so I have no idea what you're whining about now. Go back and re-read my post, understand it this time, and reply to the content instead of going off on some wild tangent.

No player is perfect, but there are players available with a solid all around game and no big weaknesses or flaws, especially at the top of the first round. Roquan is not one of them. He is undersized and terrible at getting off blocks. That to me disqualifies him as an acceptable pick for us at #11 overall. I wouldn't touch him until the second round.

What's your personal philosophy in this hypothetical:

Player that fits a glaring need but has flaws you speak of vs. player that doesn't fit a need but has a "great all-around game"?

The question for me after studying the player is, can he match up in the passing game with his limited size, or is that always gonna be a something that tight ends can win in the matchup, and he has to play will, cause we have Raekwon at mike, so he's got to go out there, and is that all worth the #11 spot..

Im trying to find the next Deion Jones, who I wanted to draft a couple years, to play alongside Raekwon..I think Ro has some similarities like, angles and speed to the ball carrier, tackling ability is excellent, good position specific athleticism, I believe Ro to have that, but Deion had those two or three extra inches to help him in coverage.

Just draft all the "Kwons" It's wild how many there are now. It's like the Brittany explosion of ten yrs ago. But seriously, the power of the Kwon could be great with this team. Roquan or Saquon at 11 and I'm stoked. Saquon at 11 and a trade to move up for Roquan in the mid twenties!!!!!

Lol. Do you even grasp the ridiculous premise your post suggests. According to you, the dolphins coaching staff and front office watched kiko play an entire season where he sucked at MLB and then rewarded his incompetence by extending his contract three years. Add in the fact that the majority of knowledgeable posters here say he was fine at mlb, not great but serviceable, not a negative and I would think most rational people would question their impressions that he sucked at mlb. Maybe your standards are too high. Perhaps you want an all pro at every position. Of course would need a salary cap of 500 million to field that kind of team so maybe you need to lower your expectations for some positions and realize the super bowl winner is a blend of great, good and competent players not just 22 all pros.

It's not LB. McMillan and Alonso should be the only Lbs on the field most the time. S.Anthony looks like a nice player too. Plenty of good Lbs to be had in Free Agency, revisit Zach Brown?

I reluctantly believe it's OL, yet again....Hard to find in Free agency without breaking the bank for a stopgap type vet.. As of now we have Tunsil, Larsen,Pouncey,Davis, and James. (Steen,Young,Asiata,Smith)

It seems there's a contingency plan if they decide not to pay James. Davis kicks outside, Larsen moves to RG. 9mil saved? Sounds good, if Davis as good outside as inside. I don't think so, & Larsens also not Davis. So who would play LG then? Urbik? Asiata never saw the field in 2017.(I still like the pick, player)

Mike Pouncey finally played a whole season, and the results: a broken down player that can't practice, doesn't play nearly well enough to get paid like a probowler.

So even if they pay James, it's likely only a one year deal. Even if they keep Pouncey, he's not the same and unlikely to last 16. If I had to chose ( we probably do ) I'd pay, try to resign James and move Pouncey. We may wind up having to replacing both. This means Davis is a tackle, Steens a center, and there's nothing left at guard! We need a center & tackle, preferably both, as well as help at guard!

My runner ups: QB & TE. Also hard to find without drafting one. Time to go back to the offensive side this year after taking Harris,McMillan,Tankersly,Godchaux etc.

This would be the worst possible mistake we could possibly have- who trades starting linemen when they have a problem at line? James had an excellent season last year and if they believe he's returning at 100%, then they need to pay him. The only way I'd trade him is if it's another Jake Long scenario and he's going to be playing hurt- then I can see getting his value today. Otherwise, they can't keep making these stupid trades to save a few bucks on OL/DL.

Drafting OL in the first round this year will be a huge mistake. I'm not saying that a G or two isn;t needed, but wait until you get down further in the draft.

I voted CB/S, but the more I watch Ro Smith the more I like. Fitz, Edmunds, or Mo Smith would make me happy at 11.

No chance Barkley is available at 11. Consider it a blessing, because of Barkley and the 3-4 potential QB’s before us, we should land a solid player that shouldn’t have been there. Key word should.

I agree on S if not a LB, but what natural free safety that can cover will be worth the pick at #11? Derwin James is a strong safety to me that could certainly help cover TE’s, but if we were to draft him we would have 3 strong safety’s. Thinking they should go Defensive line or linebacker round 1, best tight end or free safety available for round 2 and 3. Grab one guard in free agency and 1 mid to late round in the draft.

Fitz and Edmunds are free safeties that can cover extremely well. Mo Smith is a smaller LB, but he can cover and tackle with the best of them. He does seem to have a hard time shedding blockers, but if he's protected, like they did for him in GA, he'd be a beast and I think could cover even Gronk or Kelce.

Fitzpatrick? Or assuming he is gone by 11?

We should be - both in actuality and for gamesmanship (maybe a team wants to move up if, say, Mayfield is sitting at 11). While I am not a big fan of moving down in general, for a huge package and to the right team we have to consider it.

I’ve looked closely at Edmunds, I see a player who doesn’t have the vision and instincts to be worth the 11 the pick in the draft..we can’t afford to take players who don’t have vision and instincts as their #1 traits, even if he’s a better athlete,

I would say the same thing to you Hitman..

If you wanna see something pretty cool, watch Shaqeem griffin’s cool and calm nature when diagnosing the play, then watch how frantic Edmunds is when the play unfolds..

Sometimes imo you have to be careful with size and athletic ability, if you just watch highlights ( not saying you did) you can miss that when a player knows his read presnap you can be blown away and fooled with the athletic ability.. but when the same player has to discect, it’s a completely different story.

Kind of like a player we have on our roster now... I warned many folks that Stephone Anthony was exactly that, a player where if he knew the play presnap you would see speed and ability, but if he didn’t, you would see a bust...no thank you..but the dude was selected in the first round...

    Back up at best..

Roquon is a better football player that Edmunds, don’t even think it’s close.. now is he the right choice at 11.. don’t know yet..

It’s tough...Smith is a “better prospect” and prob more pro ready but I’d rather gamble on Edmunds given we need someone to cover tight ends desperately. I would take either but the phins will end up taking someone else anyways.

His read and react skills still need some work, but he is young and that can be coached up and will get better. His stack and shed ability however is off the charts. He is much better than Roquan at getting off and through blocks. It's not even close in that department. He is also a lot bigger, stronger and faster than roquan.

Edmunds deficiencies can be coached up and improved a lot easier than roquan's.

that’s a good point, and because of his youth I can’t argue it too much, he is bigger, not sure if he’s faster or stronger though, we’ll find out at the combine, which I love and think is an important part of the evaluation, he def sheds better than roquon..

Do you want to wait on a kid to develop when your picking at 11?

I’m not sure I would go roquon at 11 either at this point, it will depend on grades and positions of other prospects..I was just comparing the two at this point.. I would have to trust my own instincts and go with Smith..

Depends on if Edmunds blows up the combine or not. If he does we will be lucky to get him at 11 as his stock will shoot up. However if he has and average combine I wouldn't pick neither him or roquan at 11. Preferably I would trade down for more picks and pick Edmunds at the bottom half of the first.
