Seriously? Looked safe in the pocket. Threw some bombs, albeit in the last quarter. Looked MUCH better than Tan / Moore / Cutler. Ditch all three and go with Fales I say. Oh and get a new one in the draft.
I personally like Moore as the backup. He’s good for the Tannehill, he’s good for the team dynamic. The writing might be on the wall as he did not suit up yesterday?
Didn’t see the game yesterday nor did I have a desire to but for those who did, anyone know why Cutler was pulled? Was it just to give Fales playing time?
Hahahaha *Breathes* Bahahahahahahaha This is why we can't have nice things. Nothing about Fales looked better than Tannehill yesterday.
Reports are out about Ross reaching out to retired quarterbacks Paul Blake and Willie Beamen. Ross is apparently dumb enough to believe that characters in movies are real. Discuss
The fact that he has a giant tribal tattoo on his arm in 2018 as a white guy pretty much disqualifies him from any discussion of being good at anything.. Discuss..
The fact that he purposely ran out of bounds a yard short of the 1st down marker, with his career on the line, pretty much disqualifies him from any further discussion
It was the plan all along- Cutler got the first drive then sat the rest of the game. Several rookies were mixed in the action yesterday.
There was nobody in a Dolphins uniform even in the general vicinity of that pass so I'm guessing one of two things happened- a receiver ran the wrong route OR Fales didn't know where the receiver was going. After a fairly solid game, I wouldn't judge Fales too critically either way.
For his first NFL start, it's hard not to admit that Fales showed a ton of promise. I think he moved in the pocket better than Cutler does and the kid has a pretty good arm as well. I think a lot of you are trying to compare him to Tannehill after 60+ starts and Cutler after a billion starts...but that's not really fair.
huh Key..imo, he doesn't have the arm strength to threaten all blades of grass, he's a little guy, and when your small in stature you better be really good at something..he's not a great scrambler or runner.. 3rd stringer imo..
Did you watch the game? I thought he had several excellent scrambles while ducking/twisting out of sacks. I thought his overall pocket presence was unreal for a first time starter.
Pretty much what I saw also. Made some nice throws and his pocket awareness seemed decent enough for his first NFL action. Am I convinced he has a solid future in this league ?? Too early to tell obviously but I saw no reason to call him a guaranteed bust either in all fairness.
Sure, I wouldn't label him a future QB1 by any means. But as far as NFL debuts go, he showed me a heck of a lot more than I was expecting.
I think everyone is simply reacting to the asinine assertion that we should get rid of Tannehill and roll into next season with Fales as our starter.
I watched the game.. Im glad you thought he was that good for his first start..its not just about the performance in the game, its about projecting what you see for the future, looking for weaknesses that can inevitably be exploited by NFL defenses..we have differing opinions as to what that ceiling is, I would like more upside in my backup so I can do more things with the scheme..I think his arm limits the route trees for the receivers and allows the secondary players to cheat on real estate.
I'm glad some of you saw what I saw. He looked comfortable in the pocket and the offense were protecting him like I've not seen for a very long time, whereas TH looks scared to death and alone with no protection, and Cutler, well there's no need to keep on about him he's done here. First start and you laugh him off? Really? Have a look at yourselves and our record of late. Two years of TH who is supposed to be our franchise QB. I think not. He's wooden. We need to be looking elsewhere. Fales looked surprisingly confident for a first start. Give him a full pre-season and Gase the confidence in him and maybe......
As crazy as the OP was presented, I was actually happy to see Fales play. I was calling for him since the beginning of the season. Mainly because I saw no real benefit in signing Cutler and since the teams' shot at success this season, at that point, was pretty much gone, I figure you might as well hope for a miracle or see if he, at least, can be a solid back up. I was actually impressed. For a player who, in practice, hasn't got any first or even second team reps all season and no live action in a long time, it was impressive. He did show good pocket presence, he did show an ability to find the open man, he made some good throws, got us into the end-zone and he took us from behind and actually got the team in a position to win. Yes, he threw the bad pick at the end that ended our chances. The timing was of course bad, but to even get us to that point, for the reasons I mentioned, was impressive. The secondary was s--t that day. Guys were getting college open in that game. ..oh well.
He definitely played like a kid who’s never played in an NFL game before but I did not get the sense that his arm was holding him back at all. He was jumpy and nervous but he hit some really nice outs and mid range passes. I think his decision making is what was holding him back. He wasn’t quick with a lot of his reads so it appeared as if the ball was getting there late a lot. totally understandable for a guy playing his first game. The physical tools seemed to be there though.
I'm glad he played because now the Dolphins know what he is and isn't. He's not very good and will most likely not be in the NFL next season.
I seen him throw the first pass and knew he would be a HS coach in the future, the guys elbow drops too low his release is to long. only thing consistent he will have is sailing overthrows. Hes Garbage move on.
The part that people laughed at was not Fales but your ridiculous take....you know, that a guy who probably won't play another down in the NFL is better than the 3 you mentioned. And your take on RT looking scared to death? Seriously, have you watched the games when he stays in the pocket and delivers a pass and gets killed? Then get up and get back in the huddle and do it again?...Yep, looks scared to Death. Fact is that the QB's room will no longer have Moore or Cutler or Fales and probably Doughty when the season rolls along. Thats what people are laughing about. And speaking of Doughty, can't say it says much about their thoughts on him when he is an after thought with the horrible QB play this year...Disappointing but it looks like the writing is on the wall
