Make sure you use words that you know the definition of. And I responded because you people are littering the forum with this dumb crap, not because i needed so badly to respond about a guy i never met or care if he is banned or not. Personally his commentary is annoying yet avoidable.

What isnt avoidable is every thread being centered around a poster, not the dolphins or football.

It's pretty crazy banning anyone with such low traffic coming through here. When I started on ThePhins it was a lot more active. Unless someone does something egregious, you're going to make your site go belly up by banning loyalists to this site. Just some food for thought. Cheers.

 

I signed up I think in 2014 and I remember there was a lot more traffic back then as well.

 

I imagine he was banned for his troll style and stawman arguments that he would only defend with "because i said so" arguments. When the team is bad those increased and just became tiresome to moderate probably. It's one thing to point out why this team sucks and offer solution that can be discussed by members. He didn't do this though. He would say x sucks fix it, but offer no solution.

 

This site wasn't started to be the biggest, most trafficked Dolphins sure on the internet. It was started to get away from that sort of site (I won't name it), and to focus on having more informed,accurate discussions. Over the years, as people found out about this site, they liked it, and traffic picked up. Now it's a battle to not turn into that other site.

I wish people knew the history.

 

Overall a sensible convo. Really? For whom and where? Did I miss something? Granted, I do understand some posters getting upset about being accused of having multiple accounts. Not fair to them. But I think most here can understand some of the reasoning behind it, including yourself. Anybody who thinks Dirty was banned for his views or takes on this team are being silly or naive or disingenuous. A lot more to it, and I am sure he was given ample warning about his conduct. IMO, I have read through this thread numerous times, the last word that comes to my mind is sensible.

 

Well yea that is true. However likely for about 32 of 32 message boards in the NFL.

The Qb is always the most polarizing figure, somewhere Pats boards are cluttered with fans pissed they didn’t trade Brady, it’s tine to move on from Brees, trade ARod for multiple picks and build the roster etc etc.

Just worse here when you have a QB that has given each side something to feast on.

 

Just to clarify on a couple things that would help this thread and the site overall
1) I didn’t think DirtyLandry was a good poster, I’m not clamoring for him back.

2) if we can stop the whole, “hi dirty” thing that’s happening around here, that would be great, that’s why this thread is in existence and I feel necessary. I’m happy this thread was made. It’s not about Dirty, it’s about the belittling, fake witch hunting thats happening because of shared views on Tannehill.

 

That's fair. I just think people around here want some measured discussion, not temper tantrum reactionary posting. Not accusing you of it (don't really know your posting history). Just some posts with some thoughts behind it. We get a lot of posts from the heart, which is fine, it's just not having the brain as part of the equation that gets people upset.

I’m a bit saddened about the banning as well. While I don’t post 24/7 like dirty did I think he is a fan of the site and is helping the site. He’s generating content good or bad it’s dolphins content. That’s is what brings users to the forum otherwise it’s pretty dead in the public forums. Especially when the team sucks and offseason.

I agree personal attacks shouldn’t be allowed and while a lot disagree with my stances on the team I don’t call people out and take it personal I fell everyone’s entitled to their opinions.

That said I’d like to pose a change to the forum that may help.

How about a dedicated forum topics.

Why don’t we make a Tannehill Top (“he’s elite”) and Tannehill Mid (“he’s average”) threads and let the pieces fall where they may? Then we can all get what we want.

I see all these DOLPHINS FANS getting banned over TANNEHILL and I feel there is a great chance Tannehill won’t even be our QB in a year or two but those banned members will still be fans. Now do some deserve the ban? Sure, I’m sure some people were over the top. However, to get banned for an unpopular opinion of a player is a bit radical.

So instead of banning, why not do just two seperate threads to host each party of opinion?

 

This forum supports my observation. Anyone who has anything negative to say about the Dolphins is either called a fan of another team or told to go root for another team, or banned apparently.

Hollow posts that bordered on spam sometimes, as well as goading certain posters into revolving 5-year old "your mama" back-and-forths that cluttered the mains as well as well-intentioned and thoughtful threads made by other posters.

That's why. It has nothing to do his anti-Tannehill stance. There's plenty of people that have posted here, and continue to post here, with that stance. You're still posting, aren't you? Often, it's not what you post, but how you post it.

Maybe somebody can help me clarify this a little bit more, I generally kind of stopped coming here around that time, but caught a couple ugly exchanges in certain threads when I'd pass by. I was not surprised to see the hammer come down though.

The reason I feel for some of the bitterness is due to some of the asinine opinions posted as of late. Here’s the one that has me scratching my head more than others. Why all of the rancor this year against Tannehill? Unless you’ve been under a rock, Tannehill hasn’t played a single game this season due to his knee injury and yet, there is this overall tone that HE is to blame for this years dismall season. It makes no sense at all and yet when you tried to articulate that concept to the aforementioned banned poster, his response was a typical, “show me he’s a top 10 qb”

And that silly argument would go on day in and day out with new threads created for the sake of creating threads.

I’ll follow up later when I’m home on my laptop but if you want an idea why the tone has devolved to the state it has, there you go

Like I said before, it was the FinsDan that threw me off....but again we don't know what goes on behind the scenes he may have told one of the mod's he slept with his sister for all I know.

 

He has already jumped to another board and picked up right where he left off here......and surprisingly, getting the same push back for the same reasons. Looks like he just likes the drama. As for FinsDan, was not a fan of his takes on the team but was certainly entitled. I have to believe, like you said, he did something to warrant it.

Honestly, in my eyes the season's been over for a while and I haven't felt compelled to participate in the endless circular arguments. A few weeks ago friends were like "Dude you guys just hammered the Patriots" to which I responded - just wait, I know how this ends.

I'm very tired of the sameness of mediocrity and largely not impressed by Adam Gase. It has eroded my desire to talk about this team.

 

I'm amazed that given the dictatorial atmosphere here that everyone complaining about the banning hasn't been banned.
