He gave them alot of good years and even if he is past his prime he is better than whoever they had backing him up. I would be bummed too. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
Do you even Dolphins fan bro? You dont remember Joey Porter having that monster season? I mean, the only real excuses is if you were in a coma for his years here. Which would make you speaking on Porters time here, well, a waste of time.
Must not have seen the film of him yacking in the end zone. Welcome to Miami. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, I'm with you on this one, didn't remember Peezy getting 17.5 sacks?, which I believe was a half sack behind the league leader. My question though, how could anyone not remember Peezy's walk off sack vs SF that clinched our first winning season in 3 years? 1 min left on the clock, 14-9 us, SF has the ball on the Miami 20, 4th down, if they complete a pass into the EZ they win, and our playoff hopes dashed on the rocks. Peezy rips through and gets the sack, and for lack of a microphone he drops his helmet and walks off, BOOM!!! We've clinched a winning season for the first time in 3 years, coming off the 1-15 season, and kept playoff hope alive and Peezy is the hero of the season, one of, if not the most memorable Dolphin play in the last decade. Also, JP had 5.5, 17.5 and 9 sacks in his 3 seasons here(32 in 3 years), with 6 FFs, not sure how that can be viewed as overall disappointment.
and joey porter did disappoint ? he had like 17 sacks for us in one season, pro bowl and 1.team all pro
I don't think it's so much bummed about losing him... more because we have absolutely zero behind him. Suddenly ILB becomes a day 2 draft need. Our window with Ben will only be open a couple more years, no time for developing young talent on the defense when there's a seasoned slightly above average vet that could be had for reasonable $. In the end though, "Law-dog" did not take the hometown discount, and I can't blame him.
If all you want out of timmons is one good season then no it would not dissapoint. However I think we should have gone after a younger player with more upside for the future instead of a stopgap for one season. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
Like who exactly and for what kind of $$$$? We signed a veteran who will give us two good seasons at a fair price. I will take this signing all day.....especially if we add young LBs in the draft
Zack Brown, 26 years old, 149 tackles last year in a pro bowl season and he wont be as expensive as donta Hightower would be for example. He is also one of the best coverage linebackers in the league which we desperately need, much better in coverage than timmons. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
Do you think there is a reason that his name is not on a visit lists or Buff didnt re-sign him ? or anyone else for that matter? Curious, don't you think. And what exactly do you think he would get paid?
He has been mentioned as a player of interest for the dolphins. Why do you think Pittsburgh didn't resign timmons? Because he priced himself out of their plans considering he is past his prime. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
Have heard his name mentioned in Oakland once. My question is why such a lack of interest for a young LB in a league where all teams need them....red flag for me
The reports were that they did try to re-sign him. Pitt doesn't have much cap space so it was probably pretty easy for us win that one.
Personally, when I looked at Brown I came away saying "no thank you". I wanted to like him b/c I feel we need to add speed on D, but what I saw was a very undisciplined player who made more mistakes than big plays. I found him a poor fit for us and given his reported asking price back then, I was very happy when we showed little interest.
None of what I said has been proven wrong, I said he was a good player and would give us a good season, but he was and is a stop gap and we should have gotten someone younger like zach brown as well, there is no reason why we could not have signed both timmons and brown, we needed a guy like brown badly when timmons went awol and mcmillan got injured. Brown is also playing great in washington and is faster and better than timmons in coverage.
You said Timmons would be a disappointment. You're wrong. This season both Zach and Timmons have 6 tackles per game and Timmons has broken up 2 passes and Zach has broken up exactly Z-E-R-O passes. You're wrong.
Zach is fa Zach is faster and is better in coverage. Just because timmoms has two PDs more than zach doesnt make him better in coverage. Zach has wide reciever speed and can run with any tightend, not true of timmons. Oh and zach didnt miss the first two games of the season because of mental issues. Again, I said timmoms would probably give us a good season but he is a stop gap measure and is reaching the end of his prime. That is still true, I am not wrong wether you like it or not it's your problem dan. Chill out.
You said Timmons would be "another disappointment in a long line of Miami free agent disappointments".
A dissapointment in that he would give us one good season at best. If what you want is one good season then that is not a dissapointment to you, to me it is. It's a stop gap measure which is what I said.
One good season christ he's our best LB and one of the best on the whole defense this year. And how do you know he won't be good next year....Christ he has plenty of room to go down and still be really good...and if he slows down a little next year and he just turns out to be really good. Looking like a great signing at this point
the guy is playing at an all pro level...sure your ok with spending that money secondary instead...lol.. when we signed him I watched his reps the last year in Pitt, he was awesome and couldn't understand why you were getting rid of him...ya'll fu##ed up..
I knew this was a good signing. I saw enough of him in Pitt to see he could still play. he makes the other LB's better. Alonzo is looking really good since Timmons has been back on the field.
defensive MVP thus far.. defensive nfl player of the month.. we win this game against the jets and the dolphins are gonna be in the national spotlight.
He has played very well, but you guys are overreacting. He has had three good games, but he doesnt have any sacks, no ints, no forced fumbles or fumble recovery, he got beaten for a TD against tennesse and everybody seems to be forgetting he went awol because of mental health issues and missed the first two games of the season.
I aint overreacting on anything brother..that dude is a beast..he makes plays before they get started or right after they get started if you know what I'm saying...best linebacker we've had since Zach.
Dan, you are a real piece of work, you **** on pff all the time but have no problem pulling out ratings from them when it fits your narrative. The facts are that PFF has given Zach Brown an overall rating of 70.3 on the season which grades out as average on their scale. He has 117 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 2 PD so far this season. Timmons on the other hand has an overall PFF rating of 46.2 on the season which grades out as poor on their scale. He has only 67 tackles, 0 sacks and 3 PD so far this season. Clearly Zach is having a MUCH better season than Timmons, which is why we should have signed him instead of or in addition to Timmons which is exactly what I said back during the free agency period. I know you hate it when I am right, again. Deal with it. You keep excusing this organization's ****ty decisions instead of admitting their incompetence and calling for changes. You must like losing or are just a paid troll for the dolphins PR department.
"He (Zach Brown) is also one of the best coverage linebackers in the league which we desperately need, much better in coverage than timmons." PFF has graded Zach Brown this season at a 34 in coverage. Timmons grades out at a 70 in coverage
