This game to me is a loss, but if Miami wants to compete next year and really in the future, they have to figure out how to cover the TE. Kiko can't do it. Do we play with an extra DB? Do we use Mac? The other frustrating thing is no pass rush, then it doesn't matter. I have heartburn thinking about the short routes with their WRs and the deep ball with Cooks.
It’s very difficult to stop Gronkowski. The Carolina Panthers have one of the best linebacking cores in the league, and arguably have one of the best front sevens, and yet he still managed 4 receptions and 80 yards. In his other game against them he managed 5 receptions, 59 receiving yards, and 1 TD. Not exactly the Gronk’s biggest stat lines, but he still produced against a tough defense. Even Denver’s elite defense (this year aside) has struggled to contain him. Essentially most teams that face the Patriots struggle to contain him. I’d say our best chance of stopping him this year is if Brady is out of the game or being unde serious pressure, but I just don’t see our defense stopping all their options. If we manage to stop Gronk, they’ve got their backs (Butkhead, Lewis and White) and their receivers (Cooks, Hogan, Amendola etc) to throw to. They can even factor in a more run heavy approach with Lewis and Gillislee. So I’m like you, I see this game as a loss. Next year I’d say our best chance is if we upgrade our LB core and get a more consistent pass rush, which is realistic if our front office does their job in the off season. We also need more consistency out of our secondary and upgrade certain positions. For me, defense and O-Line need to be our focus in the off season if we stand a chance of competing with the Patriots, let alone surpassing them and winning the division.
We won't. This game will be played at Gronk's HOF celebration. Wish I had him in fantasy. I'm not even going to watch this massacre. I might not even record it.
That's why they brought in Anthony... I kid...I kid... We don't. The Dolphins are +17 for this game. If I bet on my favorite teams, which I don't, I still wouldn't take them and the points. This game has the makings of a franchise record for points allowed in a single game. The Pats just may put up 80 on us.
they key to beating the pats is pass rush and super physical wr play, you have to check and hammer wr and TE all day and we are just not physical enough, I see gronk and bennet going off as well.
every time I think the pats are just gonna walk over someone with a 12+ pt line the dog always keeps it close and it pisses me off lol but I don't even know how its only -17 IMO
with the inability to dial up pressure all year, Brady will have a field day. we drafted Charles Harris just for this game
never liked that pick from day 1 with a long list of other 1st round picks ive hated in 20 years lol here's a break down of the first drive. We blitz alanso, brady tags gronk for 15, they hurry up hand it off for 7 to the right side OOB, hit amendola on a drag route for 9, hurry up hit cooks for a deep shot over the middle td. all in 1:45 7-0 pats. and at this point I go hard in the paint on my 30 pack.
10 years??? Did you just start watching the Dolphins 10 years ago, they haven't stopped a TE in almost 30 years
Ideally? Lots of pressure upfront to prevent Brady from getting comfortable and finding his TEs and using a larger Safety/DB to cover him for long enough. This Dolphins team can't do it though it.
Hope that they get injured in pregame warmups. Otherwise, I guess pray. They could go for 200 yards Sunday. Just the TEs.
It's a shame where you missed the last game when they dialed up pressure for almost two full quarters...or maybe we're pretending that didn't happen as well to fit some type of narrative.
