Interesting mock. I tend to think we'd look either at corner or an outside pass rushing threat, but Maualuga would be fine with me.
Anyone who thinks Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech will drop to #17 overall is smoking some serious weed. This guys is probably the best WR in many years. I would take Rey Maualuga, even with the first overall pick. I don't think we will be picking in te top five though.
Ha! If Michael Johnson really runs a 4.65 and is 6 foot 7......... Miami is going to be falling all over itself to get him.
Horrible mock overall in my opinion, here are my issues; 2. Miami-Rey Maualuga-Miami doesnt have a huge need for an ILB unless Crowder struggles this season. Rey can't play OLB because of his limited athleticism and I think this is a bad pick for them. I think Davis at CB is a much smarter pick. 3. Atlanta-Vontae Davis-Why? This guy either doesn't pay attention to the Falcons or only looked at the Depth Chart. Atlanta has former 2nd Round pick Chris Houston at one corner and small school kid Brent Grimes at the other. Grimes has only done one thing all preseason...make plays. Davis is a bad pick here. 4. Lions-Chris Wells-They just took Kevin Smith and have Brian Calhoun on the roster why are they taking Wells?? 10. Cincinnati-Brian Cushing-Not the top OLB in his class and a border line 1st Rounder 12. Chicago-Darius Heyward Bey-Not a 1st Round prospect at this point 14. Houston-Knowshon Moreno-No way he lasts this late, but the position is probably correct 15. Washington-Taylor Mays-Needs a lot of work and this projection is based on hype not production. 17. Tampa Bay-Michael Crabtree-Seriously? 19. Minnesota-Tim Tebow-Does not need a QB 21. Buffalo-Travis Beckum-Eh... 23. Arizona-Jamon Meredith-Robinson before Meredith 24. Green Bay-George Selvie-No way he drops this far 27. Jacksonville-Myron Rolle-Where is this guy going to play? And talk about picking based on hype...
Rolle plays the hybrid ROV role at FSU which is a blend between S and LB. Are they going to move him to S or have him bulk up and play LB? His cover skills need work so putting him at SS may not be the best idea, and with Nelson entrenched at FS, I dont see where they play him at this point.
I'm happy to help. I always love talking about the draft with people and I'm happy to lend my knowledge to anyone.
Darry Beckwith in the first round? ROFL...not unless Wannstedt is picking. Maybe they mean Ricky Jean-Francois...who I didn't see listed but is LSUs best returning player. Oh well, it won't be Beckwith, not in the first round.
Agree with both assertions. And if any team wants Maualuga or Crabtree, they better be picking top 5.
Crabtree at 17 is just laughable and makes you question this guys credentials, I mean really? DB, I agreed with much of what you said but 19. Minnesota-Tim Tebow-Does not need a QB They dont? Jackson is still iffy at this point, I think its valid to pencil them in a QB if its value. Can you imagine a Tebow/AP backfield? A rushing and redzone nightmare if youve ever seen one. Jackson could very well morph into a solid enough guy, but at this point Im not convinced.
Well, things can always happen but I highly doubt that. It'd take a bust for marijuana and multiple assault counts, broken leg, and a Sprewell to drop him to 17. Worst mock in the history of mocks.
