That Jones interception was a CLUTCH reaction grabbing the loose ball. However, that ball was loose because Tankersley got his hand in to create the PBU. The dude might be one of the best pick ups this year. Solid all game. Smart guy, knows what's going on. Could be special.
The funny thing I have a friend "in the know" and he said that the scouting report was that Tank, "Was an elite athlete with big playmaking ability, but also dumb as dog ****, very slow to learn the playbook and prone to mental errors." So I certainly didn't expect him to come out the way he has...it's been a pleasure to be wrong on that one.
A few times now I've heard commentators mention how he is reading/trying to bait the QB, showing veteran smarts. So good to hear that.
Yeah, I heard that too and was puzzled...definitely not the guy that the pro scouting reports predicted.
Tank was one of my favorite picks from this years draft, glad to see him doing great. He is a complete corner, I would say he is more talented than Xavian Howard as he is faster and more athletic than howard. Howard has never really impressed me that much with all the hype he has been getting. He can be a solid #2 but I dont think he will ever be a shutdown corner, tank on the other hand definitely has shutdown corner potential.
I'm honestly curious, I know you are a big Landry fan. What is the price tag you think we should offer Landry? And if he said no to that would you be ok walking away?
I think everyone is freaking the same way they thought Stills wanted money. Scary thing is, Landry is the one that has been the most consistent. I can't see beyond 2018. I think they franchise him. I don't think they would just let him hit FA. We aren't talking about Parker here, who has shown flashes. Talking about a guy that has been productive since day 1
Can we take the Landry contract talk to a Landry thread, please? It's off topic in this thread. Tankersly is the topic here. Thanks.
So encouraging that he's doing well this early. I thought he would need a year of seasoning. He still may, but throwing guys into the fire sometimes speeds up the process. Tank seems to be taking to it. I'd be interested in to know what happened on the long touchdown on Howard, though. Was there a miscommunication between him and a safety? Did he get outright beat? Why am I asking these questions on a message board when the reporters should be asking these questions to coach Gase?
From what I was told, the Dolphins thought Tank was a 1st to 2nd round talent, but a lot of teams didn't have him on their draft boards at all because of his testing. He was not a good student in school, barely stayed eligible and it was perceived that he'd struggle to learn NFL playbooks and schemes. For that reason alone, he was projected anywhere between the 1st and 6th rounds- it was impossible to tell how he'd translate at the next level. Nobody doubted his talent though, he definitely had 1st round elite skills and wanted to learn/play hard. I said when we drafted him that it was probably a bust pick (based on what the scout told me above)- so I'm very, very happy to be wrong in this case. The same person also hated the Harris pick and I halfway agree there- massive raw talent but known as a one-trick pony. As soon as he reached out to Taylor and others though asking for mentoring/advice, I changed my opinion immediately....he's going to be a stud. For the record, the scouts I talked to were nuts over McMillian though- he's the least physically talented of the three but he has that Bryan Cox mentality for being everywhere on the field and blowing up plays. So if Harris, Tank and McMillian all develop, this will end up being one of our best drafts in recent memory.
