Then you change play calling right? You don't keep calling the slow developing plays. I still see the same plays week after week.
A guy running a 4 anything 40 can get down field 20 yards in 2 seconds. Of course when they are running curls that slows things down. Run some slants!!1
Look at the arm angle for Cutler in that picture, that can't be good. Bring ball from down below to throw like that.

WTF? No, I'm pretty damn sure genetics are the reason that Grant is 5-6. But feel free to call that incorrect narrative as well. What I expect is that a professional NFL QB throwing to a 6-4" receiver to throw it where a 6-4 receiver can catch it. That would NOT be 3 or 4' over his head. Same with throwing to a 5-6 receiver. Ball placement is an issue with Cutler and has been, along with his timing being off. Way to ignore that Grant was open for 15 yards before the late and off-target throw.
Yes, his mechanics are shoddy and have been. This is nothing new going back to his Vandy days. His starring down receivers and being late on throws is nothing new either. You can read Reshad Jones comments on him from several years ago when we beat the Bears. http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/eye...ong-arm-personalities-nfl-quarterback-coaches
Watch the play. The LOS was the 23. Grant had already ran full speed and high pointed the ball by the time he got to the 6 yard line. It was over thrown and Grant had to leap and turn to get his fingertips on it to slow it enough to try and bring it down. Because it was late, the 2 defenders were closing and Adoree Jackson had time to get his hands on Grants arm and the ball. Cutler was lucky it wasn't another INT.
Not a "bad throw" from the perspective that Cutler had good pass blocking and actually stepped into it, nor would it have been a bad throw if thrown to Parker. And Landry or Stills either one probably goes up and pulls that down. But the throw was still late and high. No one is expecting something as silly as always perfect passes, but he has to do better than that there. He missed him.
Yeaaaaah that's it - rushers are coming thru untouched on every pass play in under 2 seconds. Did you ever think for one second (or two) that aside from if/when an O-Line is struggling, the defense calls plays to exploit the shortcomings of the QB as well? Or is that just stupid average fan theory? Cutler flat out will not step into throws and take a hit. His arm lacks the zip he was accustomed to in his younger years. His footwork is completely undisciplined. He has no chemistry with the offensive players. Most importantly he doesn't care. All of these things are happening even when protection is in place.
Pathetic footwork. Anticipation, plant, TD! But nope - not J.Cutty. He's more preoccupied with the thought of getting hit by the defender who had contain on Ajayi.
The pocket was relatively clean on that throw though, but in general yes I agree. Moore's limitations come with more exotic coverages and his inability to consistently diagnose them.
I appreciate the time you put into this, and also think Cutler has sucked thus far. But in the real world? In any given game? You could find still shots that show open players on nearly every single passing down in every NFL game.
I don't disagree with his limitations...but wtf...I'm willing to do what it takes to see how far a team can go thats galvanized and very close. I think with the home crowd and what the players maybe thinking, the switch to Moore If jay plays bad against Atlanta could be a cool storm of defensive fury and adequate offense.. You know the home crowd would be hyped.. If he plays well I'll let him keep the job..but I think it's at the boiling point no?
Of course you can. That's why I broke the frames down and showed the different angles. As I said, Cutler was late on the throw, then over threw it. Beautiful pass - just late and too high for his intended target. Would have been perfect for Parker. What's worse, it's not like he was flushed out of the pocket and throwing on the run there either. He had good protection. No reason not to make that connection before the DBs could react. Also, as D25 and a couple others pointed out, Cutler's throwing motion is a wind-up. He takes the ball from his hip and winds up the pass. Contrast that to better QBs who keep the ball where they are coached to do so - high and ready. It shouldn't be that low unless he's tucking it to run. Even Gase mentioned Jay had some things to clean up on his own.
The issue is that Cutler did not throw it catchable to Grant. However, if Wallace turned 5'6" during his route, then he would have an amazing excuse for his terrible catch radius. Noted.
I doubt either of you played sports as a kid let alone at even a semi high level. So you would struggle to understand that throwing that route to a 5'6 dude would require a PERFECT throw and not just a good throw (which is what it was)
If it was a good throw, it would have been completed or a drop. Someone who played sports as a kid would understand that. It is pretty simple. Pretend it is Chad Henne and Brandon Marshall. Taco..... Eaten.....
Now, that's helpful. Ah, the hubris. lol... And yet, we see NFL QBs do this routinely. Darren Sproles is 5-6. Wes Welker was 5-9. TY Hilton is 5-8. Steve Smith is 5-9. Like I said, even if the WR is 6-4, if the ball is too high, it's too high.
You're not going to find me arguing against Moore getting in the game. This Cutler experiment is an utter joke.
I'm struggling? That's rich. You're the one always changing the topic when you got nothing. It's ok. You're at the bar, aren't you?
How bad is Cutler when you and I are agreeing? lol... By all means, trot Moore out there. At least he has heart, can get a play off on time, and throw the ball with a degree of accuracy.
You leave me no choice, you start talking nonsense so I have to counter with nonsense. And just getting home from the bar. Me and CIF went undefeated in horseshoes, and hooked up with two girls who had kankles, and drank Michelob lite.
Agree 100% Funny this has been going on for so long and yet people still don't get it (how much do you all need to see). Fans, I'd expect for we all occasionally live in a fantasy world and usually focus on the big names of elite position and don't get me wrong I'm not saying Cutler doesn't deserve some responsibility but when you see the same problem being repeated year after year, QB after QB, staff after staff and now once again with Gase still picking up backups as our starters, is truly sad. Ya I'm not Joe football player but I've been watching these Dolphins for 50 years. There at the Joe Auer return and IMO you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand the importance of what you just said " It All Starts Up Front ".... Damn, I am so looking forward to the day our organization gets that... Christ maybe the right OL and Cutler, Moore, Tannehill actually show levels of competency on a consistent basis......even if not would like to atleast see the opportunity for once.... Me I'd put the blame on the whole offense outside of Ajayi with the OL as the main point and primary focus, then work down to figuring out what level of responsibility to lay on the HC and coaching staff, for this team is truly in a melt down. And Gase seems in the fog and just over his head ( not a good sign ) Gotten used to the striving for mediocre and have had my enthusiasm dragged down unwillingly and at this point unable to see or make more excuses for the continuous ineptitude of the professional we've had for the last decade. but Im afraid this team would need 2 promotions to be mediocre and the little hope I had, Gase sadly I am beginning to hold the coaching staff responsible for this continuous dilemma.... And yes credit for the improved DL. But ignoring the OL at this point theres just NO DAMN EXCUSE !!!!!!
I have never in my life advocated putting Matt Moore into a game until now. I can't wait for the Cutler era to be over.
I like Moore The Dolphins have tried to draft and get OL. sad thing is they fail year after year regardless of GM
