Way early, but the issue is whether you trade down. If Tanny was out there playing poorly? Easy decision to draft a new QB. But what if you trade down and fill other team holes with the extra picks? Tanny coming back to lead a more talented team sounds pretty good to me. Not sure if I'll want Gase around after this season though, unless he gets this team playing hard and being competitive -even in losses.
so what would you draft at 1? Tannehill is worse than cutler, and cutler isn't the answer. we loaded up on defense last year, don't need a WR or RB so you're taking a TE #1? OL?
Right now Tannehill > Cutler. Still.. Tannehill may not prove to be the answer either (he's only had shorter stretches of great play after 5 years) so I agree we should draft a QB high to groom for the future while you roll with Tannehill.
I've seen Cutler make throws Tannehill still can't make, so, to me Cutler > Tannehill, and both aren't good enough. Maybe if you can merge them together and get one, it'd be good.
If you have a chance at a top QB prospect you pull the trigger, especially when you have a soon-to-be 30 year old QB coming off a major knee injury. The most sound thing to do is to draft the QB and have him and Tannehill battle it out for the starting job in 2018. If Tannehill wins the job you groom the rookie and then decide what to do in the coming season.
... Yours are to OPEN WR's. mine are parker being covered but cutler trust parker's skillset to be able to catch it anyway. Tannehill won't throw deep to a covered WR.
How is your first video any different than my first video against the Pats? Parker is basically covered in both. And in your second video you are praising the pass, but if anything it is a severely underthrown ball that Parker has to adjust to, not this awesome throw you are making it out to be. Look, I am not saying this this can't change over the course of the season, but as of right now, the ONLY thing Cutler has over Tannehill is his slightly better pocket presence. Everything else is either a wash or Tannehill has the edge.
it's thrown over the CB. if cutler puts more under it the CB has time to catch up and make the play. Cutler trusts his WR's to make the play. Tannehill doesn't and is more likely to take the sack or a checkdown instead. like i said though cutler has drawbacks too. if you could merge cutler and tannehill that'd be ideal.
Might not need a draft QB, could be worth looking at a trade for a young back up QB now, to start. Test him out, see what there might be...?
Eh, I wouldn't say Tannehill doesn't trust his receivers to make a play, but I will say he leans a little more toward the conservative side naturally. Things is, not even Cutler has been making the plays you point out on a consistent basis though. You can argue he hasn't been given time by the OL, ok. Tannehill has never had a good OL either (it's almost the same OL as last season). I'll believe it's an advantage for Cutler when he starts making those plays on a consistent basis... and I mean the WR catching the ball, not throwing an interception. Right now, we've seen just a couple of those plays, few and far between. Until those types of plays are made consistently, and us seeing a big difference in offense output BECAUSE of these so called "throws that Cutler can make that Tannehill can't" that you're talking about, I'm taking Tannehill over Cutler... even on long balls.
I'm reserving judgment on Cutler until a few mire games. But, AT THIS VERY POINT, I don't see how anyone can say that Cutler is better than Tannehill.
His pocket presence in game one was better than we've ever seen from Tannehill or Moore...that's what sold me on him. Somehow Cutler stunk today but he still looked pretty good doing it- that's just a veteran poise thing that Tannehill doesn't have. Cutler also has a rocket of an arm that beats almost anyone in the NFL right now, plus his post-snap vision is excellent. So in three ways, Cutler is clearly better than RT. However, Tannehill literally does everything else better. He's more accurate. He's a far better runner. He delivers a better deep ball. He's a better communicator. He works better with Gase. He works better with his receivers. Most important, Tannehill has grown into a better leader than Cutler. He just doesn't have that short to mid-range mega cannon and he's not as good scanning the field. One final thought though- Tannehill closed the gap on Cutler in all the deficiencies in 2016...it's almost criminal that he didn't get this season to show us what he's really made of. But to answer the question of who's better overall, it's pretty tough because it's an apples to oranges comparison. I think I would choose Tannehill BUT there will be horrible games that Cutler wins where Tannehill crumbles. That's because Cutler can shrug off almost anything....which I guess in itself is a skill that should be listed. But then again, Moore is the master of "let it rip and deal with the consequences later"...we don't need Cutler for that.
If Miami can get a qb, they have to do this. Even look at Brees. There is no way I am gambling on RT's knee and his sub 500 record as a starter. You spread the risk, and hope you have a qb controversy. Nothing else matters but qb. Hou and LA have been injected life. LA has scored like 140 points, Hou scored 57 this week and we scored.....
Well be picking somewhere between 12-16 like usual. I don't know what the talking heads are going to be saying at the end of the year, but based on so far this season I'd be all in on Luke Falk from Wazzu. That boys a FOOTBALL PLAYER! But if he keeps on keepin on he'll be in that top five talk and one of the first three QBs drafted.
we average 8 points a game. We should have been shut out the last two games. That is a trend toward a top 2 pick.
