I don't live on the east coast and I totally got caught up in BS that doesn't matter, what I want to know is how did everyone in Florida and on the east do with the hurricanes and how is everyone's families? Hope all is well and nothing major happened to anyone. GO PHINS!!!!
From what I've heard on here, everyone came out with little to no damage- mostly downed trees and a few shingles missing. I'm up in the Carolinas and we had tree damage here, so I can only imagine the West Coast of Florida. Thankfully, we dodged a massive bullet. I've been a hurricane nerd ever since living through Andrew and seeing it's wrath in Miami- Irma was one bad *****. She continually shed her eye wall to gain strength, a lot more than any other storm on record, and that was her ultimate downfall. As soon as she got past Cuba the eye wall started recycling, and hitting Florida basically made her fall apart. It was 400 miles across while hitting the Keys and about 150 miles across by the time it was at Tampa. Once it got to me, it was four or five different storm systems spreading out across the US. Anyway, we were super super lucky that Irma was so intent on being a superpower- she did herself in EXACTLY at the perfect time. If that eye wall didn't rebuild it would have destroyed the entire West Coast of Florida and hit Miami pretty darn hard too.
My area has a ton of trees and it roadblocked everywhere, looked like driving through a jungle. Got my roof re-tiled the same week, fixed up my yard, and that was that. Blessed to have a roof over my head.
Nothing happened around me except for a couple of downed trees. I didn't even lose power or anything.
My thoughts were with all of you that had to deal with that. I'm up in Tennessee where the living's easy. I hope everyone is ok.
My family evacuated to Chicago for a week. Luckily, we didn't have any damage to our home or property when we got back. Had some spoiled food in the fridge.
I live in Naples near the beach. House is ok lost power for 10 days or so. 9 foot high piles of cut up trees everywhere in my neighborhood. Lost a bunch of trees and a small screen tear on pool deck. Otherwise good to go. Just got back after evacuating and then a biz trip so was happy to get home. Just reached out to our favorite restaurant in Isles of Capri which is just before the bridge to Marco Island which was basically ground zero and they are open for business. Knock on some wood, we were VERY fortunate/lucky/blessed on this one.
