QB Jay Cutler: “That game was a wake-up call for us. We can’t just roll out there and expect it to happen. We have to prepare."

The single most damaging indictment against the coaching staff. I, and a few others, have been saying they didn't prepare for this game. Now the starting QB confirms it.

Does this change any of your views on Gase? IMO, it should. (Which means, it probably won't and since I suggest it, it will give him more support!) :tongue2:

Jay looked bad, maybe he shouldn't be talking about anything but his own game at this point... I'm willing to entertain the idea that other parts of the team deserve a lot of blame as well. Gase isn't above reproach for me. His play calling is lack luster so far this year.

HOWEVER, Gase wanted Ryan as his QB and was stuck in a bad situation, which lead to Jay being the starter. 2nd year coach losing starting QB preseason, that's a formula for bad news.

This is an opportunity to see the offense with a different QB running it, and there are some issues that were being put on Tannehill that are still there. That's not to say that Tannehill wasn't at fault for some of his short comings, but any ideas that Tannehill was holding this team back has been dashed a bit.

This has been an issue with the Dolphins team for as long as I can remember. They get a win and suddenly think other teams are just going to roll over for them.

    That game was pitiful

This is just something taken out of context really. Does anyone seriously think this team just sat back, after getting lucky last week and went... ahhhh... we're good. No need to work this week!

Tunsil stated as well the team had a bad week of practice. Sometimes team's just have bad weeks and games. I think we saw a lot of that here in week 3. Week 3 becomes desperation time for a lot of teams who have poor starts. Jets were a good example of that. They'd been hearing all season how they're tanking, and the way that team played yesterday, they clearly weren't happy with that narrative, and they came out and dominated us.

I don't think it's an indictment on the coaching staff at this point in time. You can have a gameplan, you can try and motivate, but at the end of the day if guys don't execute they way there supposed to, and match the level of intensity that's being brought against you, you're going to get beat like we did. I'm not absolving the staff of blame here, because I'm not so sure the gameplan was that great, but a lot of what happened yesterday was guys flat out getting beat, especially along that OL. They know their assignments, they just got beat, whether it be they were out physicalled (I know, that's not a word) or they were too slow. They got beat. Cutler was wildly inaccurate, not on the same page with his WR's (which, quite frankly should still be expected at this point) and his mechanics we're pretty poor (again, likely to be expected still as he shakes off the rust). That's on the players.

Part of me wonders how much Jay Cutler is playing into the ineffectiveness of our offense, and questionable playcalling. They're being awfully conservative, and I think a lot of that has to do with AG/CC not being too confident in where Cutler is shaking off the rust, and having chemistry with the WR's. They were put in a bad position really having to bring in Cutler. If we're still seeing this in a couple more weeks, then there's a big problem. There already is a problem obviously, I think it just needs some time to gel still, so I'll remain patient, and given our start and finish last year, I think that's still the right thing to do and re-evaluate in a few weeks.

Well if that is true then I would expect the team to have enough time in London since they are flying out today to prepare and that should never be an excuse again for the next 14 games, I get that the team has dealt with a lot more than most teams have to endure in a whole season in the first few weeks of the season but your a professional and 0-16 projection or not so are they and ample time on all teams is needed to win, ask belicheat!!!

The team seems to start slowly and react to what the other team is doing.
I would like to see them come out and be more agressive earlier in the game.

Ajayi said basically the same thing yesterday. Said the team did not practice well all week.

    It showed.

OK. The players are confirming that they are not performing well in practice. Who is responsible for this? Who should be held responsible for this? I mean, these are players going on record and saying during the week our preparation was not good.

Heres an interesting concept, They All take responsibility for it.... Christ they all stunk......

IF They all say practice not good well then for Christ sake MAKE IT GOOD..their the ones practicing !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Problem with todays society nobody takes responsibility for themselves its always someone else....and as we will see that gets us no wheres....

I know you want to blame Gase..... well he is were as they say the buck stops but still they all need to take responsibility and Gase should pound on them to do that......

Maybe this team was more interested in getting tee's made instead of game planning

Maybe all the problems they encountered came to rest in this game. They seemed to suck it up for the most part in the 1st game and this may have been the mental exhaustion coming home to roost.

If the offense sucks because of Cutler, then Cutler does not need to be playing.

I wouldn't put all the blame on Cutler, it starts with the Coach and works it's way down to the terrible OL we have...

I'm still amazed at the Pouncey lovers, I saw that guys laid out a number of times yesterday, and Tunsil hasn't done jack yet this year...But hey, give me a gas mask attached to a bong, maybe I'd see the world differently...

Look, this team hasn't been home in almost three weeks. Their routines have been shattered thanks to Irma. We have a new practice field every week and we're losing at least two days to travel. This week, we're flying halfway around the world. It's not a secret why teams are much better at home, so people shouldn't be shocked that we are playing poorly. The team is on an emotional rollercoaster right now and these adjustments are tough.
