Nothing to do with football. We have our SFLA family down here with a long road to recovery and not one Phin attempted to raise funds for the community? It kind of shows us Miami , right now, has no superstars and if attempted, could fail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agree with you but a different situation as that was more of a localized event. Also Houston, like Miami, has many sports teams. Who was the face of the other teams in Houston? Separately, being on a penisula, many more teams and people were affected here. From what I've seen Stephen Ross has been leading efforts with his $1M pledge and the Marlins and Panthers have chipped in to the tune of $3M combined so far.
Eh micky arison alone donated 10 mill total to south florida and the carribean which is a little bit over 25% of what jj was able to raise. And thats just micky arison alone, lots of other donors coming in from other places. Honestly thought The Rock would have been our Jj Watt but hes been silent about the issue. He didnt like being put on the spot by kevin hart.
There's this: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...s-help-displaced-high-school-team-return-home "A number of Dolphins players have banded together to pay for the lodging and transportation costs for Central High School's (Miami, Florida) football team, which is stuck in Las Vegas after traveling there to face national power Bishop Gorman High School. The Rockets upset the Gaels and own a national top-25 ranking of their own, but after Irma, their plans to return home were canceled, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald."
To be fair, Houston is the biggest city in the South. There's a lot of money and star power down here. Les Alexander (ex-owner of the Rockets - $10 mil donated), JJ Watt (over $37 mil raised), and Beyonce ($7 mil donated) really kicked off all the giving. I think the Astros owner gave $4 mil, Texans owner gave $1 mil, James Harden gave $1+ mil, Tilman Fertitta gave $1 mil and tons of free food, and this is just a few of the Houston stars and owners. Chris Paul and Kevin Heart have been down here giving food away for days. I think I read the guy that owns Dell computers that lives in Houston gave the most ($100 mil). I just know that I'm proud of my city.
I mean. Do we need the distraction of a JJ? I like JJ but there's a lot more celebrities in Miami than in Houston. What is the Rock doing? Marino? JT? The U? Jimmy Johnson? I'd rather our team pay attention to winning football games.

Good point. It also comes down to popularity and let's face it, aside from Stanton, who is on a bad team, we don't have a superstar down here. Whiteside maybe, but if Lebron or Wade were still here, Im sure we would have passed JJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yup, but remember that our team hasn't seen Miami since the storm hit. Damage was thankfully minimal in South Florida so there wasn't the need for millions like in Texas. If anything, the Dolphins were more effected by Irma than anyone else.
