I'd like to see the 1st stringers play midway through the 2nd quarter, then basically tell everyone else..."last chance guys...who wants to be here Saturday?"
My bet is the non-bubble guys will play one or two series. It will be a sloppy game, but hopefully we'll see a few fan favorites, (Stringfellow for me) have a great game and make the team.
I need to check if this one is live on NFL Network- I may not do the online game pass for tonight since we shouldn't see any starters. I'm just so ready for regular season to get here....haven't been this excited for quite some time! Going to be a great year.
Yeah. Like waiting for Christmas when I was a kid. Counting the days. Good news is we have a real game to watch in only 7 days when the Chiefs beat the Pats. Only 10 days 3 hours 16 minutes or 243 hours until Dolphins football!!!!!!!!
For us fans, that battle tonight will decide the 6th receiver spot. For the coaches who see them everyday in practice, that spot may be decided already.
True..as well as it should.. Practice habits, work ethic, leadership, passion, all play a role, all things they have a front row seat to.
Just read the play-by-play: It seems that Miami is intentionally targeting specific players on drives. First drive Drake got a ton of work and a TD. Another drive was Marquies Gray. Then the Sonoris RB. Grant obviously. He had a 65-yarder TD from Fales. Interested in seeing that on replay.
I know it was the last game, but Grant has improved exponentially this year. I have to admit I wanted him cut. His route running and confidence for going to get the ball could be more improved than Parker and Carroo. Could he be the wildcard in this offense? Can you imagine some "lightening" package with him,Drake, parker and stills? Cutler needs to get on the same page w him too. Seems Doughty was underthrowing him all night. That bomb to Parker last week was under thrown too. Lets get these guys in stride, they are behind the db's anyway Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Remember how I said in another post that sometimes you have to put the ball up and let your BIG receiver have a shot at it, referring to Parker? Well with Grant's ***SPEED***, we might wanna consider putting the ball up and let that little speed demon go get it! You're right about Doughty, he under threw Grant. With Cutler, I don't see that being an issue.
Cutler under threw Parker last week deep Gase must be salivating to have weapons like this. A year ago, Parker was hurt, we had no TE and Grant was clueless. I believe Drake was hurt too (and clueless) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just to state the obvious - and I don't mean to be negative - but the deep ball game is going to depend on the OL holding up. I'm not saying it won't, just that the WR talent and potential deep game is contingent on something else.
agreed. great post. is the line better than opening day last year? Maybe? some scrubs are gone and some players are healthier.
I'm curious to see what happens this year. For ages it's been that we haven't had the talent, and although slowly we have gotten better last year the OL over-achieved for some reason. I'm really hoping an x-factor has kicked in (coaching/culture...whatever) and last year was a sign of better things to come - that we'll get better OL play than the talent might suggest. Time will tell.
