We all saw alot of blown coverages last night and in the joint practices also.Is burke up for this job or what?
Maxwell looks like early 2015 and early 2016 maxwell which is not good and maybe he needs another benching.Has anyone seen much from charles harris I don't recall hearing his name called.
The second string offence scoring against them was unacceptable.

there were good glimpses too. But yes, between them and the offensive line, 2016 issues are still at the forefront

Obviously the preseason game wasn't shown here in Maui, so I am only going on the various comments posted on this forum. Yet the defense being a major area of concern is really no surprise to me. I have thought all along that this defense will once again be a bottom tier unit in 2017 and with question marks at LB, in the secondary and even on the DL, I just don't see this team winning more than six games this year.

The offense has the talent to score a lot of points this season. Unfortunately though, the defense just doesn't have the talent or the DC which will be able to prevent the opposing teams from also scoring a lot of points.

The run defence looks terrible again and maxwell is horrible.I would start hayes over branch because he is a beast at setting the edge.I don't get the love for branch?

(Let me start this by saying I am a rank amateur. I have ZERO insights that qualify other than the rantings of a fan who probably doesn't understand football very much. If you want expert assessments, look elsewhere! ) Now, with that said-----

I agree with every bit of what Pumpdog said.

Maxwell is horrible. Xavien wasn't good. R.Jones was horrible. The run defense was equally bad. The Eagles played ahead of the sticks most of the night. Suh isn't dominating anyone and blowing plays up. If Godchaux is better than Phillips....OUCH! I think Phillips is one of those guys that doesn't practice great. He was far better than Godchaux last night.

I'll give Harris some what of a pass because he's a rookie and there were so many worse problems.

Based on how we finished last year, the concerns we had, the actions we took...I am VERY concerned about Birk--so much that I am convinced our defense is going to be horrible. Unless he can prove differently and get these guys playing with some urgency and get an identity--I am going to call for his replacement, starting now, and every game until it/he changes.

The bright spots were from Timmons and Phillips incredible athletic prowess--not from scheme. Gase has to know this...now let's see what he does to change it. Because come Decemeber, he will will ultimately be held responsible if he lets his buddy Birk hold on when it was obvious to rank amateurs in August that the guy was inept.

I think this will be a boom or blown up defense. Perhaps some of both in the same game. I can see the defense blowing up people, and also getting blownup

Off the ledge people. I agree they did not look great last night, blown coverages and poor tackling yet again and is it just me or does Jones look very rusty?

I am not putting any stock in what I see in a preseason game. I will reserve judgement til the bullets are real.

Is burke up for this job or what?

I don't know, let's see...we had one of the worse D's in Dolphins history last year, thanks to VJ, and the worse spot on the D was the LB's, who coached them? Oh yea, our new D cord....

We didn't have one of the worst defenses last season. We did, however, have a depleted defense that VJ, and Burke, coached up to be about average.

I agree...although other comments are certainly valid. Reshad Jones did look out of place last night. Our corners were getting blown out of the water. Yet these are guys who are guaranteed a roster spot and have zero reason for giving 100% effort.

To be fair he had one legit starting linebacker who was playing with one arm.

On a positive note... Wake looked good. Branch looked good. Timmons was pretty solid. Kiko is good to go. Hull wasn't bad but I'm starting to think we need to give Chase Allen a shot!

Ya Ya we all know you're stooopid, but not any more so (or any less so) than anybody else around here brah! Quit apologizing, just let her rip!

I think the Iggles are going to be purty good this year. And I don't think we showed what's really up either. I hate to admit it, but But Jay and Jay might be DIIIINOOOOOMIIIITTTE!!! this year. And the D is going to be better once the training wheels are off.

I worry about Raekwon being hurt and what that does to our defense..we don't have his replacement on the roster..he was going to bring dynamics to the position that we haven't had in a long time...

I'm not sure who is gonna call the plays now

I think we gotta look to make moves during the final cuts. If any CB or LB worth a damn is available, I would sign him.
