I think we can't go wrong with Dorsey or Chris Long

the #1 pick is too high, wayyy too high for a RT

id sorta prefer Dorsey, but it seems we are pretty stacked with guys at DT....Holliday, Fifita, Soliai, Traylor, Wright.

but at DE, we have JT, Roth....Robinson and Moses are young and COULD turn out to play well, but id think DE is more of a need....although i think eventually Roth and Moses will pan out well. our DTs are just inconsistent, and i have no idea whats up with Soliai...but i know Wright is good.

We have less depth at the position than you think. Traylor is retiring after this season, Fifita should never have made this team in the first place, and Soliai may or may not pan out. Furthermore, Holliday is not what he was in 2006, and Rod Wright may or may not be a good player, and it's very presumptive to skip Dorsey because Wright may pan out--and even if Wright pans out, he's not as good as Dorsey, period.

Dorsey is good, I watched UT and LSU tonight to see if Dorsey did anything and there he was as per normal, on the sidelines.

That said, there is a month until the Bowl Games that LSU will be appearing in, whichever one it may be, perhaps then he will be what is claimed that he is.

It is true that Fifita and Solai are not even reliable depth at DT, and Traylor is retiring, but that doesn't mean that Dorsey is the obvious, as we need more then just Dorsey, we need 2 0r 3 more solid DT's even if we take Dorsey.

    Combrine both trades.

Swap picks with the Falcons gain picks plus D. Hall

Trade down again with Dallas - not enough points?
How about Marcus Spears to sweeten the pot?

He's been what he's claimed to be his entire college career. Get over it, man.

Glenn Dorsey hasn't claimed anything, people have projections, no more no less.

Let me ask you Desides, when LSU plays in January, will GD's play have any effect on your view of drafting him?

Not really, no. A solid game will reinforce my opinion, but a bad game won't do much to degrade his view in my eyes. The book is written on his college career, and it's titled Beast: How To Make QBs Crap Their Pants.

Roth is a backup, Moses will be real good once he gets some upper body strength

I think we could really use either Dorsey or CLong

our pass rush is non-existant and our run defense is a work-in process

if we could grab Dorsey/Long, a new MLB and coach up our young guys(we need to get a bona-fide DL coach) our defense could be really good for years to come. Will Allen has blossomed so we could wait for '09 to look for a shut-down corner

I wouldn't say Roth is a backup . . . but he does look better as a situational pass rusher. I think the other dude was pointing out that we have alot of YOUNG talent on the DLine . . . and he is right . . . and I probably wouldn't go DLine, but with us most likely picking first . . . . there is no LB, WR, OL or DB that merits #1 IMO, and with a 0-11 team . . . u have to go BPA or trade down and stock pile . . . . reaching for need would be a stupid thing. And if Dorsey is best rated . . . we take him, no matter who we have on the DLine.

I think the first option is trade down but not out of the top seven. If we keep the first pick my choices would be Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm or Chris Long. Dorsey is a huge question mark because defensive linemen with back problems scare the hell out of me and I dont think you pay number one money to a defensive tackle. McFadden is the best player at the one position we're completely set at so he gets passed over. That and I'm not sure Mcfadden fits Cameron's system

Chris Long is a prototype 3-4 defnsive end who is equally adept against the run as the pass.

Matt Ryan is the prototype QB who has potential greatness possible if he can reign in his propensity for the occasional gunslinger pick

Brian Brohm should have come out last year. Staying cost him millions. He's endured a horrible team and new coaching staff but is basically NFL ready.

If we trade down to five to seven and none of the three mentioned are available I would turn to Dan Connor to replace Zach

    Back in Miami
Chris Long is the pick I'd make no question.

Like I said earlier, if he is anything like his daddy . . . and can put up solid combine #'s . . . I would much rather take a DE over a DT with the #1 pick. He has had a fantastic season.

Roth gets engulfed by OT's, pash-rushing is definitely his weakness

sometimes it looks like Rod Wright is the only guy capable of getting off his blocker. I'm betting that Dorsey and Wright could wreak havoc next year

Maybe this year, but this season has been an enigma with our pass rush . . . . last year I felt very comfortable with Roth comming in for Kevin Carter . . . I still remember when he manhandled Steve Hutchinson in that Minny game . . . the whole DLine struggled early . . .

But I will say this . . . maybe JT's success made teams focus on him more and on Roth less, and that attributed to his success last year, and this year since he has fell off, Roth has as well . . . . I dunno, i don't even wanna remember the defense we saw the first 7 games this season.
