http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ns-omar-kelly-open-letter-20170726-story.html I'll make sure and tell him "nice article today"
"I’m what people call “an influencer.” It’s a new term that I’m not really comfortable with, but it is what it is. I don’t intend to be, but it’s the cross I carry." Omar "The Influencer" Kelly
For an article supposedly about the Dolphins he uses the personal pronoun an astonishingly high number of times.
Oh... his stuff is so painful to read. "I'm an influencer...." get out of here with that crap. What a tool. To me, it stinks of a piece to try and hype everyone up to the team, and himself, so IF it comes crashing down he can go over the top to rip them apart, and fall back on... See, I had hope. They crushed my dream. I'm not always negative. They should just label everything he writes as a rant and opinion, not an actual sports journalism type of article.
Only thing I'll say is that it's one of the few articles I've read from him that actually offer hope for the team. He is not one to jump on the hype train.
Most people on this site like to rip omar bcause they want to hear everything is great and we have the best players in the nfl every year. Well he has been right most of the time on this team because they have sucked for years.I for one feel good he is optimistic!
He's a punk. Armando is the gold standard. Omar Kelly can't even write well. Glad he's positive as he's such an influencer. Would hate for him to derail our season by not being optimistic. I'm sure all the players look to him as the tonal pace car.
People like me couldn't care less about his predictions and football "evaluations". I just want facts. Omar is self important. I wanted to know Omar less, not more.
No, they rip him because he's clueless about football. This egotistical clown only generates clicks by his evident ignorance and stupidity.
You mean like the time he had Legadu Nane as the "break out" player in camp? Then tabbed him as one who would have a good season?
There is empirical evidence that being a pessimist is the best way to live. If things do go bad, you were right all along and that is satisfactory (I told ya so...), if things go well then hey! things are going great, better than you expected, and that is satisfactory. If you look at life, the negatives far exceed the positives, and in the NFL where thousands try to make it and only a select few do.
I do not mind his pessimism. Just how wrong he is and how he argues with people when he is completely wrong, and the fact that he is more of a personality than a reporter.
I agree Omar is a little beach, with no waves. But Mandi the gold standard??? You been in my stash again??? Mandi is a yets fan. You want a "Gold Standard"? Try the club level here.
Yeah dude, you're so off base here. People rip Omar because he continuously takes the side thats going to create the most drama, for the most clicks. That's the ONLY way you can consider him a good writer. He generates clicks. Now, don't confuse that at all with the fact he knows what he's talking about. People don't like him, because he has no clue. The fact is, it's easy to be negative as an opinion giver in the NFL and be successful. Because the majority of decisions, coaches, and players ultimately "fail" compared to their expectations. So, let me offer you this advice. He's been "right", "most of the time" in your words because he takes the negative approach which more often than not, is right in the NFL. That's not because he's a genius, it's because he;s playing the odds, and negativity sells papers, subscriptions, and clicks online. When it comes to the game of football, on the field, the guy has no clue. You feeling good, that he's optimistic is just the blind leading the blind IMO. He's being optimistic IMO simply to generate those clicks down the road, banking on the fact that if this season, doesn't pan out they way he's just so "optimistically" told you it should, you'll revolt and be upset just like he will, and he will take pride in it. It's either that, or he's going to take pride int he fact that FOR ONCE, he was "right". The guy is clueless. All he's good at is selling negativity, his own narrative, his own image, and clicks. As an actual football writer, he has no clue. I cant believe people still don't understand that.
Exactly. That's Omar's whole deal. Those who still fall for it to this day, I feel sorry for. But hey, if that's your outlook on life... so be it. Enjoy the ride I hope.
Too many people pounce on the cliche's..... He may not be some guru (I find the way he pretends to "grade" players during draft time HILARIOUS) but he has seen enough camps to recognize things are looking better. His opinion only has merit due to his experience at Phins camps prior to this season. So while I wouldn't rush out and buy SB tickets in MN just because Omar said so....I do think it is so closed minded to just write everything he say's off.
I would challenge that line of thinking...what is it based on? Football teams? Life? Ask any successful business owner about the powers of positive thinking.
Non-South Florida resident here: Who is the go to guy for all things Dolphins? I saw Armando mentioned above, I'm familiar with him, as well as Adam Beasley (Probably my favorite) and Chris Perkins.
I'm also a long way from FL so this site is where I for years now have found most of my info. It all gets posted here anyway. As far as the beat reporters Barry Jackson seems pretty fair and balanced. I also don't mind Andy Cohens stuff on the official site, even if it's mostly unicorns and glitter. I like glitter.
I told this cat I was a fan of his today and he basically acted he was god lol. He probably knew I was kidding Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think this article was him covering himself in case the Dolphins do take the next step and shine and people throw it in his face he can say "I predicted the Dolphins were going to be good back in July". But his article was also pretty vague in the way he used "expected", not exactly making a prediction when you continue to say we should expect this and that. My guess if they fall flat this season he can claim in never really made predictions they would be good, just what we should have expected to see.
Omar has done an amazing job of being vague enough to seem right and an expert. I filter out his articles and tweets to see what the latest news are, for example injuries and signings
Some of you think he's just a bad journalist, which he is, but really what he's doing is awful Shtick and every time you click his links you're helping him to be successful.
Love old sports photos and especially love the Polo Grounds. If you like it there is plenty more here if you're on twitter: https://twitter.com/OTBaseballPhoto ^^^ that's my account.
Should have Pele' kicked him in the shin. Total waste of an awesome job. Sun-Sentinel should hire one of us.
