Rookies start to arrive today for their run up to next week's training camp.

So, all things rookie - hopes, predictions, needs?

Some details on the rookies from DolphinsWire:

"While the official start isn’t until July 27 for the Miami Dolphins, their rookies will report to training camp on July 20. Not only did the Dolphins select seven rookies in this year’s draft, but the team also signed 14 rookie free agents shortly after the draft.

Here are the 21 rookies that will report to Davie on Thursday:

    Charles Harris, DE
Dolphins selected Charles Harris with their 22nd overall pick in the first round of the draft. Harris will join a defensive end rotation that has Pro Bowler Cameron Wake, Andre Branch and William Hayes. At Missouri, Harris recorded nine sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 2016.

    Raekwon McMillan, LB
Raekwon McMillan played middle linebacker at Ohio State, but he will likely play as an outside linebacker with the Dolphins. In his junior season at Ohio State, McMillan racked up 102 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks.

    Cordrea Tankersley, CB
Miami is deep at the cornerback position, but the team selected Cordrea Tnakersley in the third round anyway. In his final season at Clemson, Tankersley finished with 52 tackles and four interceptions.

    Isaac Asiata, G
The Dolphins have needed help at guard for a few seasons, so they decided to address the need in the fifth round. Although Isaac Asistawas a fifth round choice, he will have a chance to compete for playing time at the guard during training camp.

    Davon Godchaux, DT
Behind Ndamukong Suh, the Dolphins have needed depth at defensive tackle position for a while. As a junior at LSU, Davon Godchaux had 62 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 2016.

    Vincent Taylor, DT
Miami selected defensive tackles with back-to-back selection as they chose Vincent Taylor out of Oklahoma State in the sixth round. In his last year for the Cowboys, Taylor recorded 51 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

    Isaiah Ford, WR
At Virginia Tech, Isaiah Ford posted back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons. Despite being a seventh-round pick, Ford has a good chance to make the Dolphins final roster. Last month, Draft Wire named Ford as the biggest steal of the 2017 NFL Draft at the wide receiver position.

    Undrafted rookie free agents

OT Eric Smith, Virginia, 6-5, 300 pounds
    RB De’Veon Smith, Michigan, 5-11, 228 pounds
WR Malcolm Lewis, Miami, 6-0, 187 pounds
WR Drew Morgan, Arkansas, 6-0, 193 pounds
WR Francis Owusu, Stanford, 6-3, 209 pounds
WR Damore’ea Stringfellow, Ole Miss, 6-2, 218 pounds

DE Cameron Malveaux, Houston, 6-6, 251 pounds
DE Joby Saint Fleur, Northwestern Oklahoma State, 6-5, 245 pounds
    DE Praise Martin-Oguike, Temple, 6-1, 255 Pounds
LB Chase Allen, Southern Illinois, 6-4, 241 pounds
CB Torry McTyer, UNLV, 6-0, 195 pounds
CB Larry Hope, Akron, 6-0, 183 pounds

I think the first three picks have to start/play a lot. Charles Harris is a DE and in the div with the Pats, you can't have enough of those. Same thing for Tank. Rae is a desperate upgrade to a unit that needed it

There are more in the know on the rookies than me. But obviously, you'd like to see the top four picks contributing week one and their time the rotations grow each week. They should all be starters this time next year. As far as the undrafted players go, Morgan has had a lot of good press. Here's when they get to prove it.

I LOVE that Harris reached out out to JT to have him train and mold him in both gym and tape room. It demonstrated his desire to be great and should pay immense dividends. It still boggles me that no DE had ever asked JT to mentor them before but I guess when you get to be an NFL player there's a heaping helping of ego.

I'm sorry, was the secondary the problem last year or was it the run defense? Or the first two lines of defense.
So because the secondary was solid last year, and you add back Jones, X in his second year, Nate Allen and TJ Mac, we aren't deeper?

What wasn't the problem on defense last year? I mean Kiko and BMax were nice to see but the whole D besides Wake and Suh was kinda a sheet show last year.

we have addressed issues, quietly. No splashes. We are better on defense from camp to camp the last two seasons

Both. The secondary was okay initially then it was gutted by injury. The run D was never okay. Frankly, it's a miracle we made the playoffs with that D.

Yeah I agree. Don;t know when our D fell apart so badly. We have always had very dominant defenses and have never been a team you could run against until last year. Still don't know how last years DC got a HC job instead of a hat and a help me I'm homeless sign...

The Dolphins have had missed tackle issues for the last few years. It's been one of the most frustrating things. I find it one of the most difficult things to explain. There are so many instances where guys get there and then just bounce off, or miss. Scheme? Talent? Mentality?

25th in passing TDs allowed, I'd say that was a problem.

When it comes to Raekwon, man, we haven't seen his type of consistency ina long time..I'm hoping the team will just stick him in the middle, and let him do his thing, his thing is being a true mike backer, it's who he is..give Timmons body a brake and let him play on the outside, do some pass rushing and coverage, which he can do both, and let that viscous dog Raekwon bite as a pup.

Teams did not have to throw the ball because they could run it easy enough, but when they did; as mentioned 25th in passing TD's allowed is not a good thing.
