Probably for a lot more than he would have cost them if they just kept him, too, right?

By the way, both Woj and David Aldridge said that Olynyk had a bunch of suitors, and Aldridge said he was surprised Miami was able to get him at that price. Both guys also said it was a good pickup for Miami FWIW.

This Heat roster is so crazy versatile and full of potential that Spo is going to have to spend 30 games just figuring out lineups. Battier is going to get a workout giving Spo all the analytical data. LOL. I love it.

I really think that they are going to be able to unleash an big man lineup that can combat small ball. Whiteside, Olynyk, Bam/JJ, Winslow, Richardson/Waiters. You wouldn't be able to roll with it all the time, but dang...

Heck the base starting lineup is going to be pretty interesting.

Sorry, Boik, it's sadly comical at this point. Sometimes it feels in the NBA like the good teams get ahead by just not making bad decisions. Reminds me of the Dolphins before Gase. They couldn't resist making bad decisions.

JJ got 6-11 for 18 pts. and 7 rebounds as well.

You should love James Johnson. He's a throw back to Anthony Mason. Big, Physical, Skilled, tough. Just a shame he was a **** up for the earlier part of his career and it took him this long to find a coach to whip him into shape.

Just throwing this out there...what can SPO do for Melo? Hmmmmm.......

LOL. The Celtics are trading Avery Bradley to Detroit...for nothing. GREAT MANAGEMENT.

TWO players I regularly say are top notch on the C's...Bradley and Crowder. They are trading both.

This is an oft overlooked problem with landing a whale. If done improperly it can lead to more talent leaving than accruing. That's why Heat fans were nervous about Hayward. We wanted him, but losing possibly both Dion and JJ was going to hurt. Unless you can, you know, get three whales in one year. Then you should probably do that.

They still have Tatum but theyre banking on a rookie to make an impact. No rookie has walked into the league and made an impact immediately since Wade. Its just unrealistic.

So they basically got gordon hayward and are giving up bradley who is an all nba defensive specialist and jae crowder. Yeah i dont think the celtics are the much better than the wizards now.

I really like Hayward. I see him as a well-rounded player who can get his own shot. He's already very good and still ascending. That being said, I'm not sure the Celtics improved this off-season. They lost a ton of depth. And I wasn't sure they were better than the Wizards last season. That playoff series was close. If Olynyk doesn't go nuts in that one game the Celts probably lose. My impression was that the Wiz was more talented but wasn't as good at knowing how to win. They lacked that consistency of effort. My feeling going into the off-season was that you had four teams in the East (Boston, Washington, Toronto and Miami) who were all equally capable of being the second best team behind Cleveland. Now that most of FA is done I don't feel any different. And I don't even see Cleveland as unbeatable. They're clearly a step above (and I worried that if they got Paul George it would be an insurmountable step), but I felt Miami matched-up well. We would need to be at the top of our game, but I saw more than a puncher's chance. I'm not predicting that Miami or any other East team will topple Cleveland, but I don't see the gap as that large.

I think NO will not be all that good, especially with the West being strengthened. I see them cutting bait with Boogie for some picks.

I wouldn't call Marcus Morris nothing. He's a stretch 4 who can score and hit free throws down the stretch. He's much better than Amir Johnson for sure. He doesn't make up for losing one of the best young 3-and-D SG's in the league though.

It will be interesting to see if Boston is done. They have the assets to still make some big moves before the season starts. There was talk of a Marc Gasol trade, but the buzz on that seems to have fizzled a little bit. Ainge has been hesitant to pull the trigger on giving up these assets for the future, and maybe he just waits until LeBron leaves to do so, or maybe he just hangs on to them. As it stands, I think Boston has improved a little bit, but they still have some problems. They aren't very deep, they're not great defensively, and they have no real rim protector. That's a team that has no chance against Cleveland if they're playing their best, and a team that I think is beatable for Miami if they're playing well.

As badly as I wanted to see Cleveland last year in the playoffs, that's how badly I want to see Boston this year. Beating them after all the fans and pundits said Boston was the better spot for Hayward to win, would be just so sweet.

Wait - they are trading Crowder, too? I thought they only had to move one. Horford and Morris are the only big men left on their roster - and neither could grab a rebound if their life depended on it.

I have a smoking hot take - if I were the Celtics with that core I would rather pay Bradley than IT next summer. Bradley is a really good role player.

Word is, it looks like Miami is also going to find a way to bring Ellington back. I'm not sure how they can fit his deal in, but that seems to be the feeling.

never underestimate the stupidity of danny ainge... sure he looked like he won the round against Riley when he got Gordon Hayward, but just like the Dunleavy sweepstakes he manages to crap on his own pants..

One idea is send him to waivers, hope he clears, and then sign him to the room exception. But that's very high risk.

very risky. Any number of top teams would be itching to pickup a 3 pt. specialist to round out the rotation. Remember, the Heat had to dig deep with a $12mil for 2 yr offer to land him last year. he had suitors.

Based off of the reports, it seems like Miami somehow made it work where they won't have to release him. Albert Nahmad seems to think they might have used "unlikely bonuses" in some of the deals. That also means they'll still have the MLE to use on someone, although their rotation now seems fairly set:

    PG: Dragic
    SG: Waiters
    SF: Winslow
    PF: Olynyk
    C: Whiteside
    6: JJ
    7: TJ
    8: Ellington
    9: Bam
    10: Richardson

The Heat signed Trey McKinney Jones to their summer roster. He was pretty good for the Pacers against the Heat and probably immediately becomes the best shooter on the summer league team. He's a former Miami Hurricane and I think was with the Heat in a previous summer league. Tim Reynolds feels he has a shot to make it to training camp.

Miami officially says they're not waiving Ellington. They found a way to fit all these guys under the cap. Riley also calls Waiters one of the best two-guards in the league.

There was never any doubt they would find a way imo.. you dont let go of a sharp shooting three pointer like wayne. I dont care if hes the 10th guy on the rotation... the more talent the better

The Heat are the best run organization in South Florida and it isn't close. The videos that they're posting on social media are exciting and emotional.

The Heat are the best run organization, but the Dolphins social media game is fantastic. Tom Garfinkle is also very good at his job.

The entire Dolphins production team is fantastic, IMO. The content they put out is among the best in the league.

Honestly after another year or two of working on Bodybuilding.com's video team, I wouldn't mind trying to make a move to the Dolphins' team if an opening presents itself.

Zhou Qi - 25 mins, 17 pts, 6 rebs, hit two shots from 3. Yeah, that works...lol. 7'2" and has some handles.

Isiaih Taylor - 10 assists, 1 turnover. He will definitely make the roster.

Troy Williams - 29 pts. He proved last year he deserves a roster spot.

I liked what I saw. All 2nd round picks or undrafted guys. Lonzo Ball...5 points, lmao.
