I think we have to make a move and get dion in, unless the Heat feel its time to give TJ more minutes at the 2.
Based off of a previous article by Jackson, that is actually a slight discount for JJ. I think he'd be fine with it, but that article estimated his worth at $10M-$15M, and Waiters at $8M-$10M per year.
I just want Sideshow McBob gone. That contract is a very dark cloud hanging over the team. Too many years to even send him to a team trying to meet the salary floor.
How bad is the luxury tax if we sign Hayward, JJ, and Dion? Wouldn't it be worth it for Arison to advance further in the eastern playoffs and make a **** load of money? I really don't know about this so forgive me if the luxury tax would be a lot more than the revenue from playoff games.
It's not a luxury tax issue. It's a cap issue. You can only spend up to the cap unless you have Bird rights to a player, which we don't for any of these guys. So the Heat won't be going into luxury tax territory this year because they can't. Now, maybe they can somehow get creative after trading some players to retain both Waiters and JJ in addition to Hayward (if they can land him), where eventually after resigning these guys they could hit the luxury tax in the future. But I don't think that's an issue.
God, I hope they get shut out. Even if Miami doesn't land Hayward, let him go back to Utah instead of Boston. I want Ainge to look like an idiot.
Some stuff on Twitter that Hayward and his wife already started looking at houses in the Cocoplum subdivision of the Gables Really rich people live there, for those who couldn't guess lol
Apparently Rudy Gay is still in play. I continue to say I could see him taking a 1-year prove it deal in Miami, although it seems like he has garnered some more interest around the league than originally thought. Either way, Miami has a reputation for setting players up for big pay days.
This is where it started to get real with the LeBron rumors years ago. I still don't want to let myself get too excited yet, though.
Woj says jazz are confident gordon will sign with them, hes been active in their facilities since the offseason began
Waking up to PJ Tucker as a Rocket. Windhorst saying CP3 talked him into taking less money. Great job. The bench is set. Now, let's just take one more stab at the Millsap sign&trade.
If anyone needs a laugh this morning, or just some outrage porn, I suggest reading the Celtics RealGM board Hayward thread. They're about two hours away from the n-word spilling out
It'd be great if we get Hayward, but I'm totally cool if we don't. Love this team and this organization. Got some promising young guys, some fun vets, Spo, the culture top to bottom. We're fortunate. That run last year was amazing. The bottom's not falling out of this thing. HEAT basketball will always be good in these hands. Though beating out the Celtics for this whale would feel sooooo good.
Riley and Spoelstra are heading to Los Angeles to meet with Dion Waiters today according to Barry Jackson.
NeNe is back. Way to go, big fella. We needed that discount. The bench is definitely set now. Dantoni should have a field day with this roster. PJ Tucker, CP3, and Zhou Qi (Chinese DPOY) should really improve the defense.
In other news, that treadmill in toronto i thought was broken at the end of season, has been renovated.. theyll bounce in the first and second round at least one more season
Actually Kyle Lowry might be Lebron james.. lebron last year signed a 3 year 99 million dollar contract.. kyle got 3 year 100 million from toronto
Well he knows he's our backup plan, I understand him feeling some type of way. If we don't get Hayward he's going to have leverage.
There aint that much leverage.. if he thinks hes getting max then i suggest he start talking to other teams.. 12-14 per season is about right for him
Sac-town gonna Sac.... What a dumb move that is. He's good but not 26.5m a year good. That's just crazy
Personally, I always see the player going back to his old team until proven otherwise. It's hard not to see it that way. It's really tough to predict this one. If he goes to Boston you're like duh, reunion with Brad Stevens. If he stays in Utah you're like duh, been there for six years. If you're Miami though, your angle is either being the money leader (they are) or some sort of sum-of-the-parts argument including in no small part Pat Riley being a magician. Personally, that's not the most enviable angle to be attacking this from. Woj said on ESPN that the relationship with the head coach is going to be one of Hayward's biggest considerations. He's been with Snyder and become an All Star under him, and he played for Brad Stevens at Butler. That's the nagging feeling I've got about this. The other thing is, Miami going out on a trip to try and salvage Dion Waiters, no matter how much they try and put out statements saying that means nothing about Gordon Hayward, to me it's like saying yeah we need to operate like we're not getting Hayward until/unless he actually picks us.
Milsap to the nuggets 3 yr 90M. Good signing for Denver....they needed a go to type player and he's a solid two way player
Tim Reynolds says the Heat have a "better than 50% chance" of signing Hayward. He believes Utah is out. He also said Bam Adebayo reminds him of Dwight Howard.
