It will be interesting to see if Miami trades for a 2nd round pick. Usually you can just buy one. They have had some guys in that are clear 2nd rounders. Mason would definitely be a guy I'd look at. Dwayne Bacon, too, if he falls there. I kind of doubt they will because it will shrink their cap space (even just a little), but we'll see.
If no trades and no one (like Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum) drops to my Knicks at 8, I want Ntilikina. Give me him, Josh Hart at 44 and either Wesley Da Silva, Sindarius Thornwell, or VJ Beachum at 58 and I'll be happy.
Nope, he got it twisted, Knicks getting calls, not making them. They're not shopping him, they're receiving offers to see if they'd deal him. And Phils ego is feeding the media frenzy. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rzingis-demands-reportedly-too-high-for-teams
The Knicks responded to Bostons inquiry (for KP) asking for BOTH Brooklyn picks (this year and next), Jaylen Brown, and Jae Crowder. I'm disappointed Phil. I said to ask for the sun, the moon and the stars. That's just the moon.
I don't think that's all that much, really. Brown and Crowder are role players. The picks could be good, but there are zero sure things in that deal. I'd MUCH rather Booker and 4.
I'm not a big booker fan. He's a lesser Malik Monk without as much athleticism. Fans criticize Anthony for being one dimensional but players like Booker and Monk are the exact same way. Brown is still a baby. He's going to be good in a year or two.
Fair enough I guess. We'll see how this plays out. It sure is fun to watch from afar. I'm not necessarily a Knicks hater. I just think it's fun to watch their fans suffer. Not out of schafenfreud, but Knicks fans are so entertaining when they suffer. They do it with so much gusto. Totally different than pre World Series Cubs or Red Sox fans. It's really a unique thing. And it's hilarious.
How do we afford that Brown will get significantly better, but Booker, who is a few days younger, won't? Booker is already a really good scorer and should only get better in other areas. We'll see on Monk, but if he's better, that's not a knock on Booker. You are absolutely entitled to your opninion here, but to me, I would much rather Booker and 4. You'd get a great scorer and a great defender (Jackson) in that deal that would fit great next to each other. And if they develop on the other end, you legitimately could have two of the best players in the league. I don't think Crowder or Brown will ever end up at that level, and who knows where that future pick will land in the lotto. Hell, in the East Brooklyn could conceivably be a playoff team if Russell ever realizes his potential.
I never said Booker wouldn't get better. I was going by what he is right now. And like I said, I wouldn't deal porzingis at all unless it was for an entire first round or something equally ridiculous. But if I had to pick I'd rather have Brown, Crowder and both Nets picks.
Aldridge to me is kind of a no brained if the price is right He makes less than Whiteside and is essentially an expiring. He would have to be awful to opt in next summer which is unlikely You'd have his bird rights so he could opt out, you could make other moves and then resign him, depending on the cap hold
Per Sam Amick, Kings willing to trade #10 for a player and later 1st This could be a spot for Heat to trade TJ and either pick a faller (Monk, Markkanen) or flip #10 for Aldridge Also, Windbag reporting Cavs and Spurs engaged on Danny Green. That would be a good get for Cavs
John Collins is sort of a poor man's Healthy Harry Giles. And both of them will probably be there at 14, funny enough. But yeah, his NBA fit is just so dependent on him stretching his range to 3. I feel pretty good that he will shoot it well, but still a big projection. If you're a big who can't switch, can't shoot 3s, and can't protect the rim...tough to find playing time. If we're going to take a guy like that, I prefer Jordan Bell from Oregon who does have the tools to guard smaller guys in space. Collins' motor and athleticism is intriguing though for sure. Kuzma fits the Heat's drive and kick game better. Supposedly he's really improved his J. My hesitation with him is that he's almost 22 and still has a ways to go towards having an NBA body. Really needs to work on his lower body strength, in particular. Late bloomer and a late riser over the past few months.
Would love to move up to 10. Particularly for Ntilikina or Monk, though my hot take here is that Monk is gonna go top 5 tonight. My other thought is that De'Aaron Fox could fall to the 10-ish range, maybe lower.
I'd rather Monk/Markkenen and the cap space. LMA is a 31 year old player who doesn't push the Heat over the top. I don't really understand the interest.
I'm not that shy about guys that have taken the time to work through their kinks and be more NBA-ready. The Heat seem to do really well with those types. That to me is what Kyle Kuzma is about. A few years ago you might not know he could develop this much, but he did. The question to me is whether you believe in his jump shot or not. I do, based on what I've seen. But I also believe he's a nice ball handler that can play point-forward, that he is also a pretty good passer, has a decent basketball IQ, etc. He will continue to develop physically where I think the NBA will be a bit more rigorous and demanding about that than college was. Barry really pushing the idea of Miami taking a big at 14. But if there's a rumor that the Kings are willing to trade back from 10 for a player, then that's pretty much the key to an Aldridge deal. Forgive me if this is a dumb question but would that preclude Gordon Hayward?
It would be tight, but no. We'd need to trade TJ, McBob, Ellington and #14, but that should leave a max slot or super close to it with LMA. Probably need to clear McBob completely though rather than stretching him
Are you sure? I thought as is, the best they could do is Hayward and like 8-9M. TJ only opens up like another $6M, right? Isn't LMA a max guy, or close to it?
If this team is ever going to be a contender again, a move like this could set them back years in doing so. If you can somehow get LMA and Hayward, I'm on board. But I just don't see how that happens.
1 hour boys. This has been a crazy offseason, no telling what's gonna happen. The only guarantee is I will be drunk.
Tyler Johnson is the guy to watch for tonight with these trade rumors, especially with the cap being a good bit lower than expected. I would actually LOVE to see him in Philly, and he's exactly what they need on the contract they need.
Not sure at all. Could be completely wrong. I think if we do absolutely nothing, we have $34 million in space. If we trade TJ, Ellington and McBob that's $18 million approximately. LMA is $21. Think Hayward's max is $27. That's enough right?
I don't think we have $34M if we keep Ellington. I think that's the number if we decline his option. I could be wrong on that, but I think they need to let him go in order to even have a max slot with the lower cap.
Ok. So if we trade TJ and McBob that's $45 million. Aldridge $21. You'd need to trade Winslow as well but I think that's just enough for LMA and Hayward
Maybe. Trading McBob is a big if though. The Heat would almost have to give up assets to move him. And to trade Winslow, you had better know you're getting Hayward, which I don't think they'll know.
