More that those 4? Nah. Equal? Sure. I don't know why T-Hill gets so bagged on. Best QB we've had since Marino hands down. Kid keeps improving each year. Just because you want a new car doesn't mean there's another car you want that's better and you can afford. Right?

Notice how you didn't include Ajayi or Wake lol. Also, scratch off Jones and Suh. I'm a big fan of Kiko but I've gotta give Landry the nod there.

Not sure I've ever loved the makeup of a player more..." I don't want to be a bad thing for the Dolphins, so I show up."

    He's worth it.

You know I polled an LSU football website the question, who would you take first if you had to?... Landry won the poll..crazy right, but those are fans that watched them for multiple years playing side by side..

Yeah it's hard to have such a high percentage of first downs for slot possession receivers like Bess and Landry.

    Landry's around the 55% mark.

Someone like Mike Evans sits at the 84% mark.

Are we thinking about OJ McDuffie? He had a few seasons in the mid 90s where an amazing percentage of his catches were for first downs.

In 2012, Brandon Gibson (yes THAT Brandon Gibson) was with the Rams and caught 51 balls, 5 were TDs and 43 were 1st downs. Of his 51 catches, only 3 weren't a first or TD.

I think 25 got this a little wrong, I think it was attached to 3rd down, Bess was an insane converter.

I remember BB talking about it, game planning and 2Xing Bess over it.

(On how much pride he takes in being a successful possession receiver, being toward the top of the league on converting third downs) – “I take pride in that tremendously. Any time my number is called, I am willing to rise to the occasion. I am out there every day competing and ready. That all goes back to [the whole offense]. The line giving Chad [Henne] time and giving me time to get ready in my route. If he is getting pressure and rushing out of the pocket, there is no way I am going to be able to separate or any other receiver separate and get open to get the first down too.”

I've lived in Louisiana for 20+ years. LSU fans aren't very smart. I love Landry too. Bought his jersey. First purchase since Jake Long's 77.

But OBJ was clearly the better prospect coming out of college and has been a better pro.

I'm from Louisiana and a huge LSU fan...if we needed a clutch reception at a critical time, that was Landry. OBJ was more explosive and could get big plays, but his fumble against UGA cost us that 2012 game. OBJ (then and now) cut both ways. Dont get me wrong...i love Odell, but he plays with a huge amount of ego.

I had obj rated above as well, hi first round actually, but the gap overall got closer when you take into account everything, including things like Juice is here with his team, and obj is not with his..philosophically they are different and who knows how far or how far apart that can make or divide a team..

    OTA participation is overrated.

If the argument is Landry v. Beckham, I'm pretty sure the consensus among NFL front office types is Beckham. But I do love me some Landry.

pretty sure it is the consensus, but I would bet that gap is a lot closer if your considering the whole package at this level..

who knows, theres no way to measure it, but after this year we might see some evidence..

Don't get me wrong, I love Jarvis Landry. He's exciting to watch, he has the ability to turn a short play into a big gain. He's quick, he's elusive, he can break tackles, but let's not grant him Sainthood just yet because the man does have flaws. While off the top of my head, I can't point out specific numbers, how many times last year did Jarvis...

Dropped passes HE should have caught?
Fumbled when trying to break tackles when he should have taken what was given to him?
    Get penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct?

Don't get me wrong, losing Landry would suck to the highest level of sucktivity but a lot of these BIG contracts players receive anymore truly NEED to be incentive based. You'll receive x number of dollars guaranteed however, these BIG bucks you want?

X number of receptions? added $1-2 million on season
X number of yards? added $1-2 million on season
X number of first downs? added $1-2 million on season
X number of touchdowns? added $1-2 million on season

Set a high bar that you EXPECT from him (or any other player for that matter) and if they achieve that bar, pay them their incentive salary but don't just blindly pay these players for them to sit back and skate because they signed a stupidly astronomical contract and there's no incentive for them to produce.

I just hate it when you have to blindly pay players anymore which takes away from our ability to attract other players to Miami due to the salary cap.

OBJ is gonna get paid. Landry WANTS to get paid.

So he has to show up. OBJ is getting PAID no matter what.

Nope. A slot receiver is a slot receiver. Landry is great, but he's still a slot receiver. ODB in 1 year, 2015, tied Landry's career TDs. ODB's TDs is remarkably consistent. 10, 12, and 13.

And he has the same number of catches through 3 years, at a deeper average depth of target, and deeper yard per catch. ODB is an animal. Landry is a great football player.

Landry brings some intangibles to the table, but if you're looking for a breakout year from Parker, Stills to take the top off, Ajayi to run the offense through. How much should you pay Landry? You have a lesser talent in Humphries who is quite effective as a slot receiver.

I think it's smart for the Dolphins to see how this year plays out. If he's still essential (because Parker doesn't step up) then pay him. If he isn't, because Parker did, well.
