The jump in conclusion you're making is that you believe Thill's contract kept us from re-signing players like Miller. It didn't.

Well you could argue we would've been strapped for cash because of Wallace, Tannehill or Suh.

You are jumping to the conclusion that Tannenbaum's valuing the runningback's position less than Miller's contract, having anything to do with Tannehill's contract.

Dolphins weren't strapped for cash. They could have signed Miller.

I'm not talking about just one player. I've already stated multiple times in different threads what we could've had instead of drafting and paying Tannehill.

Moore for less, draft Kuechly, retain Vernon/Smith, retain Miller/Clay, draft and develop McCarron.

    You could, but they weren't.

Tbaum isn't going to just throw as much money at a player as that player wants.

And all of those are jumps to conclusion. Only one that was prevented by Tannehill is Kuechley.

So tell me where the money comes from to retain Vernon/Smith, Clay/Miller with Tannehill's contract on the books because I'm not giving up Suh.

They Dolphins have been under the cap by over $10 the last 5 years. All those players mentioned could have been signed. Might not have gotten a Mario Williams or a Byron Maxwell or a Cameron or Brent Grimes. The only player you mentioned that wasn't replaced by a player who was making similar money was Miller.

    Vernon was traded.

They did not want to retain Vernon/Smith due to play. They did not want to retain Clay/Miller due to value.

If you don't think we should've retained Vernon, Smith, Clay and Miller instead (whatever we could've afforded), just say so, but don't make it seem like we could've retained all of them while keeping Tannehill on that contract. We've struggled to fill all those positions with good talent except RB.

Basically what I'm saying is our replacements for those positions don't make up for the difference between Tannehill and Moore.

we could have retained Vernon, Smith, Clay and Miller while keeping Tannehill's.

Just because we have struggle to fill those positions (Except runningback, got a cheaper better replacement), it isn't because of lack of spending. Vontae is not paid much more than Maxwell or Grimes. Clay is not paid much more than Jordan or even Thomas. Smith was only paid $6 million a year. They had around $50 million to spend that offseason.

I 100% do not agree that Miami lost any of the players that were mentioned because of Tannehill's contract. The struggling to fill those positions was not due to lack of cap space. A combination of poor decisions and draft picks.

Also, while I thought it was a stupid idea to let go of Miller, I was proven wrong as Ajayi has proven to be a much better runningback.

The math doesn't add up. Why not Ajayi and Miller?

The math does add up. Tannehill was only close to a barrier last season. Dolphins had over $10 million in left over cap space and paid Mario Williams over $8 million. Paid Maxwell over $8 million. They had the space, they wanted to spend, they did not want Miller for that price. Had nothing to do with Tannehill.

How many times do I have to say we could've retained and/or picked up any combination of multiple players and not just Miller?

The problem is you think any non-QB player you wanted to keep or obtain and we didn't was because of Thill's contract. That is just false. You are putting together things that don't go together. I know you think they should, but they don't as the actual truth is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more nuanced and steeped in facts and other issues.

So you're saying all of those guys contracts combined wouldn't have interfered with Tannehill's contract and put us above the cap? That's what you're saying?

Not your edited view of we didn't need Miller because he wasn't worth it. Not we let Vernon go because of this reason or Smith because of that or Clay because of another. All of them.
