If Cunningham is still available agreed. :) I would also like if Lamp(b) or the CB of Clemson would be up for grabs.

Cook would be a good pick up too if he is still there. Actually there is still more talent on the board then I thought.

    Slightly left of center
Well, at least we picked a LBer. Looks like an ILB to me.

I think we just overdrafted a 2 down thumper...most classes I'd say yeah the value is right but not this one
Has good inside instincts but he's mostly a tackle box to tackle box player
I got to wonder if Timmons is kicking outside to strong in base
Someone is...if have drafted top 40 grade Zach Cunningham instead who projects more every down

We are gonna have options at mike and we are also gonna have range and athlete limitations
But we will have more fill and poa inside the tackles

Yes, for a wide nine defense you need more gap fill and poa strength from your LBs inside the tackles. He fits the scheme. I think its a solid pick.

He does fit the scheme but he's also got athletic limitations that make me nervous about eventual nickel starter.
And I will be the first to admit that zach Cunningham is a work in progress with carrying more weight and poa on that high cut thin frame. I just think the upside is much higher. Miami went the safe route. There's also some stiffness in McMillons hips on tape that show up in short areas as a tackler

I'm pretty worried about the carry coverage at lb and the safety depth is still absolute trash...nate Allen is the most likely new add to get benched.
And safety isn't gonna last til 97

Agreed, I think zach has more upside if he gets stronger and puts on some muscle. They went the safe route but both Zach and Raekwon are very good linebackers I can't complain about them picking either one.

Raekwon is not as good an athlete in coverage and I wouldn't lock him up man to man but he understands zone coverage which is our scheme and plays it well.

Well let's hope that 4.61 doesn't have them thinking he's a carry coverage option...my thoughts on why we play so much zone with the lbs is cause we had athletic limitations more than anything else. I don't see where that's changed. At any rate you make this pick don't use a 5th on another developmental mike so no Kendall beckwith

I agree with obi lacks physicality thus he lasted as long as he did
But seriously where the heck we getting safety?
There's way too much box accountability in this scheme and everything I studied as an option is gone

I'd be more concerned about who's going to play at Guard, than safety at this point. Especially with the recent run on OL.

John Johnson maybe in the 5th. Next pick should be gaurd. D Johnson is still on the board although I don't think he will last until our next pick. After him I like Siragusa followed by Asiata.

Between OG and Safety/Nickel, something is getting left out. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

The safety situation is dreadful...after Dallas Thomas finally got dumped no one graded out worse than Bacarri Rambo from a consistency of play aspect

They are probably hoping Asiata makes it to the 5th round... we will see

But for my money they need at least 2 2 deep with potential to start in 2018 picks out of those 3 5th rounders after what we did today

I like the Tankersely pick, I think he will turn out to be better tha Xavien Howard. This pick is basically getting us ready for cutting maxwell after next season when his cap number goes up.

we still need a quality guard, DT and Free safety.

Right but theres no even 3rd safety...Michael Thomas value is all specials and nickel blitz and backside ball pursuit de
We still have a massive safety hole in the 2 deep with a career long inconsistent starter option in Nate Allen and a nickel corner that struggles to stay attached out of cuts

Solid, solid draft so far. Really love Charles Harris. First time since Tannehill we drafted the guy I wanted most in the 1st round. He'll bring that physical attitude and emotional fire that Adam Gase is establishing in Miami.

I'm meh on Raekwon McMillan. He's a thumper but he struggles in coverage. Would have rather taken Zach Cunningham or Obi there. I'm not mad at the pick though.

Really like Condrea Tankersley. He has his red flags with penalties and tackling but he's real good in coverage.

Obviously we need to do SOMETHING with the offensive line now. I fear we may have waited too long but hopefully we can find a diamond in these mid rounds.

Good luck getting that dt in the draft... it's all developmental types from here forward...the nacua kid could be an option at safety but I think we missed the boat there when it comes to interchangeable box dependable types.

Yeah we pretty much missed the boat on the safeties. Josh Jones was my big want there but we just didn't have enough picks to fill every need. Our biggest mistake in this draft was not trading down in the first for more picks. I would have passed on a very flawed player like Charles harris and taken the trade offer for more picks.

We wouldn't be left with so many question marks in key positions at this point.

Never thought I'd see Jordan Willis on the board at 73 but the NFL obviously was not a believer...I thought for sure late 2nd round at least he'd be gone...held down by that trash can conference competition no doubt.
Big 12 was a joke and they told you as much.

If Nate Allen plays up to his career level we are screwed at safety barring a vet add on a one year deal which good luck getting a vet to sign for it barring injury to a starter or we find that needle in a hay stack in the draft. Which is like landing a franchise qb at this point odds wise ha ha
God this safety situation is a mess

That whole conference thing is blown out of proportion. If you look at the actual tackles and olines that Charles Harris was successful against and compare to the tackles Jordan was successful against I would say Jordan actually faced tougher competition. Harris got most of his sacks against some pretty bad tackles.

    I don't think it is

I read something where a scout that covered the big 12 said that when he read his notes at team meetings on players in the conference to the team everyone tuned out
Ha ha I'm sure they did

McMillan is a pretty good athlete and also tested like one. Can cover backs and plays very well in zone, with adeguate depth. Cunningham has good instincts, Veryy good coverage abilities but he is just bad at tackling and awkward takin in blocks. He tackles like Byron Maxwell. If he can get in the field he will have one of the higher missed tackles stats ever. I take mcmillan every day
