Ok, our reasons for drafting Lamp or a quality center in this draft just shot up to 100. At this stage Pouncey is still walking around on crutches and the plan for keeping him healthy next season includes keeping him out of preseason and training camp as much as possible and using "bubble wrap" to protect his hips. Without pouncey our OL is absolute crap. Steen is not the answer, larsen and urbik have done spot duty at C but are not proven starters there. I am looking at lamp, Elflein, pocic, John Toth. http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachp...lphins-center-mike-pouncey-still-on-crutches/ Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article146439994.html "Pouncey, the Pro Bowl center who hasn’t been able to stay healthy the last three seasons, missed all but five games in 2016 with a recurring hip injury. He’s needed surgery on both hips in recent years. However, the team was neither surprised nor alarmed by the development. Pouncey did not need an additional surgery and did not suffer a setback. Pouncey on crutches, even five months since the last time he took a snap, is part of his rehab process."
It's Adam Beasley's account saying Pouncey did not need an additional surgery and is still on track to start week 1. I don't care what they say if he hasn't had any more surgery then why is he still walking around on crutches 5 months after the end of the season? Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
"Adam Gase explained why at the owner’s meetings several weeks ago: “I’m not going to turn my back on who I think is the best center in football. I’ll roll the dice with him for as long as I can because that’s how good he is. That’s how much he means to our organization. We’re always going to have good contingency plans if something happens. No one is ever going to be as good as him. It’s just a fact. He’s that good.” Gase added: “I’m going to do everything I can to make sure Mike’s out there for his – I always tell him 16-plus games. That’s the goal from here on out. That’s the only thing I’m going to talk to him about. I’m not going to talk to him about not missing games. It’s not going to come from a negative light for me. I’m going to talk about playing 16-plus games next year.”"
I know it's terrible, but I wouldn't mind getting rid of Pouncey for his continued support of Aaron Hernandez. He's never healthy anymore either.
The last support he had was a bed sheet. He won't be supporting him anymore so I guess that's not a problem now.
Actually, those are crutches, not canes. Original description was correct. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
There are two, not one. What picture are you looking at? Don't you see the supports going under his armpits? Those are two crutches. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
The one I posted was in the original article report. Hadn't seen this one, but it could be the same type of crutch its not clear but I think I see a support coming out of his armpit. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
I want to say that I'm surprised by this, but I'm not. This guy hasn't played a full 16 game season in the last 4 years. I understand that our contingency plan is Larsen, but I'm not feeling too great about that Plan B. At any rate, hope his rehab goes well.
Canadian crutches aka Lofstrand crutches. They're common around the world. When I snapped my achilles I used traditional crutches for a little while then moved to these. Traditional crutches are easier to learn to use but the Canadian crutches are easier to use and give you much better mobility and security (i.e. You are less likely to fall while using them) once you have mastered them, which takes a day or two. If you ever need crutches for more than a few days use these babies. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lofstrand_Crutches
He isn't going to hold up a season. He's getting old and been out the last two years we should trade him ASAP and look for a replacement in the draft
It's being reported that he just had a stem cell procedure and that's why he's on crutches. (Yes, they are crutches...lol) From what I can gather he had stem cells injected into his hip(s) and it can cause swelling and pain and the crutches are to help with that pain.
That's good to hear. Those stem cells can work miracles on joints and regrow cartilage. That's what revived Bartolo Colon's career he was one of the first to try it. If that was the case they should clarify that he did have surgery and it was stem cells hence that's why he is on crutches. Getting stem cells injected into your hip joint qualifies as surgery. If it's just stem cells it makes sense and makes me feel a lot better. Hope it works well and he comes back strong. Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk
Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey underwent a stem cell procedure as part of his recovery from a season-ending hip injury, the Palm Beach Post's Joe Schad reported Monday. According to ESPN.com's James Walker, Pouncey's rehab is progressing as expected and that Dolphins head coach Adam Gase expects to have Pouncey healthy for the first week of the regular season. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-undergoes-stem-cell-procedure-for-hip-injury
