Landry told Peter King of TheMMQB.com that he expects to beat the Patriots twice in 2017. “If you’re a competitor, that’s the way you should feel, and I don’t mind saying it,” Landry said. “It’s time for a change. I have all the respect in the world for the Patriots, and I respect Tom Brady tremendously. But they’re not our big brother anymore.” “New England’s won the division 14 of the last 16 years, something like that? It’s ridiculous,” Landry said. “It’s a problem. We cannot let that happen anymore. What I’ve seen is, when we play that game, sometimes we focus on the guys on the other side of the line instead of just focusing on us. And I want to be part of that change. I want to go into the games against New England expecting to win—that’s something we need to do.”
Anyone worried even a hint that he won't get resigned you have abandonment issues..jk. No football team is unbeatable, except Shula in 72.. With the pats, no matter how hard you want to beat them, you need a coach that understands how they take advantage of over aggressive teams, and teach them accordingly..controlled smart aggression, know your assignments first and foremost or they will just mis direct you to death.
Yeah, because it's not like out of RT's first 4 seasons (the seasons he's played all 16 games) the Dolphins didn't split with the Pats in 3 of those.
Maybe he means that he's starting a cleaning service and they've been hired to clean the Pats' offices? Need a little more impact players on defense - especially pass rush.
need to go 5-1 in div. No question. As for the offense, well, they need to look at themselves and prevent themselves from starting slow because NE scores early and often. So what can they learn from those two games last year? With NE you cant be fancy. Just go with what you're good at and if you have to stay one-dimensional, like the 2nd half of the first game, then do so. They have to be successful on drive continuing plays. How many times do the Pats just kill you on 3rd and 3? they find a way to move the chains. This offense has huge expectations. Everyone should be held accountable. The Qb, the WR and the backs have no excuses. If there is a lack of production, then they need to be replaced. Julius Thomas and Parker must leave training camp healthy. This is a bad theme the last couple years, with Parker. Drake needs to stay healthy, esp with hammy.
Then why not confront the guy talking about RT? Maybe I'll create a thread about how the Pats should get a new QB because since RT has been here they've only swept us once when RT was a rookie.
I'm 100% with Landry on this one- we will sweep the Pats. That's a winning mentality and once you have that confidence, the players around you can start to believe as well. New England is a solid team, sure, but so are we. The Fins swept our other division rivals with two different quarterbacks at the helm- do you know how rare that is? That means we are getting close to being a complete team. And since almost all of our focus has been on defense so far this year, I'll go ahead and say it now- we will sweep the stinking Pats. Now, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we go 0-2 against New England. But that doesn't change my mindset. We have the tools to beat them consistently if we execute, and that's EXACTLY how I want our players preparing for those match-ups. Destroy the Pats- that should be our new motto. Because once we sweep NE, we own the AFC East and likely the whole darn conference. So that's the goal- spank those cheating *** Patriots.
we could question if JL knows something about Brady retiring, but we all know the Pats can win with just any ole QB
I can't question or criticise the guys winning mentality. For us to surpass the Patriots we need to believe that we can beat them, then go out and do it without having any lingering doubts. However, talk is cheap unless they go out and do it, and this sort of reminds me of when Vince Young called the Eagles the dream team, and I think Desean Jackson or Lesean McCoy at one point said they were favourites for the Super Bowl (not sure if this was in the same season though), neither of which ended well for them and in the dream team case ended up as a taunt. For me, I like Landry's optimism and I hope we do sweep the Patriots. But I would have preferred for him not to have come out and said it because this could add an extra incentive to the Patriots which they clearly don't need.
I guess the board would rather hear him say that the Pats will sweep us Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The key to beating the Patriots is getting to Brady with 4 rushers. With Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan, the Giants we able to get pressure on him without blitzing. If you blitz, he throws to that side and picks up huge yardage.
