Howard had just 83 catches for 1,197 yards and five touchdowns in 30 games in his last two seasons at Alabama. That would be a concern to me.
While I think Howard is an overrated prospect, those are solid numbers for a tight end (outside of maybe the touchdowns). Lane Kiffin was also notorious for underutilizing him with that offense. Lastly, he had a freshman quarterback who probably relied on his feet a little bit too much last year.
They are solid numbers for a TE, but not a 1st round TE, he played a lot of H-back and overall played a lot of 7th blocker, he was good vs college level talent using his long arms, however the pro level LBs he faced ran right through him. He's also a lazy, clueless route runner, which is why I think he was used as 7th blocker so much, I've watched this guy run routes like he was punching a time card at a factory, I run down, then I run out, with literally no attempt to get open. I think he's a total boom or bust project, a la Dion, this guy with all these physical gifts who didn't produce at a high level in college, sound familiar? To me, that's a red flag I'll always avoid in the 1st round, jmo.
Engram is gonna be good at the next level, a real weapon, I think you leave a tell on the table when he's in the lineup but he also runs as fast as most receivers, he basically a serious weapon for offense, huge wide receiver with great feel, hands and clutch play..
