Edgar Thompson writing a headline one way and writing an article the other. Talk about full-on CYA mode.

If the media's backpedaling after initially (and fervently) writing Beck off, it looks like our QB competition is heating up.

Seems to be more local media bias as Desides said...titled one way and written another...Sure, since CP was signed, his chances of starting have dwindled to nothing barring an injury to CP, but his chances of staying, at least from the organization's opinion haven't changed, at least publically.

I have to laugh at the local guys that leaked the "Beck cut" rumor...seems as tho they got wind that there were going to be cuts made that day and just assumed, from their own bias, that Beck was the target of the cut...

I don't understand the bias tho...Beck hasn't done anything that we're aware of to warrant any bad feelings. His play has been what was expected given the poor coaching, surrounding cast and position he was thrown into last year. Could these guys still be upset because of not drafting Quinn ?? I don't know...I'd just like to see the kid get a legit shot. The organization, even tho they aren't the ones responsible for his being drafted, are fiscally responsible to give him that shot IMHO...

  4. I agree. I think he has real talent. I get this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that if we release him, he'll be picked up by the Pats & explode. They will then trade him for a 1st round pick & we will again look like schmucks.
Hey, I know that it's not realistic, but that seems to be the way our luck goes.

Personally, I hope they hang onto Beck rather than McCown. Some players take a little longer to grasp the Pro style of play. He's had much, much less time to develop than McCown has, and McCown hasn't impressed anyone. Beck is still young enough to possibly develop into something and at least be a decent 3rd string option.

Personally I would love for someone to offer us a 2nd round or 3rd rounder for him. Barring that let's keep him. His salary isn't that high and he might turn out to be a good qb. I just think Henne will be better. Unless someone offers us a really good deal let's keep Beck.
