I got laid off from my job close to two months ago. I was the database admin for a state political party (my background is political science, not tech). I mention this because Democrats use their own database for dealing with voter data. So my skills working with that database aren't very transferable to other jobs. They had started to implement stuff that made use of SQL and stuff like Python but I didn't have a chance to work with it.

So I wanted to ask the forum if they knew of any good (hopefully free) training guides or resources that can get me familiar with SQL so I can put it on the old resume. That and any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Amazon a book titled "Headfirst SQL". You won't regret it.

There's also a good website to practice called sqlbat.com
