Full disclosure: I am a rank amateur. I have no special skills...please don't think I believe I am smarter than anyone who works for the Fins. I am a fan with just an idea. And its probably bad! ;-) Now then.... I have a few scenarios if I were running the team. I would try to trade DeVante Parker. I know its going to cost us 6 mil to cut him, but we save three million in cap space...so its a net loss of 3 mil. It sucks, but IMO he's not in the future plans. In my scenario, he nets us a 2nd and 3rd round pick. That would give us a first, two seconds, and two thirds (counting on a comp pick for Vernon and Miller and/or Matthews. My first order of business would be to try to trade up using one of the seconds as bait to get Reuben Foster. If successful, in the second round, I would select Dion Dawkins, and in the third, the best pass rusher still on the board. If I could not trade up, I would draft Forrest, Forrest Lamp in the first round. The best LB and pass rusher in the second. And I would double down on LB and maybe try for Duke Riley in the third...he can run and he can help on STs. But if we could have Stills and Landry extended, have Reuben Foster and Dion Dawkins on the team...we will have gotten younger, and more stout...
I'm not so sure about that sentiment regarding DeVante; I think Gase treasures him. All in all, this was good, though. Rumor has it Tannenbaum and Co. are feeling out trade possibilities for a "big-name cornerback". The media is throwing around names, but Aqib Talib and Richard Sherman continue to come up. Could be smoke and mirrors, but if true, this is huge. Also, trade talks with Jacksonville appear to be heating up. I've heard Julius Thomas is on the table in exchange for Branden Albert.
Im sure Gase sees Demariyus Thomas w Parker. It is too early to give up on him, esp with Stills still unsigned Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Devante Parker is going to be just fine. The only thing stopping him going forward will be his health. Dude is an Alpha WR.
I have seen glimpses, but I am pessimistic. I don't like his use at the end of the year. He was used as a possession WR
And if we sign Stills, no way do we pick up the option on Parker....way way way too much money at one position.
Honestly your propsals are terrible. Devante is just coming into his own he will be an elite wr if his health holds up. This offense depends on having a good reciever core getting rid of Devante will create a whole we dont have to worry about right now. Then your pick of ruben foster I think is also terrible, foster does not impress me much he is just a big hitter nothing special overall. Cunningham would be a much better pick. Trade Parker? How about no... He's had 2 seasons in which he's battled some health issues. Last year, it was the surgery on the foot. This year, it was a bad hammy. Despite injuries holding him back, he's flashed plenty of playmaking ability. If/When he gets to 100% health, he's going to be special. No reason to trade him, especially for pennies on the dollar.
He could be injury prone. Maybe Stills stays and if Carroo works out, I can see him traded Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My proposals probably are horrible. I'm not really great at this... BUT...I know if Stills is resigned, that's a 8-10 mil a year WR. Jarvis extension...10-12. JT is 7 mil...nearly 30 mil in three pass catchers. How many passes are even going to be thrown to a fourth option? Trading him MIGHT be able to get us Reubens Foster. I would make that trade!
Hey Redwine, Don't be so down on yourself. Parker really has been good in flashes although his injuries have hampered his career. The fact is Parker has the frame and the size to do special things which he has done. There are few people in the world with the size and athleticism that Parker has which leads us to Stills. There are few people in the world with Still's speed and big play potential. Instead of looking at each receiver individual, try to look at the greater gestalt. Parker is the size/speed blend guy. Stills is the burner. Landry is the move the sticks/slot/possession WR.
Where did you see this? I would duck tape Parker up and throw him in my trunk for a drive to Seattle if we could get Sherman for him! But it aint gonna happen. Sherman owns the shehacks D
Yahoo! Shehacks need lots o help at WR. Shermans been a bit "disgruntled" since losing to the pasties. I don't think it would be worth the cost but wow, that would be a big move! Parker and a second? Parker and Pouncey? I'd do that.
