I know it was a while ago, but as all of us know, the Killer B's/Bees were already a thing. And now they're using it for the Steelers offense, and its taking off. Al Michaels used the phrase multiple times during that game, and now there are graphics all over twitter using it: Annoying, or harmless? At least they could come up with something original. It always sucks when we have to cheer for the Steelers to beat the Patriots, and now we get to hear people call them the Stealers the "Killer B's". All I know is no matter what, I'll be cheering for the Falcons/Packers to win the Super Bowl.
Before my time, but my dad has a bunch of Miami Dolphin VHS tapes that I watched when I was a kid and I remember seeing these guys. Even if it was before my time, it's a little annoying. Had to look them up to see who they were.
The original squad made plays up and down the field on route to a SB when they earned that title. The Steeler's have their own "Steel Curtain" to live up to, and any reference to that historic term, aside from their colors, imo was poorly chosen.
A combination of the colors and that awful bumblebee uniform probably inspired the name. But I had totally forgotten about the Miami Def. Killer Bees - very cool history lesson!
I don't think this is a big deal in the least, all it is is signifying that multiple important players have a B. It's just like calling the stadium "the rock", even though there is already an arena of a major sports team called "the rock". In both cases they are reused nick names that are fitting, and neither nick name treads on sacred ground, so to speak, I mean the killer bees died in the exhaust of "the diesel", which is another nick name that has been used multiple times, including by us.
