I saw that as well, and also thought it was interesting. Probably looking into that too much though.

Maybe they're talking about Andrew Franks. Patricia also went to R.P.I.

With all the talk of Joseph getting HC interviews, Gase could simply be putting out feelers. They may have been sharing baking recipes. Heck, who knows?

I do know that they didn't want anyone knowing what they were talking about, though.

Don't kid yourself. Denver wants him, and has wanted him previously apparently.

Denver is going to take him. They interviewed him before. This is a good thing...if we play Denver next year, Jay will run all over them.

Saw that sub rosa exchange as well and it was odd. When have you ever seen an opposing HC/OC spending that much time talking to a DC? Bellichick and McD barely spoke for more than a second, but Patricia and Gase spoke for several moments under their hands.

Why would they? He was a position coach, who was just promoted to first time Coordinator position this year and our defense, while struggling with injuries, has not been great at all this season. He needs more seasoning and experience as a DC first IMO.

Hopefully Patricia is tired of being in a cheating organization and wants to be DC for Gase.

Can he bring us 2 healthy starters at Safety, a starting quality CB, 2 LBs, and a DE? If so, sign him up.

I'm honestly not sure why they would. Some of the people on here think VJ is the greatest thing since sliced bread. You hit the nail on the head; he is a position coach who had a horrible first year as DC. However, if they want him then good luck. VJ isn't the coach that matters for us.

Yeah, but in fairness, but has lost 6 or 7 starters on Defense and has struggled with injuries all season... Reshad Jones, IAQ, Mitchell, Misi, Vigil, Jenkins, Howard, Maxwell, Mario, and various other things like the Jason Jones suspension along with having to sign guys off the street mid-season like Rambo and Butler.

Can't honestly evaluate him one way or the other based solely on this season, but I am confident that we'd have a better overall defense if we hadn't lost so many players this season.

Horrible isn't exactly how I'd put it.

The overall stats do suck. There is no denying that. But if you did your due diligence and informed yourself, you would see that Miami is doing decently in the stats that matter to his philosophy. In this type of defense, the overall yards aren't the 'end all, be all'.

During the win streak, Miami was near the top (or leading) in things like QB pressures, sacks, and turnovers/turnover ratio.

Trust me, no one in the building is happy with the yards allowed.

But in '13 (I think) when he was in Houston, their defense (and offense, for that matter) was top-10. Their record? 2-14.

Look deeper into things before going off the deep end. Vance Joseph is a solid coach and Miami is good to have him. You can't change injuries and you can't change implementing a new defense with many new faces on that defense. We're without an All-Pro safety, for crying out loud! That's a HUGE impact!

Some signings haven't gone well (Mario Williams). Are you going to blame Joseph for that one? We are getting out of longer third downs better. The best in the league! If you've been a fan for a while, then you would remember those longer third down conversions. I think last year alone, we had a few of 3rd and 20+ converted.

It's a new system with new players with a ton of injuries to key players. We had Mike Hull at OLB this game because of injuries. Is he really an OLB??

I'm not defending the yards. Everyone knows it's not best-case-scenario. But to simply call Joseph "a bum" tells me you're not informed. He's a good coach. The only reason he wasn't a coordinator years ago because he was under contract and the Bengals were ****-blocking.

I personally do not think he goes anywhere this year, but this guy will eventually become a head coach someday. If that makes you happy, fine. I would rather he stayed a while.

This game is good! Get a kick in the *** before playoffs. Twice we really got our asses kicked, both times we responded well. This game means nothing, next week our new season starts, and honestly, I am very proud of this team, win or lose, but man, if they win a playoff game, that would be something special! Even better if we go on to upset the Pats

My NYE weekend was nonstop and didn't even get to see the game.

So I take it they forced our offense into throwing short all game long? Clearly Brady carved us up too. The secondary has me feeling a bit worried for the 2nd go'round with the Steelers.

I'm thinking its a bit of both. Some teams really want him. Some see him as a name that won't get funny looks if hey interview him as he's wanted by a few teams

    Just got done watching.

I was wondering what Gase would show given that there's a potential matchup in the playoffs. Most of the 1st half was vanilla and poor offensive rhythm. The matador defense also didn't help matters. While working almost like a magician to break out of a would be sack, Moore followed it up with a ball he should've just thrown out of bounds. I understand he's trying to make a play, but he was too off-balance to even try to drop the pass downfield between two defenders. It's simply not in his wheel house.

Once Gase switched up to the hurry up offense, the momentum started to shift in Miami's favor. Then the Damien Williams fumble in the 4th quarter killed it. This is a game where the Pats held Ajayi in check, but I was definitely impressed with how they were still able to move the chains and take what the Pats were giving them. The drags and crossing routes are becoming a nice bread and butter as more often than not MM8 is leading his receivers allowing them to make plays up the field. Gase's playcalling really does wonders for these guys.

Impressive stat coming out of this game: MM8 has only been sacked 1 time since taking over. He's got extremely active feet back there - my only gripe is that on occasion they're almost "too" active as there are times when he's not planting his feet to drive his throws.

This happened in both games vs. NE. We go hurry up and suddenly the offense improves. If we get to face NE again we better learn from this and start the game that way.
