No. Just like there was no battle between earl morall and bob griese or earl morrall and johnny unitas. coaches go with who is the better qb every time. there is zero chance gase would go with moore even if moore throws for 500 yds per game and six tds on avg and the dolphins sweep the rest and win the SB. What would happen though is he would be traded to some other team however or let go depending on if his contract is up
Ryan is the better QB, but we are talking about a borderline top 10 qb vs one of the best backups in the league. Not some huge gap that can't be bridged, and a SB would certainly be a game changer.
we would trade moore to cleveland or houston or some other team that would give us ridiculous compensation. thats what belichik would do and thats what gase would do
what about OJ Howard from Alabama if he's available with our first? I'm really liking the possibility although we'll probably go linebacker
I actually like Sims, but if we get a shot at a Travis Kelce like talent early in the draft we should take it. Travis had some personal issues that limited his draft status. But yea, this team needs LB help in the worst way. Will be one of the disadvantages of picking 32 this year..
Yep i whiffed on the run game I sure didnt whiff on the matt moore analysis That was replace me level qb play tape all the way
Since its unlikely Tanny would ever do that if Moore did that he's better. Period. He wouldn't, but it's your scenario.
You analysis of Matt held for the first 2 quarters. Not the 2nd half. Your boy Gase even defended Matt by saying he didnt do anything to help him get a rhythm to start the game. Of course since he's saying that about Moore instead of Tanny you will disregard it. You gave this team no shot. You certainly didnt predict 2 Moore touchdowns .... supposedly it was gonna be 5 picks. Smh Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk
Maybe this watching from the sideline will help tannehill. It's boring to me that 22% of pass attempts are behind the los and 70% are within 10 yards. I have little faith that he is going to turn the corner and it will be another wasted 7 years similar to Henne.
Well I can guarantee it's not the first time you've been wrong about something. If you can't see the difference between Tannehill and Moore or Henne you are just being salty and jilted af.
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article123488594.html It seems most are impressed with Matts ability to step in and produce like he has. Good call Key! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't know why we have yo go this. What's the point? The Dolphins have good coaching a good starting QB and a backup QB we can win big games with. Why do these debates in this thread matter? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This thread was created for giving people a reason to believe Matt Moore could steward the ship. Nothing wrong with that considering playoffs were at stake. Unfortunately (and predictably) it went down the path where certain posters felt the need to rag on the OP because of his effusive praise of MM8 and then of course try to remind everyone that Tanny is the team's QB.
I came in saying we would be fine when Tannehill went down because of Moore. and I got reemed for it. That is a great article, thanks for posting.
Not a problem- I figured that most here didn't know Moore played seriously hurt for most of his Carolina stint so they wouldn't understand how solid he can really be when healthy. And Rock is right- I never meant this to be a knock on Tannehill at all; I'm a fan and looking forward to him returning. But in the meantime, I think that we are blessed to have Moore coming off the bench and providing solid leadership skills in December. That's all this entire thread was about.
I think this should be Pinned at the very top of this entire thread. This I totally get. WE are lucky to have Matt Moore. He is not garbage...he makes plays and is our QB right now...let us all support him...until our starting QB is healthy enough to come back...whether that is this year or next. WE need Matt Moore to play well if we are to have any shot winning in the playoffs. I believe KeyFin when he says this thread was not meant as a slap to Tannehill...I just think posters on both sides of the QB debate took it as an opportunity to push agendas Think its time to finally put this nonsense to bed and all come together to watch this amazing run this TEAM has been on...just my two cents
Wait, five games averaging 500 yards and 6 TDs per game? Including playoffs against presumably good defenses? Um, that would be the greatest stretch of quarterbacking in the history of professional football, by far. It would make Kurt Warner look like Art Schlichter. If Gase proceeded to trade Moore away after that he would probably be hospitalized pending psychological testing. Not going to happen, of course.
right... And you are looking forward to have RT back, of course: because.... you are looking forward to have ao0ur chances of victory and our ability to score decreased? I am not sure I follow the logic, but clearly this thread was just about how good a back-up Moore is and nothing more.
The thread is about whether or not they could continue to win with MM8 this year - since he was thrust into the starting role. Doesn't have anything to do with being a backup or not. That's why this conversation keeps degenerating because people want to continue to argue who the starter is for the long term.
Sir, I just quoted the parts from the Original Post that clearly indicated that this was not about MM being a good back-up, but something else (the back up gives us better chance of victory and scoring then the injured starter, but this has nothing to do with him being a back up or not? ok...) If you can read it, good for you, otherwise... I am sorry enjoy
@JDang You know how you brought up the theme about it taking 8 games to get adjusted to a new offense. Well consider this about MM8 with the Dolphins - after his 4th start in 2011 as a Dolphins (vs. Chiefs) he finally got his first W and then: Starting Record: 8-3 Completions: 170 Attempts: 280 Comp%: 60.7 TD: 21 INT: 7 Average QB Rating: 100.33 Average Points on Offense: 26.3 Can't say enough about this guy. The franchise is lucky to have him on the roster for a situation like this with Tanny and his knee. You have to manage him a little bit, but luckily he has that vertical killer instinct so the entire offense doesn't go into a shell like with most NFL backups.
That would have been great and all if you would have actually quoted me instead of making something up- The Jets played us like Tannehill was the QB and Moore got 4 easy TD passes....with at least one of them being unscripted according to Gase. That's the benefit of a quality backup. So you can twist my words all you want but it basically comes down to you're angry that I was right. I can't help you with that.
I completely understand your sentiment but I've banged this drum since last years draft; we need defensive ends and a few of them too. We are paper thin at that spot and no matter who the linebackers are they'll be exposed due to an inability to pressure the QB.
Agreed. Although, I feel like we are every bit as thin across the whole oline factoring in the injury histories of Albert & Pouncey. interior OL/DE > LB >>> TE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Any other position.
