BR Article - Mike Freeman's 10-Point Stance: Ryan Tannehill May Have Finally Found His Groove "First, an apology ... I was w-r-o-n-g about Ryan Tannehill. Wrong as the day is long. Wronger than a 600-pound Santa trying to slide down a chimney. Wrong, wrong, wrong. After I spent several years backing Tannehill, followed by another several saying he'd never be a star, before finally giving up on him, I have to admit Tannehill is a good quarterback. Maybe even better than good. So what happened? ... But two players who have studied Tannehill on film explained to me the Dolphins are playoff contenders mostly because of him. And for that, they also credit head coach Adam Gase. According to these NFC veterans, Gase has opened up the offense and simultaneously put an increasing amount of trust in Tannehill. They don't believe it's much more complicated than that." Rest of article via link above.
These next four ( hopefully more ) AFC games will be the ultimate test. Each one the biggest game of his career.
Still doesn't make any sense to me, when we are playing like crap its everyone's fault but RT, now that we are winning against an avg sub .500 teams RT is the savior. How wrong they are the reason RT is playing well right now is AJAYI the two 200 yard games followed by the 100 yard game made defenses stack the box and concentrate on him which leave the play action which tannehil has been killing it with for the past 4 weeks. I will admit he has gave me a little more confidence in him after a few throws, it is getting better but I hate this argument he has avg just a measly 200 yards a game in 6 games and the YAC yards are outrageous. in all I think his confidence is growing and the more he fires the ball down the field is only going to help ajayi which ultimately makes RT easier with the miss directions and the play actions. the next 2 games will tell if they have enough to make a playoff run.
No. We aren't crediting Tannehill for the win streak. We are pointing out that Tannehill is playing well right now, as we predicted he would, with competent coaching and at least an average oline. The team is winning because the TEAM is playing better. Stop trying to spin this into something it isn't.
People pointed out he needed to improve his pocket awareness, needed to improve his 3rd down %, needed to improve his 4th quarter performance. He is doing those things now\lately and everyone sees and admits the difference in his play, yet somehow we were wrong lol.....
You're right, of course. 1. only way to improve 3rd down% is Tannehill 2. only way to improve 4th quarter is Tannehill 3. coaching and decent oline play haven't been the biggest difference Comical.
This is why I don't pay much attention to beat writers. He has no idea we lost to the Pats IN GILETTE on the final play of the game WITH our 2nd and 3rd string line on the field....BEFORE we developed a running game , BEFORE our defense stepped up, and BEFORE Parker was actually healthy enough to be on the field. We are worlds better of a team today while the Pats are now banged up, and only a fool would say that it's impossible for us to beat them. Of course, he doesn't know that we've beat them three years in a row at home either....because he's a beat writer. So if he doesn't know that, then he probably sees no way we could beat them in week 17 and take the division. But hey, that's how an idiot makes an apology I guess.
I just don't understand these conversations anymore. Any time I said Tannehill stunk, it was over those three things (plus accuracy in general). Any time I said he was great, it's because he did those three things well. So there's no right or wrong here, the haters and the followers basically saw the same thing. The "pro" group of fans just saw these improvements coming short term, while the "haters" expected it to take years. But guess what? We are in year five...it has been years. So either everyone is right or everyone was wrong, depending on your perspective. At the end of the day though, it just doesn't matter. RT is our quarterback and he's playing great football, along with our team in general. That's the only thing anyone should be worried about if they're a fan.
Those things came suddenly, though, with the acquisition of a good coach and a line that didn't feature 3 of the absolute worst linemen in the league.
