What do you all in the gaming forum think is a good possibility (or none at all) for us to ever see a NCAA football game again?

I for one, miss it dearly and would play it daily! There been rumors, and Kirt Herbstriet has been vocal about a return.....what say you?

I'd like to see it return. Even more, I miss NCAA basketball. College Hoops 2k8 was the last good one. I think EA released one since then but it sucked.

I don't post there as much anymore, but I do read what Operation Sports has to say about the games I'm interested in, and the guys there think its unlikely any time in the forseeable future. They have inside connections at EA, and really, really downplay the possibility hard. The reasons are complicated and have a lot of levels.

#1, the lawsuit filed by [BLEEPING] Ed Obannon still isn't totally finalized. Until they tie up all the legal odds and ends, they can't officially do anything.
#2, both the NCAA and EA want to be 100% sure that they won't be legally liable and open to any future lawsuits if/when they make the game. They'll need to make certain its done in a way thats completely safe from their perspective.
#3, this will likely mean that any future game does not include editable rosters. Even if the rosters are 100% generic from EA and bare no resemblance to real life players, some feel that the ability for fans to edit them and share them is enough for players to try and sue for cash.
#4, EA doesn't have one unified contract with NCAA football like they do the NFL. They need to do deals with all of the different schools and conferences, which takes time. They have also said that if/when they make a new product, they will only due so if its as true to life as possible. This means that there's no hope of a generic college football game that might have great graphics and gameplay, but fake schools, if they can't make it work with the NCAA.

I'm only making a guess, but I think its very possible that there will be another game at some point in a few years. From what I've read though, its absolutely not happening in 2017, and probably not 2018. The NCAA team at EA were all let go when the game was cancelled, and although they use many resources from Madden, they would need to build the NCAA game from the ground up otherwise, including modeling all 100+ stadiums for the PS4 and XBOX1 systems which never had a game.

Here's what I'd do with the game.....

When you play a franchise, you start yes with the current rosters. But 4 years into it, its all generic, CPU generated players you have to recruit. Id start a new franchise in a new game immediately recruiting those generic players, with more sporadic through the current roster. No name generic players. Give bama, FSU, OSU, Michigan etc more superstars....and go from there.

And I agree uneditable rosters for sure, which is sad lol

That would be SICK.... SICK. Imagine NCAA 2018. You pick a team for the 2022 season (making it so no current players will still be on the team). You can cater your team's season to be in several preset situations like:

    - Rebuilding, after 3-4 bad years you've finally landed a 5 star (Choose - QB, WR, RB) and a 4 star (Choose 2 from RB, WR, QB, LB, DE)
    - Title Contender, lost in the playoff last year your top tier team plans to make another run (Here you'd start with a prebuilt GOOD team) and you choose if their a run team, pass team, defensive team, etc.
    - Small Program, you start as a smaller school that hasn't been good for years and don't have much top talent coming in

    See this is perfect.

You get a little more rope if you take the small school with a challenge or a team on a losing skid....however expectations are high if you take over Bama or OSU...if you wn 5 or 6 games you may be fired and have to start at a place like FAU or Troy to work back up the ranks. Would be awesome.

I think it will come back eventually, but it will be quite some time, which is a damn shame. There's just too many issues to iron out. Right now, the last NCAA is the only reason I'm still hanging onto an X360 at my place. I played a few games about a month or two ago actually. I'd forgotten how much I missed it.

I've still got my copy of the last one, but I have my PS4 as my main console now, and the PS3 is in another room and mostly used as a DVD player for my kids, so I haven't played it in years. Good chance that I never will again. I know guys online who still do almost religiously, though.

I keep hoping to see with every XB1 backwards compatibility game release that NCAA will be on that list... That would make my.... everything.
