Dolphins changing uniforms-maybe

I just hope they work on the lamest TD song in the entire NFL. The Dolphins song needs some edge to it, badly.

I'm going to say they NEVER change the palette or the logo, I'd cost way too much money to redesign everything. If they change anything, please please please go back to the 70's era uniforms. The numbers were much easier to read.

If they change the mascot, I'm voting for the Miami Somatic Hypermutations, or the Miami Cytotoxic Killer T Cells.

 

Come to think of it, didn't Parcells just change the Jets' uni's back to the Super Bowl III style? So maybe he will bring back the 70s uniforms.

"Somatic Hypermutations"? 'Mutes for short? Hmmm....

 

Oh anything like this would be unveiled in February or March, maybe even as late as around Fathers Day (for those nifty Fathers Day presents). No change happens after TC opens and not until the season ends.

Now what do I think of this ? Well I hate it, because the all-whites worked for us in the 1970s and 1980s and 1990s. No need to change a damn thing. Aqua, coral and white ARE the Miami Dolphins.....nothing else will be real. And this can only be done because the front office needs to make up revenue for falling season ticket sales, game ticket sales, etc etc etc.

The argument for it of course can be the Tampa Bay Bucs, but lets face it, as low as we have been for the last few years, its nothing like the frustration Bucs fans went through for 20 of their first 25 years.

 

While I have an affection for the song, because it brings back memories of good times, I feel for right now, it shouldn't being played. Until we return to the playoffs it should be on hiatus. Just my opinion.

Bill Parcells changed our uniforms (and did a fantastic job renovating the old uni's from the 60's and 70's and now he's doing it in Miami. Although, I've always loved Miami's uni's (aside from the home teal jerseys which are just god awful). They should be interesting. I wish there were pictures and I'm wondering if this is going to be for the this season and beyond or 2009 and beyond.

I think an Overall Regular Season Record of: 369-267-4 (0.577) should speak for its self.

 

I'm not surprised that this was brought up again. I am not sure if some of you remember this but it was brought up last off-season as well, when the Chargers got their new jerseys. Their was talk that the same designer of the Chargers uniforms would design new uniforms for us and then there would be a new logo as well.

If we do change our uniforms, no matter what year it is, I guarantee you I will not buy another Dolphins jersey unless its a throwback of the jerseys we have nowadays or the jerseys of the 70's. I don't care if your Bill Parcells or Ron Zook, you better not touch this teams colors.

 

Funny how you say that now, but just last week chad was the best thing since sliced bread ...all I heard from most jet fans was how they were playoff bound, some even said S/B, this entire off season. and now, chad sucks,weak arm, blah blah blah

Ha. Not from I. I said this team with Chad could win 8-10 games, but Super Bowl bound not a chance. Not with Chad. Any Jets fan who dreamed of Super Bowl with Chad Pennington 2005-present was delusional.

Yes I was. I've wanted Pennington gone since 2005 when he got hurt for the 74th time. Enough is enough. Most Jets fans felt the same away after he **** the bed in the playoffs against New England in 2006.

The logo has just become more modern looking, there hasnt been drastic change since 96.

To qoute Homer Simpson: "Why doesnt the Dolphin on the helmet have a Dolphin on the helmet? Who's side are you on man?"

 

I don't think too many people miss the old Denver Bronco's logo with the orange D and the horse on the inside of it. Sometimes change is good.

 

I'd rather have those Thanksgiving throwbacks. Those were sweet.

I say forget the trends, let's set our own and go back to the old look!

 

One potential fact on this rumored change being generated in August, is that the NFL, at Reebok's request, now wants a one year lead time on any change in a uniform. For instance this year the Rams wanted to wear their classic (1973-1999) uniforms for the opener this year, as a memorial to that awful woman who owned them. That awful woman died in early February of this year. The NFL did not allow the Rams to do so, since Reebok did not have the one year lead time they want to get production done they way they want to.

I also miss the old 80's Jets Logo and the 80's Giants Logo.





The only one that I could do without is the old Pats logo but even that is fine since I grew up with that one.

IMO, all of those teams have better logos now than before. The Broncos new logo is 100 times better than that old ugly D. I don't think Miami needs to change their logo, but if it's an improvement, how can you not like that?

 

Actually more than a few have stayed the same : Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, St.Louis/Arizona, Kansas City, Dallas, Baltimore/Indy, Vikings and Pittsburgh.

Detroit, Arizona, and the Vikings have changed their uniforms.

 

I believe the Packers and Colts are the only two franchises that have remained the same. Even Cleveland is slightly different (not to mention they're a completely different franchise now)

EDIT: The Raiders have also kept their orignal pretty much in tact.

 

Every year we hear rumors the Phins are going to change their unis.

 

Actually, the Colts and Packers helmets changed slightly over the years in terms of facemask color and decal size. No significant design changes. That said, both franchise logos (as opposed to the uniform logos) have been tweaked over the years.

Hey, I kinda liked the old bucs logo.

 

A Dolphin is never going to look really tough, but it is the team name and I think it will always be a part of our logo, unless we go with the name that I believe was 2nd in popularity when the team became a franchise in 1966 (the Sharks). I think the Miami Sharks has a nice ring to it, and they could make a killer logo, but I think there is a lot to say about tradition. The Broncos logo was really outdated, and their new Broncos' logo looks a lot better. Maybe we could just modernize the logo and uniforms a little?

 

Good call. The "G" logo hasn't always been around, but there have been a mimimal change to the uni's. The Cowboys have also had some very subtle changes to their look, but nothing major.
