Jarvis Landry is the heart and soul of this team. We need to keep him and lock him up now. He's proven his worth. There's no reason to wait and see if he deserves an extension at big dollars.

He makes $947,000 this year and $1,105,000 in 2017. What kind of money do you think he would want to be extended? How much does the CBA allow for us to give him a raise for 2017?

well, if they are committed, they should do it now with a big extension that might be cheaper than when he hits the market.
He's a much more obvious choice for extension than either Miller or Vernon.

Landry can be given an extension after this season, when the new league year begins in March. I would peg his value at around 11-12m per season, based on contracts that other WRs have gotten lately.

Doug Baldwin got 46m over 4 years, with 12m guaranteed.
Keenan Allen got 45m over 4, with 20.6m guaranteed.
Tavon Austin got 42m over 4, with 17m guaranteed.
Allen Hurns got 40.6m over 4, with 16m guaranteed.

Those are the four largest WR contracts handed out in the last year, and I think that most of them are good comps for Landry. So, thats what we should look to expect. The previous year, there were several mega contracts signed by Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, Demaryoius Bryant and AJ Green, but Landry is not that type of WR. If his agents demand that kind of money, then he can walk.

I do not. as long as Tannembaum is ultimately in charge, i have no faith.

I think that the results of the second half of the season will go a long way into determining how the front office operates on this, and not just with Jarvis. What if Parker suddenly steps up and plays like the #1 that we hoped he'd be, and goes off for something like 40 catches and 700 yards the last eight games? Is Landry, at 12m/season, still as necessary? What if the play of the whole offense tanks, and the team choses to move away from Tannehill? Will they lock up Landry, not knowing what the future holds, or will they let him play out the 2017 season and then go from there?

I think that the most likely case is that they extend him after the season. Its what I would do if I were in charge. But I also think its too early to tell.

Agreed. Get it done early. He's proven his worth and that he will continue to be a good player. Time to stop letting good picks walk out the door, unless of course he wants to be the highest paid WR in the league, then... I'd say we may have to walk away.
