Winslow is not there with his shot. He is best on drives and facilitating. Whiteside had 27 and 15 vs. the Spurs, he can fall down and not hustle back all he wants, without him, we were nowhere in that game.
Heat have played well, good enough to be 4-0 actually. Blew a 19 pt. lead vs. the Hornets, battled the Spurs till the last 30 seconds. But they do have bad habits. They take a big lead and like clock work, a ton of "trying to win by 30" threes go up till the lead is damn near gone. They gotta be more deliberate with a lead. Don't get desperate to blow a team out, they come back all the time in the NBA. You play right into every team's hands when you do dumb stuff like that. Tough stretch coming up. salvage 3-3 out of the next 6, and we are golden to finish out our first 20 strong. Goal is 11-9 after 20.
TJ has definitely got some clutch in him. It was nice to see. Not afraid of the moment. I am looking forward to J-Rich getting back and mitigating the Dion Waiters experience. Babbit is the anti-McBob, perhaps too unafraid to shoot lol
I am perfectly fine with Babbitt having the confidence to throw them up. That's what he's around for. If this team is going to win, it has to be on the strength of 10-11 three point makes per game. Right now you've got Dragic making an unreal percentage and Tyler Johnson as well, but in the long run if the Heat are going to have a lot of makes and a high percentage it's going to be Babbitt and J-Rich. Section mentioned not just lobbing up a ton of threes when you're ahead, trying to get out to 30 point leads. I get that. But Babbitt isn't the guy you turn off that way. When you reach that point in the game perhaps you shut off Dragic's three game, definitely guys like Winslow and James Johnson. You try your best to get Dion Waiters reined in that way. But Babbitt should still be letting it fly. Quite frankly Justise Winslow taking 4.0 three pointers a game right now is ****ing dumb.
I can look at this all day and still giggle.
Just now getting a chance to watch the last two games of our back-to-back. I see Harden decided to unleash hell upon the Cavs and the Knicks. Averaging over 35 points, 15 assists, and 6 rebounds...sheesh. Guess that point guard thing was a good decision. 3-2. On to Atlanta.
I like it Dantoni...I like it A LOT!!! Looked like he was going to slap the s##t out of Brandon Jennings, lol. Watch your mouth.
Poor Pepe. How did he end up being owned by white supremacists? I liked it better when he was just a sad Knicks fan. This is the Pepe I will always remember.
Lol Is Pepe the first meme to get called out by a future President? As for the Knicks, they are worse than I thought. I liked the Rose trade at the time given the little amount of risk involved. Though I do wonder if Carmelo will drop that no trade clause at some point
Rose holds the ball too long. The sooner these guys realize the triangle features nothing about a ball dominant pg, the better off they will be. And offensively no one knows wtf Noah does. Decent passer. That's about it. This is why I killed the Knicks for signing him. He can't shoot his way out of a paper bag. He's not a bad player, he's just more Tyson Chandler then Pau Gasol and this offense doesn't work for the former. Those were Roses words. The rest of us said stop using the drugs you used to help that girl pass out.
Thanks to Section, I know that this isn't as rare as you'd think for Heat players. But Tyler Johnson says that Rodney McGruder made 87 out of 100 three pointers in practice recently. Hot damn. Between he, Luke Babbitt and Josh Richardson, we've got some shooters. Worth mentioning Tyler Johnson is a career 39% shooter. And Goran Dragic is trying to say that his ridiculous three point accuracy this season is because of some changes he made with the Heat's shooting coach. I'm skeptical on that one but if so, dayum. And somehow Dion ****ing Waiters is shooting 43% this season. Yet Justise Winslow is the guy taking 4.0 **** everyone three pointers a game. And James Johnson 2.3 a game. Can we ban certain players from shooting three pointers? Is that a thing you can do in a basketball offense? Seemed like Dwyane Wade observed that ban until the playoffs, whether the ban was self-imposed or not. In before Hassan Whiteside decides to start shooting three pointers.
McGruder's certainly made the most of his opportunities. He clearly belongs on a roster. I could see Spo keeping McGruder active over Ellington once everyone's healthy. (Derrick Williams??? Not sure what's goin on there.) The 3pt numbers and the defensive stats (allowing the lowest FG% in the League) bode really well. Once these lineups gel and hit their stride this team is going to be really fun. Spo's done a nice job putting Winslow in playmaking spots to take advantage of the (improved) spot-up shooting that Dragic and TJ can do. Waiters as well has been strong off the catch. Watching that excellent Bulls-Celtics game last night had me thinking how much better we're going to be once JRich comes back. I've always compared his game to Avery Bradley (a poor man's version for now). That skillset is going to be huge, with him at SF a little as well. Oh damn, apparently both the hurt Josh's were a go in a contact practice. Awesome.
If you refuse to shoot when wide open after getting to another trigger...you kinda blow up the entire offense. The key is to keep all the non shooters from playing together at the same time.
I don't really like what the Heat are trying to turn Winslow into. There's really no need to make him a 3pt shooter. If he can just hit mid-range shots, and get to the basket, he can be a very good player. Forget about the 3pt BS, just step in and make the easier shot.
Missed three pointers also blow up your offense, but they really blow up your defense. I can't think having 20% shooters take 6.3 three pointers a game is a smart thing. They must adapt.
well........ a missed three pointer works a lot like taking a shot play on a 9 route. it can lead to loosening up a defense.
I don't buy that. Made three pointers loosen up a basketball defense. Missed open three point attempts by a Ray Allen or Joe Johnson may loosen up a basketball defense. Missed three pointers by career 26.5% shooters don't loosen up a defense.
Knicks looked a lot better tonight. Rose with more assist tonight then in his first 4 games combined. Not ready to hop on the playoff bus yet but theyre much better with Melo and Porzingawd as the focal points of the offense. Wade took more 3s tonight then any game i can remember. Heat related....Tyler Johnson is good. That is all.
Been a crazy start to the season. Some crazy statistics being put up. And Joel Embiid has already locked up ROY. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Keep ballin', Beard. Fourth game this year with 30 points, 15 assists, and 6 rebounds. 4-3. Finish out this b.s. 8 game road trip strong. On to San Antonio.
The Heat? they aren't green. check your eyes. They are Tan or FDE. They wear them every year around Vets day. The 15 players are wearing the Uni's and each have the name of a different soldier from the So. Fla. area that has recently died in combat. As for the heat, good god, our offense was disjointed and our P&R coverage was a disaster vs. OKC. TOO much attention to Russ, and we cut everybody else loose and they killed us. Good stretch coming up to make that run at 11-9 (the goal for the first 20)
There were 3 30 point and 15 assist games in the entire league last year. Beard has 4. So very happy i took him 3rd overall in fantasy....i had him ranked behind only Westbrook in fantasy this year.
On Tyler Johnson....yeah...gotta rethink him going forward. He is worth every penny. He looks like a lock for the 6th man award, which means that at his age, he should be starting soon. he literally does EVERYTHING well.
I seriously think he'll finish first in points and assists. They'll probably cheat him out of All-NBA like last year though. Only MJ, LeBron, and Oscar put up those numbers he did last year. The media hates him.
They hate him because he plays no defense. In real life id pull my hair watching him play d. It would be 1 thing if he tried and wasnt good at it but he barely makes it past halfcourt. He makes carmelo look like Bruce Bowen lol
His defensive rating was 107 last year. The same as Klay Thompson. Better than Derozan and Lillard. Just wondering why no hatred toward them. They all made All-NBA.
