Let me start off by saying that these are LITERALLY my first impressions after the game. I have not gone back to look at stats or the recording. If I'm off on some things, be it stats or otherwise, I apologize up front.

It gives me great pleasure to see Miami have the ability to eat up clock under a true bell cow with Ajayi at the end of a game.

Give the Jets credit; besides that 21-yard TD scamper in the first quarter and the Williams run, they really kept the running game in check in the first half. I think Miami had less than 50 rushing yards at the break. True team win. Dare I say in "all phases"?

    Quick Hits

    - Great touch by Tanny on that wheel route to Williams in the Red Zone. Still a little surprised he didn't have a better statistical game. Disappointed that he didn't hit that deep one to Caroo late in the game.

    - Speaking of Williams, he's officially an asset. He made a really nice run in the first half that was key to the Jones TD drive.

    - Speaking of Jones, anyone Flex him this week?

    - Guys have to help out Tanny on these accurate throws on 3rd down. Catch the ball! Maybe Tannehill could have run for the first, but I haven't re-watched. Regardless of choice, Jones still should have caught the ball. He catches that, maybe the Darr muff doesn't happen.

    - Kiko Alonso is officially a player. I think he's really grasping this D. Made some really impressive and important plays in the pass game. I was cold on him earlier this year, but I am digging his game now.

    - For anyone who said Wake wouldn't come back from his injury (you know who you are): suck it! 2 sacks and 2 FF today. He's back. Never doubted him. 5 total sacks for the year. Pretty good for a guy who's only started part of the season.

    - Loved the way Suh just tossed Fitzy to the ground. Good game by him.

    - Didn't realize Miami had the best 3rd down D. I bet they're the best at allowing first downs via penalty on 3rd down, too. They won't have anything to stand on if they continue shooting themselves in the foot.

    - Didn't like the cutesy playcalling on a few of these plays. The Jets weren't having any of it. And they got really lucky that one toss wasn't behind the LOS. 19 should've kept playing instead of whining. Could've been really ugly.

    - Glad they were using screen/flat passes with success.

    - Jarvis Landry. His ability to make people miss, stop and start, and punish defenders, never ceases to amaze me. His fire is infectious.

    - Ajayi is now an official starter for the rest of the season on your fantasy team. He was getting a little frustrated there for a bit, and rightfully so. Those late runs really helped Miami in so many ways. Mid-season offensive team MVP.

    - Kenyan Drake. Did he hold or Williams hold on that punt return that was called back? Regardless, he made up for it on that kickoff return for TD.

    ______________________________

Overall, it was a nail biter with neither team really giving up. Great TEAM win. Was ugly at times for both teams, but was also an ultra competitive game. The Jets came to play in a loud environment.

Great to see Miami finally pulling off some of these close ones.

One of the biggest debates this offseason was about wake, I stated that he should remain the starter because firstly I thought his body would recover and didn't think that body had lost a step, 2nd, I wanted his presence and talent on all downs affecting other players and strategies, everyone told me differently..

Don't forget Grant's kick return TD that got called back and his 150 yard run (according to the announcer) while he made 7 people miss on that 19 yard kickoff...that also didn't count. I can honestly say that I haven't been more amused while the Dolphins were losing for quite some time. Of course, we took the lead back on the very next play- awesome run back on the 2nd kickoff. Such a great feeling to see our team overcome mistakes like that and find a way to win.

I was equally impressed with the final drive as well to burn out the clock. I think we could have added 7 if necessary.

  7. I thought it was a great hard fought game. Neitjer trsm is playoff caliber they both made sloppy mistakes. That said we played solid football against a trsm that showed up and played to win. The dolphins are a team other teams need to take seriously

On one hand I like Landry's toughness and punishing style. But on the other he's a loose cannon. Again he spins the ball after last games 15 yard penalty. He acts like every catch is the greatest thing he's ever done. Tiring of his act but not of the contribution as long as it doesn't hurt the team.

So urinators like Dan Le Batard and company may say that they just won because of a kick return or a missed Pick 6 by the Jets. But those things don't happen in a vacuum. Some probably think that Tannehill couldn't make an 81 yard game winning drive, he didn't have to thanks to Kenyon Drake. But that Matt Darr muffed punt really gave the Jets a great chance to win the game, and they squandered it.

These bounces one direction or the other cancel each other out. And even then, the Jets had a shot to drive back and beat the Dolphins with 5 minutes left. They couldn't. Then they had a shot to stop the Dolphins from killing the clock and getting the clock back. . . they couldn't.

I kind of forget, the Dolphins haven't beaten the Jets in Miami since the Chad Henne years. So this win is an accomplishment. It was a good win against a team that matches up well against the Dolphins.

Next week they play a Chargers team with a much weaker defence. But hopefully they can keep Phillip Rivers in check.

Yesterday though, we saw what could be with Landry and his "wolverine" attitude, he drew a penalty, he kept himself under control and drew the penalty, and seemed to derive great pleasure from it.

If he can keep himself under control like that, his attitude will draw penalties, and that can be a great thing, another "Hines Ward" like quality.

Did you see the coaches sprint onto the field after he took that screen pass 8-10 yards? He went out of bounds and immediately turned back to talk some junk, but when he saw the coaches in his face, he quickly changed direction and forgot about it. If this happened on the Jets sideline though, I have a feeling that a penalty flag was coming.

I don't know what to think about Landry any more...he's easily the most talented player on the field and I love watching him. But he plays with so much fight and emotion, it's just a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
